I’m in my stand about 1 hour before official sunrise. Can easily shoot 25-30 minutes before sunrise in woods, field edge is a whole other story. So I’d say first light is about 40 mins before sunrise time in your zone.

Vacuum seal no doubt, my food saver is goin on 5-6 years now. Do about 10 deer a year after mine and dads/friends deer. I figure it’s already paid for itself.

I got scentblocker outfitter series outfit two years ago but think it was $120 or so which is still a good deal. My store had nothing last year, this year only one rack.

Just a heads up for anyone looking, i always check my local Ollies (Johnson City NY) before hunting season as they usually get some stuff in. This is by far the cheapest I've ever seen, I got Scent blocker Protec HD jacket and pants for $80 ($40 each). They seem to be a mid weight wind proof soft fleece type with the carbon scent blocking. The price was so good I got my dad a set also. They had probably 20-30 sets medium-xl. (These are not my photos, i stole them off the internet)

Ive been watching the extended forecast wind and it changes every day. Right now its a N wind and i will be in my doe spots in the morning if there's N or NW wind, same with the evening on another property. Saturday ill more than likely head to PA and try to fill a doe tag there, have 9-10 doe on cam at a time taking the trail by my stand. Either way ill be in a stand somewhere most all of Friday-Monday. I've got 9 tags to fill lol, and am taking kids out for NY youth and PA youth weekends. I prefer to shoot doe in the morning early season so the rest of the deer go bed and I can take care of it.

we raise our own pigs, I save bags of fat from them and from out beef. If you're ever near Binghamton ill give you a bag. The next best option i've found is find uncured pork belly.

Dad hunted all while i grew up, I never had an interest although i never recall him asking me too. at about 18 I went and bought a shotgun and it was like a light switch flipped. Shot my first deer out of his stand with his shotgun since i didn't have time to sight mine in, he had double pneumonia and their was a ton of snow. Still came up and showed me how to gut it. This was Nov 2007.

pretty much, its crazy now. if the kids even have a sniffle i just keep them home and tell the school they're taking a personal day and cant even mention being sick or they make them test to come back.

19 oz water, 1 oz martins 10% permethrin. I go 1.5 oz and make it a bit stronger. Do not get the Gordons brand, its oil based, martins is water based just like sawyers, no odor.

DEC basically stated they are not testing more deer in an area once they have a confirmed positive and are just treating them all as EHD, they made a FB post today.

I'm just fine with the orange, and I only hunt private land. I also always have my red headlamp on in the dark even with a full moon incase some idiot is trespassing and shooting before light at anything. When i get in my stands i usually take the orange off. If i'm not mistaken i have not seen ANYTHING saying the orange has to be displayed in the new law, youth hunters it specifies has to displayed from all angles, but said nothing about it in the new reg. So theoretically you could just wear an range vest under your camo and be legal.

I never see a damn squirrel till deer season. I don't even bother with them anymore.
