I think i got ripped off...Suggestions?
Adkhunter1590 replied to ApexerER's topic in General Chit Chat
Good to hear you got your stuff. I just bought a pair of cabelas outfitter wool pants off a guy on archery talk last night. I've had the matching jacket for 3 years but always wanted to complete the suit and get the pants. Just happened to come across them last night in my size. $50 for $220 pants. I'll take it! First time buying something from a forum member so hopefully all goes smooth. I sure hope so cause the guys screen name is like pastorjim or something. Would like to think a pastor wouldn't screw me out of 50 bucks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Hunting with scent lures in early season
Adkhunter1590 replied to Bow sniper's topic in Deer Hunting
Dang I wanna be in the ever calm club! Stupid work is screwing up my ability to get to field and stream today. Don't get out until 9pm[emoji17]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Predator Control Is A Must!
Adkhunter1590 replied to Rattler's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I consider shooting yotes like speeding 5mph over the limit. Chances are slim to none of getting your license pulled in both scenarios Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I've never had a problem with the couch either For me, someone better have died for me to miss opening weekend. You only get so many in a lifetime...and this could always be your last year, you never know. I spend all year waiting for it so I'm always out there regardless of weather. Predator Control Is A Must!
Adkhunter1590 replied to Rattler's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I'm with everyone else. You see a yote you put it down if possible. I grew up watching everyone in my family and everyone else I know for that matter, not give a damn if they were in season or not. Now that I think about it....I think this forum is probably the only place I've even seen someone mention NOT shooting them out of "season" lol Tuesday night I got home from work a little after midnight and walked behind the garage to take a leak before heading inside. A big pack of coyotes started howling like crazy about a mile away to the east. I figure they were over in the farm fields on the other side of the nearest road in that direction. They went on and on for about 5 mins then stopped. I turned to walk towards the house and all of a sudden, BANG BANG BANG!! Farmer must of heard them howling and woke up and fired a few shots at them lol. Made me laugh though. Glad I'm not the only one in the area trying to knock them down Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I was totally slacking this year and just picked up my license today. Work has been nuts lately so I kept dropping the ball on getting it. Other than that I'm pretty much good to go. I need another bow hanger for one stand but that can wait until I can make it to field and stream as walmart had absolutely NONE left today. I also want to pick up one of those ever calm sticks to try out. O and I did grab a camo portable cell phone charger so I don't have to worry about my phone dying in the woods in the first hour and my wife getting pissed when I don't text back. My iPhone battery is shot and dies within a hour. Ordered the new iPhone 7 but won't be in for 2 more weeks. But these portable chargers are neat little items to have! Rain may not be good for bloodtrails. But that's all the more reason to make a good shot. I'll be the first to tell ya that I won't take risky shots in the rain. I have a weird way of calculating risk in my head when aiming. I take into account all aspects and give myself a "accuracy percentage". If I'm down into the 75% range I won't shoot in the rain. Anything higher than that and it's game on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dang haven't seen that AD yet! Lol. Is it just me or did Tapatalk get a whole crap ton of new ads the last day or two?? I don't remember there being this many ads before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hey there's always the next day you two go out that you might both take a deer! That's what I love most about hunting, the uncertainty. You just never know what's gonna happen and what your gonna see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Glad to hear your all having a good time and having some action. Missing deer is just part of the adventure. Makes for good story telling later on! Trust me when I say you and your son will miss plenty more in the future! Happens to the best of us. I've been bow hunting for 14 years and still miss now and again. My first deer I shot at with a bow was 14 years ago and I must of just grazed that 4 pointers belly just enough to give us a weak blood trail to follow for over a half mile. My dad and I guessed the yardage wrong and I used the wrong pin. But I'll never forget that moment or that 6 hours of tracking we did, and that's what it's all about in the end! I watched a portion of the debate and had to change the channel. I think these debates are such a waste of time and money. To me a debate shows absolutely no skill on being a leader. I could care less who has the mental skill to keep their cool and say exactly the right words at the right time to talk about mostly what happened in the past. I care about what they are going to do once in office. And I really don't care how they say it, I just want it to get done. Some people just don't have the knack at public speaking. But can still actually get it done in reality. Which is all anyone should really care about. In the end I wish we had two different people up on stage but I do think trump is the best bet this go around. He's got some good points and I hope he can bring those ideas to reality. Once this election is over I think you'll see his demeanor change once he's allowed to get to work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To Let The Woods Rest Or To Not Let The Woods Rest
Adkhunter1590 replied to DirtTime's topic in Bow Hunting
