I go through 3-4 dozen a year no idea how many in my life.

11 to 2:30 has been when I've seen all deer activity for the last week.

Rage broadheads turned me into a believer today
Buckmaster7600 replied to Hock3y24's topic in Bow Hunting
I've never seen a deer get away from a good shot with any broad head. -
if this is to me I was replying to Larry.

If I am reading this correct "we took the stand down and put it in the barn" he's talking about the other guys stand correct?

You moved someone else's property that had just as much right to be there as yours. "Ahole" or not you broke the law not him. Don't like dealing with other people hunting where you hunt buy or lease your own.

I hit a doe with a haybine and it cut her head off, I didn't want to put her in the cab with me as she was very "messy" I called and they said do what I want with it. Don't know if they just didn't want to come out or what but I strapped her to the haybine and brought her home.

For an Eco officer to enter my property they need a search warrant or must believe that there is illegal activity, some a$$ hole wounding a deer that dies on my property doesn't meet that criteria!
-
If the land owner says "no you can not come on my property" to the dec officer than this story does not work.
-
And for those that think dec can come on my property to look for a deer someone hit, WRONG. Had someone try this approach 2 years ago dec called I said no he said ok have a nice day. Dec cannot enter my property without a warrant or if someone is in danger.

I have nearly 400 acres and my neighbors know if they need to track they don't have to ask! I have a 3 acre plot of county land that borders me and every year I get at least 4 or 5 knocks on the door from idiots who hit one on the county land and want to track my answer every time is NO! Then I go get in my stand and ensure they do not try. I'm the a** hole I guess but oh well when they want to split my taxes and my food plots to go walking through my sanctuaries and ruin my hunting for their incompetence we can talk again!

As far as sabots I have always had luck with the accutip remingtons but at around 4$ a round they are pricey.

If your in a shotgun only area that's a great choice if not then I see no reason to use a shot there are many downsides to shotgun, recoil, ammo cost, limited range. The list can go on and on. When I hunted shotgun only I loved my 870 cantaliever however since it changes to rifle it hasn't been shot.

Dissapointed in Remington
Buckmaster7600 replied to WhitetailAddict11's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
The 5 times I have had firearms sent back to Remington with 3 different guns it. 1 was painless within 2 weeks they contacted me on what dealer they would like me to send my new gun to the other 4 were long with little to no communication and never resolved. I buy a lot of guns and have had to send back to other companies my best experience with a gun company was Rossi they were very upfront about their backlog and warned me of a long wait time and I had the gun back in 3 weeks and it was fixed with a long hand written description of how it was fixed and an apology for the inconvenience. Cva would be a close second. -
I'm killing the animal as it is my duty.I could care less about my name in a book!
-
Are you saying it's worth letting the deer suffer "X" hrs to get your name in a book??

I agree 100 percent and that is why I feel customer service after the purchase is as important as the product purchased. -
Thanks Larry this is my thoughts exactly outlaws will be outlaws someday maybe people will realize this!

I have the leupold rx1000 I think its called and I love it have had it for about 5 years and it's been flawless.

If looking for a light one I highly recomend the x stand it literally takes 30 seconds from being on my back to hanging in a tree. I also love my lone wolf. I feel that these 2 stands are the best of the best when it comes to super light climbers. I don't know the weights of either but I don't think they are much over 10 pounds if that.

Rifle Caliber- Which would you choose?
Buckmaster7600 replied to pitweiler's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I call my gun shop and tell him what I need "guns or ammo" if it can be got he has it for me in 3 business days. I drive by a dicks and 2 walmarts to buy from him. If that costs me 5 dollars extra a box oh well! -
I know in North Carolina it is legal to shoot a wounded deer with a handgun. I hunted there for 8 years and never once heard of it being an issue. Let's look at it like this, as a handgun hunter and a bow hunter both take a lot of practice to become proficient so for someone to go "hunting" with the intent of killing a deer with their pistol to then make it look like they killed it with a bow just doesn't seem practical to me. If a Leo sees someone dragging a deer out of the woods with a gun shot wound and a arrow wound and they have a scoped 44mag in a chest holster and are carrying a bow that seems pretty questionable. I shoot my pistols a lot and I am not anywhere need as proficient with any of my "carry" guns as I am my bow.

yup have to just set down and watch them suffer! Or take the risk of getting hurt trying slit it's throat. this is one of the many cases where the law makes an honest person an outlaw or a "poacher"
-
This is obviously a controversial subject I could care less if this law was passed in NY the one I do care about is It being illegal to carry a sidearm while bow hunting. And they kind of go hand in hand.
