My Uncle on the farm taught me to target shoot and then we went out hunting woodchucks. At that moment I was hooked on the experience of hunting. Hunted with Uncle, Dad and friends and enjoyed the camaraderie, friendship, camp experience. Now those who shaped me are mostly gone now and i hunt on, not just in trying to harvest game, but to remember the good times spent out in the wilderness. My 63rd birthday is creeping up on me and I know I will be putting the Gun and Bow down for the last time in the not too distant future. I'll keep on enjoying the hunt while I can. Happy New Year to all.

Would be interesting to set up, if possible, trail cams in places where this stuff occurs. Might be able to nab a few of these people....get a few people in the frame as well as licence plate numbers.

Review data on the current set-up after 10 years and adjust season, if required. Need hunter input thrown into the mix during this time span. Make it a requirement that all deer hunters report in honestly on how each person did, harvest or not. Sometimes I wish it were 2 weeks bow and 3 weeks gun again to keep things simple....ahh the memories.

Nothing wrong with being selective, Don't worry...continue to be happy in the way you approach deer hunting.

If Mountain Lion came at me, licking it's chops, I would take the shot. If Bigfoot strolled by, I would do some stuff similar to the "messing with saskwatch" antics shown on the commercial. think it was the beef jerky commercial.

The day before the deer Rifle opener, I was accosted by a raccoon in the afternoon. Sonofabee came right at me. I fortunately had a pole saw in my hand and gave the beast a whack across the body with the business end. Wandered away. Dang big one. Didn't look like it was rabid. Looked healthy. fat as a quarter keg of beer.

Less pets end up dead if owners train them well and keep them within their properties as best they can. Protecting them is almost like protecting your human family members. Not a difficult concept to grasp.

All this is avoidable if the dog or cat owner would just contain their pets to their property, and if you want to walk the dogs, use a leash.

Sometimes I just go out at sun up just because....and I get to my stand and see deer. I'm fortunate to have the Rod and Gun property to hunt...usually no problems with stray hunters, but I have my orange on. just to be safe.

And lets put to bed the shooting 1/2 hour before sunup and 1/2 hour after sunset idea. Things seem bad enough without adding fuel to the fire.

Need to call that good looking blonde from "Rehab Addict" TV show to slap a little paint onto it.