I'm out and about on my property all the time. Was just out there today giving my boys a ride around on the 4 wheeler. I like to ride around on the atv on a pretty regular basis. I feel it gets them used to it. We had a doe and fawn standing 30 yards from us in the field and they just watched us drive by slowly. Didn't run off or get scared they just watched us until we were gone. I think of it as "training" lol. I've always found deer are much less afraid and less likely to move away from an area if they get used to stuff that doesn't harm them going on pretty regularly. But with that being said, I also try not to do much in the woods at first light or late evening right before dark. I try to do what I gotta do during the mid day hours when they are most likely bedded down. Seems to have always worked for me in the past. O and if I can manage to wake my wife up early enough I'm not against having her taxi me to my stand on the 4 wheeler and leave it running until I'm up in the stand. When I guided I always took guys right to the base of the stands with a truck or wheeler if I could. This worked wonders for keeping deer from realizing a human was getting up in a tree. For sure I'll be dropping one if the opportunity presents itself. I have a momma with two fawns that I'll refrain from shooting but there a couple other does that I don't see with fawns so they will be on the hit list come legal light oct 1st Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I had a neighbor pull into my driveway on Sunday afternoon and start hollering at me in front of my kids that I was riding my 4 wheeler with my kids on it through his farm fields. Now his field is about 600 yards in the opposite direction and across another the road that I hunt or even ride our atv. After I told him that's total BS he goes on to say he saw my red 4 wheeler. I said o ya? Well ya must be awfully color blind then because the only machine I own is this green one right here (my wife is literally sitting on it 5 ft away). This guy kept going on how I better stay off his land and said I'm a liar that I own a red 4 wheeler. I finally had enough of his ranting, especially in front of my two little kids and told him he either gets in his truck and leaves now or I'm walking inside to get my 12 gauge and we can talk this out another way. I don't like trespassers as much as the next guy and I never do it unless it's by pure accident on a unfamiliar piece of property. But this guy wouldn't listen and was getting totally nasty about it and I wasn't gonna let him keep going on with his cussing and accusations in front of my boys. Old man laughed at me and said I'll be watching you with my rifle ready as he walked back to his truck. I said no problem pal...your front window from where you'll be watching is 889 yards from this very spot...and I'm a damn good shot. The look on his face was priceless lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you hunt in the rain and how did it work out for you
Adkhunter1590 replied to LJC's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I try to get out there as much as I have the opportunity too. Weather can be bummer but I try to make the best of it. If it's a pretty hard steady rain I'm all for sitting in my ground blinds to keep dry. Light rain and drizzle I will just toss on my camo frog toggs and tough it out on stand. Severe cold I'm also in the ground blind. I need to get another buddy heater this year but even without it, the blind traps in quite a bit of heat from your body and at least keeps the wind chill off you. All in all I just go with the flow and use equipment to help make it easier to be out there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Get yourself a pop up ground blind and you can ride out the real crappy days in it. Keep you dry in the rain and warmer in the coldest days. It's a good tool to have in your arsenal! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Stopped at a couple of my stands yesterday to put in some bow hangers and rope. Saturday can't come soon enough. Looks like it's gonna be a wet weekend though. That's a pretty big bummer. Might be riding it out in the ol ground blind if it rains too hard. Either way I'll be out there! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Used to mark off trees with orange flagging tape at 20, 30 and 40 or even farther depending on the stand. Haven't used a range finder since I started bow hunting until this year I picked up a Halo xrt7 rangefinder. I'll be using it to range certain areas in my shooting line and go off memory. Unless I have plenty of time when a deer is coming in then I'll use it up to the last second before drawing back. A lot of newer camo clothes have pockets setup for range finders that keep them close by and easy to pick up and put back quickly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

GSP Puppy for sale
Adkhunter1590 replied to damore81's topic in Non Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
Wish I could spend the cash for a great looking dog. I have the land she would love to roam around on and hunt. Wife stays home with our 2 and 3 yr old so there's no problem with people being around. Some one loan me some money and I'd take her! Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Looks like the back of my truck every time I bring home corn from work for my chickens. We have tons of corn at work and it's free to take. I dump it in the bed of my truck but forget to block the edges around the tailgate sometimes. Leaks all over the place lol. It's not a intentional bait pile but there are always a couple deer every night picking up the scraps the chickens didn't eat behind the coop. I wonder if that's considered illegal lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Middletown Gander Mountain Gift Card Scam
Adkhunter1590 replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in General Chit Chat
Gander sucks. Their line of products suck. Customer service sucks. People behind gun counter don't usually know jack squat. It's gone downhill quick in the past few years. My wife used to tell me we could go to gander mountain if I would join her on shopping trips....I won't even take her up on the offer anymore lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Lol good stuff. I don't even begin to think about having an opinion on any sort of decoration inside the house. I could care less what color the walls are or how the curtains are hung. Though I will admit I did request thick sun blocking curtains for our bedroom....but common I work night shift a lot and a guys gotta sleep right!? It was that or I was grabbing the staple gun and some cardboard and fixing the problem once and for all! Haha. But I totally agree with Elmo...whatever she wants cause I don't give a hoot. At the start of the season, morning or afternoon
Adkhunter1590 replied to maytom's topic in Bow Hunting
Nice! I'd be with ya on jumping ship from any company that didn't allow vacation to be taken in November! Lol. Usually I would have no problem getting the time off. The other guy I work with who has the 3 weeks off in November is actually a good friend of mine and my huntin buddy. It's a good thing we didn't plan a hunt out west this year or we'd be in trouble! I told our boss this will be the one and ONLY year that I'll bend over backwards and get screwed out of hunting time in November. I could probably cause a fuss with our union and get the time off but I'm not into unnecessary drama. I'll just suck it up and lose out on some sleep and hunt the afternoons....and collect some massive paychecks for a month lol. At least Christmas shopping will be covered...wife will be happy!
