Just wondering. Some of you guys have stated that you know you get back your deer and only your deer when you take to your butcher. How? Do you watch them from start to finish. Is your deer the only one in the place? Just asking because I have been told I should try a certain butcher because you get your own deer back and they do a great job. I ask how they are sure they get only there meat back they respond with that's what they told me. Not that I will ever take one to pay someone to cut when I can do it myself and be sure it is the way I want it. Just asking how you are sure. I could never be unless I watched from start to finish.

Weven were having a nice conversations. Why do you have to try to start an arguement? Why don't you put up a few pics of the huge old bucks you shoot. Only time I ever seen anything from you was my first post here ever. You posted a pic of deer that you guys got at the park to show what great bucks you get down there. Funny part was the pics of deer I posted in that thread were all of older and bigger deer then any in your pic. You keep talking about getting big old trophy bucks yet never a pic. They must be really hard to find since you never have pics of them. I have said many times hunt for meat only yet still have posted more pics of good bucks then I have seen you post. Do you ever actually get off you trophy farm? As I said we were having a nice talk no calling each other out ,name calling or anything kind of an arguement. Why try to start something. Have you been hanging out with downtown dipstick?

What does anyone think about a 10 gauge
stubby68 replied to Al Bundy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have an H& R 10 and a New England10 . Never liked them for anything other then turkey. They do kick like a mule do not think I would want to fire me then a couple times a day. A friend of mine has a 10 Guage pump ,never paid attention to what it is. He sent it out and had it force coned. He uses it for turkey and duck. After three shots back to back he is done shoulder is bruised for days. Only brings it for ducks we he feels like punishing himself. -
My brother lives just east of Lincoln . He started hunting september. He hunted with a riffle bow or muzzle loader every day. It was which ever weapon he chose to use. Some days he would use one in the am an a different one in pm. He has lived there for 10 years hunted like that every season. Are some areas bow , muzzel,or riffle only yea. But in one area you can be using a gun while a guy in another area uses a bow. I am not saying you are wrong I just know what he hunts with and when and that he hunts all over the state. He might only hunt in special areas where this is allowed I never asked .only know he hunts a lot of the state. As for the shorter bow season. I was simply stating what bow hunters have already said in this and other threads. They see more deer during bow season. They are calm easy to pattern the bigger bucks are out during the day. When gun season starts the deer are nervous, fewer to be seen and instantly become night stalkers. Again repeating what bow hunters have said. Less pressure during bow season. Using those statements one would conclude that deer are harder to kill during gun season being there are fewer to be seen during hunting hours. I was responding to the statement that gun hunters do not need as much time to kill a deer. If the are fewer to be seen in hunting hours and they are all nervous then that makes them harder to kill right? Add to that the colder Temps that gun hunters deal with. I bow hunted for many years never had a problem seeing nor killing deer . Warm weather and calm predictable deer especially the bucks that time of year never made for a chalange. I always said I was going to kill something. Never thought I might not get anything. In fact it wasn't until me people started bone hunting and found out that bucks were easier to kill early that I started hearing people say how hard and challenging bow hunting was. Bow hunters s a year they like the challenge so why do they need a special season to make sure they get an award. Warmer weather calm deer. Easy reward. Want a challenge try bow hunting while everyone around you is using a gun. And I mean in the same woods not private land where guys 2 plots are gun hunting and you are all alone on 40 acres with maybe only one other hunter both using a gun. I know what you are thinking and no I do not want to hunt with guns during October. I do not even like hunting during November if temps are above 30. If it is not cold and deer are not hard to find it is not hunting. You want to manage a deer heard stop shooting only big old bucks and take some doe and a few little bucks. The heard needs a balance of young old and bucks and does. Not just all young bucks and lots of doe.

U got nails just down the road from me then. They get 5 or 6 people a day there. They drop almost every ticket to a parking, ticket.

