The big thing is to practice from where you are going to shoot. If you are going to hunt with a treestand shoot elevated if on the ground shoot on the ground. You will see the difference if you practice from both.

I also used them once. I didn't find my deer either but I had a bad shot and then had to wait a day and a half then they got their. Not there fault they were busy. Great people and great dogs. THey make you think about the shot and then work it out with them. I would use them again in a heart beat.

I didn't read all of the posts so I don't know if this was said yet. If it was I apologize. After skinning and gutting the squirrel I clean it well and get all excess fat off of the body. I then put it in a bowl of warm water with salt in it. It is a kind of brine to soften up the meat. I then freeze them untill I am cooking. Then when I am going to cook them up I preboil them for a short time. I don't cook the meat just a short preboil. After that you can just pull the meat off of the bone. Then put it in any recipe you would like.

It will make a safer hunter supposedly.( I would think)

If you go in the night before just before dark you should be alright. I have heard of people useing yopur stand if they find it. So if you put it in any earlier you could have company either in your stand or somebody that found your honey hole and set up close to it. All hunters aren't always respectful of your space. Keep your spot a secret untill the last minute. I will leave my climber in at night if I am going in first thing in the morning. That is the only time I will leave it in. Both of these deer were taken in the capital district area 10-20 minutes from albany no ar's. I have a 9 pointer that is bigger than both but I only have old school photos of it taken in the same area. It took dedication and hard work. Not just a five minutes sit and get what you want. Hunting is about the hunt and the reward when you worked really hard to accomplish something. My problem with ar's Is I talk to people who think they are great idea want them and then go out and shoot a spike horn. WTH. If you believe in ar's then stick to your guns don't shoot the spike horn.

Remember too, no question is a stupid one except the one ou didn't ask and then get in trouble for. Plus I thought that is what this forun is for right?

I was reading the regs and I think to shoot them as a preditor hunt you have to have a small game licence. But I think you have to have the pelt sealed.

Yeah the kids should have a great time being able to go one weekend a year with old pops. I got to go every day he went. My dad loved me LOL

Use your discretion. If it is a high pressure area I go in a bottle if low let it fly. I have peed on the ground and watch deer walk right up sniff and not care then I have seen them spook.

I showed you guys this doe last year and she lives on. She looks great. She would make an interesting mount for sure.

There is another product that if you think you get into it it is like a prewash. It is called Technu and you get it at your local drugstore. I have use it and it does work. I have washed up to my wrists and then two day later I have a line just above my wrists but none on my hands. Now I wash my whole arms and sometimes I bring it right in the shower with me.

That was a big deer but not a 400 pound deer. Not worth 25000 a year that is for sure.

Sits you have the patience. Most people don't have them. This goes with the whole issue of know your target before you pull the trigger. Some people don't do this and that is the big problem

Come on they are what sell those magazines. Plus seeing all those big deer makes everybody think it can happen in NY and then you know what happens everybody wants those things that are happening to this state.

I have two beagles now and a lab. Crazy house to say the least but I love the beagles. They are both house dogs and great hunters. I don't think I would ever not have a beagle in my home. Wish I could help ou out but 4 dogs would make me go insane.
