When i was younger and we did deer drives up north a guy shot a doe running across the swamp and spined it at about 200 yards, they continued firing at it but couldn't finish it off so my buddy did. my buddy and i who were youngest got to strip down and go retrieve her, 2 bullet holes right through the ear.

So do broadheads fly different than field points
Hock3y24 replied to luberhill's topic in CrossBow Hunting
The short answer is yes and no. a broad head will ALWAYS have more surface are therefore more air drag. The no part, If you tune your bow any quality head will fly good out to hunting distances. When you start pushing something with more air drag ( fast crossbows) it can magnify other issues such as not perfectly strait arrows/bolts, arrows not square (nock and tip), broad head ferrule bent or bad tolerances..etc. I could go on forever. I find out which broad head flys best with each arrow. Number them, then they never change arrows, i replace the blades or sharpen them. Once the ferule bends i just send Magnus an email and get a new broad head free. And yes each head will "like" a certain arrow more despite what anyone says. I use the stay sharp system so i can shoot my broad heads as much as i want, pop the main blade off my black hornets and touch them up before hunting. I probably do WAY more than i have too, but it makes me feel better when everything is perfect and i have the time to do it. -
Glory nocks are nice, i always had an issue with carbon express arrows cracking at the ends.

350 spine arrow with a 100 grain insert and 100 grain head. https://store.elitearchery.com/products/elite-350-arrow-12-pack these are one of the best deals going for .001 arrows. youd have to order inserts, id also shoot a shorter arrow, I like to keep my arrows the same as my DL as its easy to remember so in your case 28".

Interesting, the sawyers I bought when opened had that petroleum smell.

Water based does not adhere as well to clothing, nor does it last through wash cycles.

DANG, if i didn't have to be somewhere already at 9 am id go. That's not too far from me.

Material cost have gone up ALOT the past few months with this " pandemic". something to keep in mind.

https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/gordons-permethrin-10-livestock-and-premise-spray-32-oz I use the Gordons. $20 for 32 oz or $8 for 8 oz. It does have a slight petroleum smell when sprayed just like sawyers, but after airing out clothes it dissipates, petroleum is what makes it adhere to your clothes and stay on during wash cycles.

Cornell University is not far away at all and they have some of their land open to hunters, you have to register and get approved ( its free though). My father is actually working in SUNY Cortland dorms right now renovating them.

Because i can make 20 bottles for the price of one sawyers. I have tested it on live ticks and works the same. It has a self measuring container you squeeze 1 oz then just add 20 oz water to a spray bottle. I'm buying a garden weed sprayer to do my clothes this year with a pump.

FYI I got Nikon prostaff 3s at Walmart from my clearance brick seek forum for $30, proceeded to drop them outa a tree directly into a hard log hunting. They would no longer co focus together. I emailed Nikon told them I couldn’t get them to focus together outa the box and they were new ( I left the drop part out, there was no visible damage). It took a few weeks but I had a brand new pair sent to me no more questions asked.

Our PA camp is ran by a Honda Inverter 2200 generator and its plenty with a boat 5 gallon gas tank. We have a 120 gallon water tank and have pex lines ran to the bathroom, kitchen sink, and hot water tank. The water pump is fueled by 12v car batteries. The hotwater, stove, heat, and gas lights are ran off 100 lb propane tanks. Full size fridge and freezer. Works very well. We also have a TV with a antenna and get about 40 channels from Scranton and Binghamton. (our bathroom has a normal toilet but is just a big hole in the ground under it)

Stay sharp from innovative outdoorsman. Makes factory sharpening look like crap. Turned my magnus black hornets from sharp, to mirror gloss shave hair off you arm sharp.

You absolutely have to tune your bow for Fixed heads, (should for mechanical too). Should match broad heads to arrows and number them ( yes their will always be better flying combinations.) You can get crazy into it but Paper tune ( paper taped into a ladder foot gap works) Then a walk back tune was all i needed, took an hour or so.