If I couldn't butcher my own wild game I would not hunt. I don't trust any of them.

I use to do basement water proofing. From Rochester to Buffalo and Olean and parts in between. Older and newer houses. We would cut the floor about 2 foot from the wall. Dig everything out to 18 inches or more. Fill in with number 2 stone and drain pipe. Then concrete. Sometimes the home owner would want a drain in center of floor. Same thing cut dig fill. Drain would connect with drain pipe along wall. That pipe would go into a hole with a drain barrel and sump pump in it. Sometimes they were ran under wall and out side to a gravel drain bed. Usually put them in for drainage for just in case needs.

A couple of years a guy was bow hunting in Bliss. He hit a deer about 80 yards in off the road. Deer ran across road was hit by a guy driving home from work. The insurance of the guy driving the car paid for it. The driver tried to sue saying deer would never have been in road if the hunter had never shot it. He was told (as grow said) hunter has no control over where deer runs just as a hiker would not. Act of nature. If he had not shot deer it still could have crossed road. Deer are wild animals no control over where they go. Not like cows or other domesticated animals that are fenced in.

How to tell a friend he isn't doing it right.

Yes I don't sugar coat anything for anyone. Life is not sugar coated so why should candy things up just to not hurt someone's feelings. Not my problem if they want to be sensitive and not handel reality. Everyone in my life knows this and expects it from me. If they don't like it they can leave -
I live in arcade. Use to live in bliss. I have hunted a lot of land in both areas. Can't put my finger on wher exactly but those fields look familiar . I will probably have the location pop into my head in a while and have an aha moment.

Presidential Sabotage?

You do know she didn't win right? The guy who is smart enough to be a billionaire business man and run hundreds of companies did. The guy who was smart enough to know that America was ready for a change. The guy who was smart enough to know what Americans want and need won. The guy who has been lurking around running for president for years but waiting for the right time so as he could insure a win. I have no clue if he will be a great leader just as you do not. He can not be as bad as some of our past leaders. We gave your guy a chance for 8 years and it was a train wreck. Why not Give this guy a chance? Even if the next 4 years are only a little better then what we have had that is something. If nothing else he proved that we need a change in this country and got people to stand up and say we want that change. -
Poaching at night is done from a vehicle by sticking a we a pon out the window and shooting. Try sticking a crossbow out the window of a vehical. Hard to increase night poaching with a weapon you have to get out of vehicles to use. Deer would be gone before you c old shoot them. Any place they would let you stop and get out while they are only 40 or 5 yards away must have a lot of pet deer. Answer this if the crossbow is such a great weapon for poaching deer then why has it not been used until now? Being legal to hunt with has nothing to do with it. They could always own a crossbow before. Funny they wait to use such a magical weapon to illegally kill deer until it is legal to hunt with. A 22 is the most used weapon for poaching deer yet you can not hunt deer with them legally. So why did they wait to use the magical killing machine. What poacher wants to track an arrow shot through the woods with a light for everyone to see?
-
A flashlight in a field or the woods draws more attention to people then a single bang. And if they were heard and cops were called the response time is so long they would be back have the deer and be gone. If any call is made it is a low priority and checked on when they feel like. Deer are not jacked in towns or cities where the shots could mean any danger to someone. Low priority. I if you have talked with them you would know that a 22 is used to shoot the deer in the head. It is called a drop and go gun. Little noise. I hunt with troopers sheriff's and ecos they say calls for shots at night are little to none. Funny how poachers only thought of using these ultimate poaching weapons after they were made legal to hunt with. Wonder why they never used them before. Try sticking one out a truck window then try it with a 22. Which is easier

