  1. Just started poking around, let me check one out in hand and I'll see. I know its a bit bigger than some of the competitors I was thinking of. Huh.....would have thought one of the wholesalers would have put one on the shelf there. I'm thinking Swede right now.
  2. BGC have one? I'd be curious what you thought. Stock is wide at the top of the comb and high enough for me and usually factory I have to pad up to make them work. Tikka is OK, Kimber is better but not as good. Medium game to 400 yds, light and compact for backpack at elevation. 308 win or 6.5x55 swede?
  3. You get more tenderloin on one side of the "t" in a porterhouse.....they both come from the same region of a carcass. And most folks wouldn't know the difference or care.
  4. I handled one of the Barrett Fieldcraft bolt guns the other day. Another entry in the sub 6 lb lightweight market. Timney trigger, Talley LW Rings, blind magazine. Similar in price to Kimber ADK series. Interesting, stock fit me well. I have some trade bait and have dealt with this dealer several times; may get rid of last of junk in safe for a spell, but need to read some more feed back about them. So there's always something. Like to find a 380 auto carry gun too.
  5. Tractor rim, cook on it all year. Propane is not grilling.
  6. I'm not buying too much either, just still looking for a good buy I could flip if wanted; but thinned downed the herd a few years ago when I needed to finance a trip. Problem right now is hunt fund, gun fund, and taxidermy fund are the same thing, and my piggy bank is low.
  7. Bought what I think is exact same thing at a local ACE hardware for 19 on sale. http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=24613806&KPID=16955570&cid=CAPLA:G:Shopping_-_Outdr_Function_Furniture1&pla=pla_16955570&k_clickid=73382315-5132-462e-b974-decdd91ee39f&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiZDv3Ire2gIVyiaGCh2qhgaTEAQYBCABEgJ7HvD_BwE
  8. I got one of those chairs too; I use mine in a series of ground blinds scattered about. I need the back support when sitting for extended periods of time.
  9. I was going to send you a heads up to watch a Leopard making a stalk last night live on the net'.....but it was 2:00am when she was successful and didn't think your phone would be on. LOL
  10. GO BILLZ Just reserved my hotel and flights for the big game. Super bowl bound. Lock it up.
  11. Wait til' you fill the gas tank. Have fun.
  12. Neither.... I just like killing stuff.
  13. Seen a guy dump his bike pulling out of Dutchess Recreational Vehicles the other day.....loose gravel right at the end of driveway. (weird uphill onto main rd.)
  14. Eh....lots of members here with more knowledge than me; paddling Yukon rivers, hunting Alaska DYI, the Rockies, wandering around the Daks' ,etc. Lots of cool places out there to see......
  15. There's a pretty good Alaskan one, but I haven't been there in years and don't have the name or link handy. I can try and look around for it..... Some years ago I became friends with a guide I met when on a semi guided Caribou hunt way the hell up in Canada who lived a subsistence lifestyle in a tiny village of only 60 Newfies, but actually in Quebec just off the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Just a occasional mail boat scheduled to go there once a month. Got to visit him a few times, was the best outdoorsman I have ever met; one could learn a thing or two if you could hook up with someone like that for a spell. I did.
  16. Its a looney bin. Just a hunting/gun forum, decent classifieds for the most part. Mostly Americans, but a few Canucks, and a handful from other places. I find it super "clique"y if thats a word......the "regulars" will give advice that is very outdated at times but have like 50,000 posts so folks take their word as gospel. Lawdwaz posts there, couple others I see from this thread, but we use the same screen names, not sure about anyone else from this forum. I know a couple guys from African section that have a clue (as there are many who don't, that post just awful advice there) so I check that out and a few other boards. I post once and a while just in case I use the classifieds and it adds to a post count a little. Bought and sold a few things there over the years with good transactions. I'm sure Lawdwaz could add more, he has hung out there more and knows way more members than I do.
  17. I tie those sparse with only one wrap of hackle, and put a small ball of dubbing right behind hackle, makes legs stand out.
  18. Good to know. I have permission to turkey hunt very close to them in a couple of fields.
  19. How is that? Just up the road from me, drove by there this morning. But I've never tried it.
  20. +1 This is why I'm a glass is almost empty guy and hunting will eventually be doomed; hunters can't support each other and want all to fit what they consider to be their ethics. Shame really.
