I've used peat moss in the past. Home Depot/Lowes or a garden center will have it. It's nice that it reduces traps from freezing but getting a good solid "bed" takes some time. Make your trap bed, sprinkle some peat in. You still have to pack some dirt as close to jaws as possible and then use peat to fill in the gaps between dirt and jaw. Hope this makes sense. Look up waxed dirt on youtube. It takes some time to prepare but works well.

You forgot PACK MULE to haul all that crap in

I will get you a grinner (opossum ) for $25 if you would like I do believe all grinners are rabies free as I heard their metabolism is too slow to get rabies. $20 if the paint from the double yellow line is on it.

Hazmore Silent Seats

I use the small bungee cords with S hooks on either side and pull it tight and out of the way on my Summit to climb. I'll take the "comfy" over any problems with it. Dark to dark in it is easy providing I brought enough snacks. I can't fall asleep with the TV on, on an airplane etc but in the woods and in this thing I stand a chance -
Are we still talking for muzzleloader or "I'm sorry for your significant other" ? Just kidding. Yes, I've heard of people using those too

The cap seals tight in the breech plug which is the only way to the powder except the bore. Stick a piece of electrical tape over the bore and your waterproof. I used the corner of a plastic baggie and a rubber band last year in a pinch. Stuffed all my venison jerky from the bag into my chest pocket. Made for easier consumption too lol

turkeyfeathers replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Deer Hunting
How'd all those 5.5 year old bucks taste btw ? -
Are you shooting a flintlock or inline ? Put a piece of electrical tape over the end of your barrel if inline.

Smoked Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Backstrap
turkeyfeathers replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
I use the bacon weave for "bacon explosions " and it works great on the smoker. -
Burt dam used to be disgusting with guys gutting salmon and throwing on the banks. Fishing line and garbage everywhere too. Combat fishing to boot.

nice caller !! I'm still carrying around my Johnny Stewart with cassettes and long cord to speaker

That would be a lot of gas or ammo to get the job done.

Just took wifes car in last week to Basil Chevrolet . $31 out the door Few years ago I took my Subaru into a little oil change place for oil change. I got in car, drove 50 feet and awful grinding noise. Walked in to talk to manager. He has the balls to tell me it wasn't anything they did. Turns out they drained the tranny fluid and then filled oil. Car was undrivable had to flatbed car to dealership to have it fixed. They paid for the service and I got personal guarantee from them stating if I had tranny problems down the road they'd cover it. And a couple of free oil change coupons. Um, yeah, no thanks !!

Pretty action packed opener. So many walkers would have made a great quarry shoot. Think we're in for a pretty good season
-
The opener was fun to watch but how many true scoring opportunities were there really ? No sitting on the edge of the chair and going " oh my " Didn't know they implemented the coaches challenge until I saw it. Took awhile after the goal to challenge too. Tampa, ya, thought we stood a chance. I'll still continue watching as they are only bound to get better once they mesh a little bit more. Need a goalie !! Not true about recording "free weekends " of movie channels with our DirecTV at least on our system . Do it all the time.

What time do you usually end your morning hunt
turkeyfeathers replied to Chef's topic in Deer Hunting
I drive an hour to location. I'll sit all day dark to dark unless I pull the trigger on a deer. Then I still may field dress it and hunt the rest of the day depending on temps. -
Did you see projected fur prices ? My steel will remain in basement this year.

Pretty clear here in WNY tonight. Been outside a few times watching satellites. Good night for it. They look like planes but higher up with no blinking lights. Pretty cool IMO