Cities Gearing up to Resist Trump

Are you sure a bird would even waste a good cap on th a team paper? -
That are pushing for another bow to be used in bow season. Not pushing for some guns and not others. What they want is for bow hunters to be able to use the type of bow they want during the bow season. Saying no guns is not being a hypocrite. Bow season is just that bow season. There are some bow hunters who want crossbows all season. A hypocrite would be someone who does not want another weapon that works the same and kills the same as others that are included in that season. You are the hypocrite by saying you only want the type of bow that you use to be aloud in your season. They are not saying that they are saying bow season for bows gun season for guns. You are saying bow season for my bow. Everything stay out be it bow or gun.
-
They want exclude a weapon that in no way is a bow. They want a weapon that is like a bow included. In other words they want another type of bow but not a gun. The hypocrisy would be if they wanted to include one type of gun but not another. They want to use a different type of the same weapon all ready being used. Just like putting riffles into shotgun season. Different type of the same weapon used there too. Shotgun, riffle. Both guns both fire a projectile using gun powder as an energy. Both kill with shock and damage. Bow, crossbow. Both fire a projectile using stored energy in a string. Both kill by cutting and hemorrhaging. Where is the hypocrisy in wanting to use a bow during bow season.
-
As long as they do not make a separate tag for crossbow you would still only be able to take 3 bucks. Too many. They wouldn't be adding a buck tag just a weapon. I believe we should go to one buck rule but saying we need it bease of crossbows is wrong. We should just have it. The one buck rule in Ohio is not the reason crossbows did not ruin bow season there. The rule wasn't imposed on just crossbows it is on all weapons.
-
It hasn't ruined it in other states where crossbows are used. So you admit bow hunting is easy and say crossbows will make it easier. You are also made that someone else is hunting during the rut. You want to keep the easier warmer time of hunting for yourself. By they way I do not use a bow or crossbow and have no desire to. I just do not see a reason to keep it out of bow season. It uses a string and a sharp stick just like a bow. It kills by cutting. Sounds like a bow.
-
How is wanting another type of bow into bow season and not wanting guns being a hypocrite? Now if he wanted muzzle loaders but not shotguns or riffle then he would be a hypocrite. A crossbow uses a string for energy and throws anot stick with a point on it same as a bow. It kills by cutting and causing the animal to bleed out. Same as a bow. No one fought against riffles being brought into gun season and they have a clear advantage over shotguns. You have said giving crossbows full inclusion so people who can't shoot a bow or don't have the time to practice and be proficient withone is the same as making sure everyone gets to play or get a trophy. Isn't that the same thing that is being done with a special bow season. Make sure the people who do not want to hunt in the cold or when there are more hunters have a time to have there reward. Make in sure bow hunters have the warm weather to hunt in and when more deer are seen and more easily patterned is like making sure they get to play .
-
You don't think a flashlight in the woods or field in the middle of the night would draw attention. Especially on posted property. Easier to drop the deer where it stands. Drive away. Then come back an hour later grab deer and go. No tracking no flashlight. The sound of the shot is most times not even enjoy heard sense poachers wouldn't be doing this in view of a house being seen or heard is low. Have you never talked with a known poacher or an old timer who tells stories of how the use to do it. A gun shot really does not attract much attention at night when people are in side there house and probably sleeping. Saying the crossbow causes more poaching is really grasping at straws. Any excuse to make they look bad. Now if you are talking about hunting on posted land then that is different. Let's see gun makes noise land owner hears the shot on his land goes and checks poacher cought. Bow or crossbow make no noise user is in camo. Hard to see no noise to hear. Owner does not know they are there poacher goes free.
-
Yes because we all know that it is easier to shoot a deer with an arrow then track it with a flashlight then to use a gun and kill it where it stands. If they use crossbows then why wouldn't they use compounds. Oh wait a bow hunter would never do anything illegal. Only guys with guns or crossbows.
-
That poll showed nothing. I voted for crossbow. I do not bow hunt nor do I use a crossbow. How many others voted for the crossbow that do not bow hunt?
-
This statement and others like it are what causes the divide between bow hunters and gun hunters. We are all just hunters why do bow hunters constantly say things like this.
