  1. I hope he gets the book thrown at him! 7:10 is pretty dark! I was in Alexandria Bay this morning and saw the watertown times in a vending machine and this story was the headline.
  2. If I find a find a tree stand up on my property that a trespasser put up, I now own it. I HOPE they come looking for it so I can call the authorities. I'm amazed at the patience of some of you guys. I'm not being critical as I know we're all different, but I don't care if it's the first offense, I'm calling the police and pressing charges. My property is well posted, anybody trespassing is doing so with full knowledge they're there illegally.
  3. That's good news. I'm sure the other hunters will really appreciate you holding off this year....very decent of you!
  4. We don't hesitate to shoot does here....they're so tasty!
  5. Not a particular day, but the first week in November is usually special.
  6. I wouldn't take the chance either. The field bordering my woods had the corn chopped recently, and there are thousands of geese there every day. I know there are going to be guys blasting there Saturday, so I'll be using a stand away from that area.
  7. Are you talking about groundhog radish? I put some in this year and they're just starting to get hit. I'm hoping they get approval for roundup ready sugar beets soon...then I'll give them a try.
  8. I'll bet you a beer they get around to eating them! ;D
  9. I was stationed on Wellesley Island with the Coast Guard. One of my buddies shot a nice 8 pointer about 100 yards from the station. There definitely seemed to be a lot of deer on the island.
  10. I never bow hunt in the rain. A light drizzle yes, enough rain to wash away a blood trail, no. Gun hunting is completely different in my opinion. It's pretty rare I have to track a gunshot deer like a do bow shot deer.
  11. Let me know when they start hitting yours. I got nothing yet and we've had 3 frosts so far. Maybe after the other food sources start getting cleaned up... I had 6 deer in my brassicas last night....glad to see them now hitting them!
  12. I'm retired from the USCG, now work Federal Law Enforcement for a different agency.
  13. Just plant some grapes for them and you could have peanut butter and jelly flavored venison.
  14. I'll let you know. My buddy 2 miles away said they're hammering his now.
  15. Great looking plots and property! I also planted some ghr and der, for sure they'll get eaten after we get a few hard frosts.
  16. Good luck tomorrow. Gonna be a long night. Please let us know what happens.
  17. I think part of the answer is to only allow 1 buck per hunter per season.
  18. The last thing I want to see around here are hogs. They totally destroy crops, food plots, etc. Once they're here, it's just about impossible to get rid of them. They won't leave your property until they run out of food there.
  19. I'm in Federal Law Enforcement, so the economy hasn't personally affected me. I do see signs of the downturn in our area though. The real estate market is terrible.....nobody is buying.
  20. That's the way I like to see coyotes....dead! Lot's of them around here unfortunately.
