  1. Say what you want about Subaru's. Driving one got me sole access to 1200 acres of land from a farmer who has 3 lesbian daughters. Driving up to his house in one made quite an impression.
  2. Well, they have the right to hunt and/or post on this forum just like anyone else. I need not know or be told that someone has such a preference. I can respect anyone, they just need to keep such matters to themselves and not be telling me about it 24/7. Then they will start losing me for sure.
  3. It's the official truck of the gay pride parade. Can haul a 2 ton load of gay folks in the back. LOL
  4. If the plate with the bridge wins out, you can be certain that this vote was rigged!!
  5. Cuomo has both houses in Albany, so he can honestly do whatever the hell he pleases. He has complete control unlike any other governor has ever had in this state. And he's surely the perfect guy to take full advantage of this power. It's a crying shame that the republican party in this state did JACK$#!+ in recent elections to try to defeat him or put more effort into keeping at least one of the state houses.
  6. The way you described his tone in your first post and now you say that he "didn't have an easy life" makes me think this guy won't take it too well when you tell him that he is no longer welcome to hunt with you. I'd tread lightly with this guy. Sounds like he could be vindictive. You don't want your season screwed up having to deal with the shenanigans he could be capable of pulling. My .02.
  7. I'd tell him that he has no clue what it means to be a hunter and sportsman and that he isn't welcome to hunt with me or on my land anymore. He had his chance, but he blew it.
  8. WNY, since FSW can't come up with any figures for us, how many hunters would you say hunt at this ranch per year?? Is it like 50, 100 or more?? Very curious to get a grasp on how many might be hunting these type of establishments since FSW thinks that the DEC is having a coronary over the many hunters it's losing to game farms. Also, if you have any idea of how many such fenced hunting ranches there are in NYS, that would be very helpful, too. I figure you might have some unbiased knowledge since you know someone who owns one. Thanks.
  9. The extra batteries won't help you if you find out that they are dead when you lift your gun up to aim at the deer that just strolled in. I doubt it will stick around and wait for you to change them. LOL
  10. Anything that has batteries I will not use on a gun. Bound to fail sooner or later and most likely when you need it.
  11. Lets not forget that lots of hunters don't buy bow and muzzleloader privileges. Those who don't can get a buck, bear and doe tag(s) for only $32. How many people hunt deer in a NYS hunting preserve?? 100, 1000, 10,000? One of the great mysteries of the world I guess, but all I know is that I can't see NYS losing a wink of sleep over the revenue they might be losing to the relatively few hunting preserves out there in NYS.
  12. Well, if that isn't the cop out of the month. I should have known better than to think you'd be able to come up with some credible figures from somewhere other than yourself.
  13. Yes, please give us that number if you have it. Must have a reliable source to back it up. You alone giving us that number is not reliable enough.
  14. That is more than a 3.5 hour drive from Westchester.
  15. A cull by professional snipers is the only possibility that could ever happen. A cull involving licensed sport hunters will NEVER happen, I can guarantee you. Doesn't matter what the SI borough president thinks. You have a Mayor that is an animal rights nut and a city council president and most likely next Mayor who is an even bigger animal rights nut, so a hunt would be fought tooth and nail by them, and let's not even get into what a media circus a hunt in NYC would be. The media would sway the masses and portray hunters as evil like never before.
  16. A deer hunt involving sport hunters will NEVER happen within the five boroughs of NYC. No need to even think about it. The city council wants to ban the sale of fur coats and then you think they would be OK with hunting? Not a chance in the world!!
  17. Once again, I absolutely have nothing against food plots, but I love how some of you try to justify it all. The fact of the matter to me is that NO one would ever be planting food plots for deer to eat if they didn't hunt and/or want to keep deer on their properties. Those who would claim that they do it only for the benefit of the deer where it gives them some extra food to eat are not telling the whole truth. If you don't consider planting a food source for the sole purpose of attracting deer to your property as a form of baiting, so be it. Some of us won't buy your justification for it while at the same time you try to portray the bait pile as being such an evil that only has an "intent to kill animal". To me the "intent" is there with both.
  18. A food plot don't have to be 5 acres. Plenty of food plots out there that are quite small. Some not much bigger than a persons tomato patch in their backyard. Again, I am not against food plots, but I see little difference in someones small food plot compared to a bait pile. The disease thing I have no way of proving whether it is more likely to spread via bait pile vs. food plot. I surely won't wholeheartedly believe the biologists on this neither. I doubt they have a surefire way of proving it. It's probably more assumption than proof.
  19. Wow, that was some coincidence that you two walked into the gun shop at the same time. Now you most definitely have a great deal. The Winchester may or may not be as accurate as the Tikka, but I will assure you it will be accurate enough to put game on the ground. The Winchester 70 will surely hold it's value way better than the Tika, and if given the opportunity I'd definitely take a pre-64 type action that the Winchester has over a Tika for the same money any day of the week. My .02 cents.
  20. I'll take it one step further and say that I've always considered food plots as just another form of baiting. I have absolutely nothing against food plots but that's how I see them. I realize baiting with corn, apples, mineral blocks, etc. is illegal in NYS, but I honestly wouldn't care if it was legal. Nothing to get riled up about. Folks who think it would be a slam dunk hunting over bait are kidding themselves. Plenty of hunters who hunt in states where baiting is allowed get skunked just like the rest of us.
  21. Living in a free society does not mean that it will be a free for all for everyone, where everyone could do what they please without any sort of rules and regulations. There will NEVER be a society like that, I can guarantee you that. So, just because someone thinks it's their God given right to take a dump wherever they want, even on a public street or on someones doorstep we should accept that? Sorry, I won't buy that. That's all I will say and won't spend anymore time discussing this.
  22. So should we get rid of hunter safety training courses, too? It is pretty much universal that new hunters are required to take a training course, so I don't see what the uproar over boater's having to take one is all about? Hunter safety courses most definitely helped bring down hunting accidents rates compared to the old days. Which pastime has a greater chance of an accident occurring? I would think the odds are greater with boating. Plus you are on the water which has it's own set of safety precautions compared to having your feet on the ground. I can't stand Cuomo, neither, but a little bit of safety training can't hurt anyone here.
  23. Don't know how you managed this, but NO cigar for me. Took my 12 year old son to get his first license at a Walmart yesterday and the DEC system has a block on DMP selections for youngsters 12 and 13 and who do not have bow privileges. Maybe if a kid had a bow safety training certificate it would work, otherwise NO dice.
  24. Congratulations and best wishes. Having a child changes ones life dramatically, so get ready. Anyone who says it doesn't is probably not a good parent. Forewarned is being forearmed.
