  1. I'd probably say "Das Boot". Jerimiah Johnson sounds familiar, just to be sure added to my netflix que.
  2. I bet some of these humane society F-tards wouldn't like it so much if they couldn't eat any more shrimp. I mean gooly gee a single tear rolls down my cheek there such little meat on their bodys..
  3. Would like to give it a go with the bow out of the blind. Which reminds me to make sure the blinds in good shape and practice out of it.
  4. Maybe a dwarf hybrid? Except I don't think their fruit is crab size. I think most crab trees, usually acorn size fruit yellowish or reddish. And then I see alot of decorative crabs, I think they are crabs the fruit is red, like you said wild cherry size. Side note: If you can keep the damn tent catipilars off them they look great and usually produce well. Bounced a few back to life just from destroying the nests with a long stick.
  5. A horseshoe pit would be a good addition. But the next run back up to camp, hopefully in about 2 weeks will be to get some work done. Was up there a few weeks ago with the Poulan, cutting up a tree that fell over the main path. Jeep took the ride up ok, seasonal road was packed down snow, I think some of the snowmobilers I saw probably thought I was nuts. Need to take the utility trailer, a little fill, the pick, shovel etc., and clear - level out enough in front of the camp to be able to manuver the camper into. Might not sound like much but most of you guys know, that could take all day. Pit was in good shape, covered with some plywood over winter. Looking forward to when I can get up there & use the dutch oven again. Realy like that thing.
  6. Cool pics, how happy would you be if you just awoke from a slumber to someone throwing snowballs at you?
  7. I'm kind of wondering about the shots I hear durring the opening day of Archery. Waterfoul my @ss.
  8. http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S177A-2011 Yays 53 / Nays 7. Passed Senate on its way to the DEC. That may be a bit like depending on the postal service to deliver a heart transplant but I'm impressed by the votes. Also posted about this on the Pathfinder site, we get well over 1k hits a month. This will help get the word out to other clubs, CNY friends of the NRA, the clubs youth programs etc.
  9. Now they are babys? How about get over yourself a little bit.
  10. That. Or a lease. I wish I could have started my son earlier but he grew up before the current changes were in affect. I would support this bill. Even if it goes into affect it doesn't mean a child of age will take to archery as we understand it. The path the child does take to still requires nurturing, guidance and enthusiasm.
  11. Squirrel hunting in the Trail of Tears area S. Ill a few years ago.* Took a break against a tree for maybe 30 or so minutes, got ready to get up - looked down and just 2 & 1/2 feet directly in front of me is a Diamondback Rattler the size of a spare tire - all neatly coiled up and tasting the air. Head on that thing was wide as a baseball bat. Life before my eyes moment. Not sure how I didn't litteraly piss myself, but I lowered the 25mn barrel like it was supposta help and slowly backed out of there. Meanwhile this snake must have decided I wasn't lunch. Frackin do not like snakes, somehow that one got that close and the drop on me. *Bunch of rimfire squirrel hunters used to get together form all over the country.
  12. Well statisticaly yeah hunting is safer then driving your car, or going to the hospital. But since it involves hunting and or firearms, why then the dec must attempt to appease the public.
  13. Fantail

    Leeks!

Wondered what that stuff was. When I saw this thread I thought; someone has a leaky tent.
  14. I would like nothing more then the snow to be gone at camp so I can get some $3|^ done. But it's still March, not for much longer guys.
  15. In a nutshell, yes a tiller will have problems with that. At least to a point you will have to be prepaired to stop on occasion, shut down - disengauge the tines and free up the rocks & larger roots it won't cut through. Last year I rented an 8hp frankintiller. It had mega balls but regardless in churning about a 1/2 acre I had to stop no less then 6 times to clear the tines / housing. And on larger rocks or flat shale it would jump out of place. Now common sence would say down the road sure you'll still have rocks but the same lot will get easier to pass. The same sence tells me you go in there with any front time tiller to start with and I can about garuntee you will damage it & frustrate yourself. Doesn't matter how fancy the name is.
  16. Hey I tried this the other day, for a company picnic share-a-dish thing. Had alot of compliments. I axed the beans and used a crock pot but other then that it was a nice change of pace. We do this about twice a year, and I of course usually do a venison dish. For many co-workers this is the only menu of venison they ever see.
  17. Was going to be a wise guy and say No, but after I till a plot I do pray alot. Unless I'm mistaken the mantis tiller is a two cycle front tine type. Probably a decent garden tiller but I would say it's not designed for hard rocky woods soil - heavy duty use. You'll be bouncing all over the place and probably beat the snot out of it.
  18. Hey Lawdwaz; just wondering the older camper in the pic - is that a Shasta or a Woodsman?
  19. Picked up an Ariens 5hp rear-tine. Used but in excellent shape. Kind of looking forward to putting it to work.
  20. I would tent up again without to much grumble. Heck up untill this year tenting was the game plan, and it was ok. It's just time for something else. Speaking of, got some work done on the old woodsman. Cabinet under the sink is about done, replaced the lower drawers with a slide out and spare storage. Reframing where the fridge / furnace was for cooler slide-outs and a dry storage area. Salvaged the dc blower motor - should be able to convert it to a bathroom vent. All the lighting fixtures and any exposed wires removed and replaced with lcd.
  21. Here's a link to another outfit in the Ithaca area. http://www.cumminsnursery.com/available2011.php
  22. Nice greenage! I was thinking of trying a brassica / clover mix in a plot much like the one in growalot's pic. From some info I found yes it would seem chickory root helps the plant's drought resistance. Tossing some into the mix seems to make sence. Growalot; I'm wondering how the soil was conditioned - treated? I mean ph, lime, fertelizer.
