Drove a sled i shouldn't have
ApexerER replied to dbHunterNY's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
I have been snowmobiling for years and years. I love it...Probably not worth the investment I have into it compared to time to ride but if it wasn't for snowmobiling, I am not sure I would survive winter. Between an enclosed trailer, sled, and gear I am sure I have 15k invested and I am thinking about buying a new sled since mine is a 2012. Only sled I have never owned is a cat. Boy if you could ride a new Polaris Axis or Skidoo with R-motion you wouldn't want to get off if you thought that old cat was great to ride. I rode my buddies 2017 skidoo this weekend and it didn't really feel much different than my 12 so I am thinking I will wait at least another year to upgrade.... -
Prayers sent, hope all is well and a speedy recovery happens!

Book Stores Against Trump
ApexerER replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I have sent him pm's before because I was truly curious about his way of thinking. He always responded and we had very civil conversations. I completely disagreed with just about everything that he said, but he responded without ever putting me down. If you are serious....send him a PM. I stopped because his views honestly scared me but there was never any insulting on either part. -
I love seeing pics of your property grow.....looks like such a nice spot and all the effort you put in growing your different plots etc....

Wow that stinks....He/she is so young. I would get it looked at but if there isn't anything they can do...I would think a house pet could still have a quality life being blind as long as it is loved and cared for....Obviously if it is a hunting or working dog things will have to change. My guess though is that animals are very adaptable and it will probably be harder for you than the lab....Good luck...

I lost my best friend 2 years ago on 2/20. I hate reading these posts because I still get that lump in my throat and my eyes well up thinking about him. Non animal people don't understand that they are not only a family member but a 100% loyal companion. I know what you are going through and I am sorry. RIP Jenny....so sorry for your loss.....

Even In The Country, Laziness Makes Me Laugh
ApexerER replied to DirtTime's topic in General Chit Chat
I don't know if paying someone to shovel/plow is lazy. When it snows, I deal with it all day at work. By the time I get home, the last thing I want to deal with is my driveway. Luckily for me my neighbor almost always plows it. I buy him a gift card at the end of the season every year along with a thank you card. He plows most of the neighbors out, I think he enjoys it since he is retired. If he stopped doing it, I would seriously consider hiring someone to do it. Not because I am lazy, because I am whopped after an all day snowstorm.... I also feel like my time is valuable. A few years back, I had 32 trees cut down in my yard. This is just a neighborhood sized yard and I still have a lot of trees left. Before the trees were cut down my leaves in the fall were ridiculous. (now they are barely manageable). I used to pay a lawn care company to do a fall clean up before the trees were cut down. Between working, and being my daughters soccer coach on a travel team (very time consuming) along with other things that needed to get done I was/am lucky to have Sunday to enjoy myself. I could spend two or three Sundays cleaning up leaves, bagging them up and dragging to the road, or I could pay someone and enjoy myself. I didn't get my leaves cleaned up this fall and my back yard is a mess. (mostly because i spent my Sunday's hunting) I may pay someone to do them. Not because I am lazy, but because my free time is very valuable to me.... -

If I actually had a kid (and I have a neighborhood full of them) ask to shovel my driveway. I would give him/her the job in a heartbeat. I would be so pleased to see a kid doing that in this day in age. Same reason I stop at the on or two lemonade stands that pop up over the summer.... -
Good for you Grampy....That's an awesome amount of will power!.....I need to loose about 30lbs....seems I will always start tomorrow.....One of these days tomorrow will come....or not...

Great story, thanks for posting it....

I had the same problem....Probably to many people filling it out so they made it so they only accept Nay votes....

That was really cool to read...Thank you for taking the time to post that.....Looks great! Beautiful Deer!

I agree with everyone else....That was a dirtbag move 100%. I would never do that to another hunter. I am mad for you! Even if I found it in the spring while out hiking I would give you a call to see if it was the deer you shot. What the hell is wrong with people. Even if I didn't know who shot it, I wouldn't want somebody else's deer....

The one and only time I got a flu shot I got the flu. That was at least 5 years ago. My wife and daughter get the flu shot every year. Both have had the flu and not had the flu. In my mind it doesnt' do anything but who knows...
-
LOL, I was kidding....That's funny though that you cut those two trees and now have deer bedding there....Maybe it really did make a difference....My guess though is it is the cedar trees....
-
must be because of the hinge cut.....I wish I lived where that could happen instead of a development...

I switched for basically no other reason than I wanted to try them. They grouped tighter than anything else I had shot. Not that anything has grouped poorly. I am positive that the three shots through the lungs had no expansion at all. Pencil sized entrance and exit wounds. Maybe they had a bad batch go out or something. I don't know...I know a lot of people swear by Hornady....
-
I went back to the Federal Fusion 165gr....Never had any issues with them....
-
My buck didn't die quickly....I actually wonder if I hadn't spined him on the fourth shot if I would have even found him had he bolted on the first shot. He expired as I walked up to him. Which was at least a few minutes later by the time I lowered my gun and climbed down. He was trying to get up after I spined him. With one shot through the lungs, I believe he would have went a long ways. I had three tiny entrance holes and three tiny exit holes with almost no internal damage. The only bullet that I could tell expanded was the spine shot. First and last time using the Hornady SST for me....

Beautiful deer and great story...I always enjoy reading peoples stories about successful hunts...
