"Maybe" was key word I do believe. I agree on less likely of getting winded from a stand as on the ground but thermals and swirling winds can do weird things in either case

Who's on first ? My head is spinning trying to figure this debacle out.

I will still hunt primarily with snow on the ground. Love my snow camo and cutting tracks and seeing brown on white is a lot easier than without snow. with snowshoes on I can be pretty darn quiet to boot. I try to walk as slow as I can and then go slower

Live from the road : 8g and 9h. Lots of fawns without mama in fields at go time. Only a few big bodied deer solo out in fields. Snow makes it easy to spot them while driving -

Awesome !!! I'm so excited to get my 13 year old daughter in a newly made ground blind with me on gun opener. Your daughter has some good gear ! Mine will be clad in whatever is warm lol. And a orange vest of course. I do buy her new turkey hunting clothes and boots every spring . Great looking food plots ! Hope your daughter didn't take getting busted too hard. Sounds like a great day, I've hunted awhile and never saw bucks fighting. Cool stuff for you and her to share. Have a big smile after reading your blog. Hope to post a similar great experience after gun opener. -

Mind you I'm looking at pic on my phone. Doesn't look like that is this years rub. Is /was there wood shavings of bark on the ground ? -
Shed layers on the way in and carry them. You sweat on the way in and you're done. You'll get cold quick after sweating. Moisture wicking garments are good. I wear Smartwool long underwear tops and bottoms and very happy with them. Definitely wear a layer to block the wind. I have one of those North Face fleece zip up jackets I wear for cooler weather in everyday occurances. (not hunting ) The thing has kept me warm on a day it was 0 degrees out with no wind but sucked at 40 degrees with some wind. I second the facemask, muff with handwarmers and good boots.

ThermaCell heated insoles

Out of curiosity I just read reviews on Cabela's . Meh, 5 hours of heat, few saying need more heat. But in this case "FREE is a great price " I do like the Handwarmer style toe warmers for cold seats. -

Dang !! Glad everyone is ok. I'm sold on hunting makes us more aware of our surroundings in everyday routines. Especially driving. My head is always on a swivel and seem to notice everything. Sadly we can't teach people common sense on how they drive. -

I have some acorn scented cover up spray . I'll spray my pants and boots down before heading into my stand. Hmm, now that I think of it, wonder what the deer think of it as there is NO acorns in the area ?!
