  1. I ditched tv years ago. I watch Youtube and the occassional movie from apps.. Much much better!
  2. Ten four, I guess thats what i needed. Now that i look at it agan, I guess i was just mis reading the chart. Thanks for the clear up. i appreciate that.
  3. So I also just went on the DEC website and it says a permit is required to take coyotes threatening or killing private property/livestock.. Please correct me if i'm wrong? https://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/81531.html
  4. Definitely worth it sir!
  5. Well Dang, That's how i always thought it was as well. Guess ill do my own homework(I should anyways) lol. Thanks sir.
  6. Idk what is out that way, but ammo is starting to hit the shelves more regularly now.. If closer Id let you have a few shells. Good luck, Turkey hunting is awesome as long as you have birds in the area..
  7. Get yourself the mathews quiver to go with it. you wont be dissappointed. Nice setup! I lve my HHA shoot it and get used to it, and remember to check it before drawing back on a real life target.. I like to leave mine at 25yrd mark. Best of luck!
  8. Scout, find where turkeys want to be, where there available foods are.. bugs/insects, Acorns, nuts, dandelion heads, you name it.. stay on higher ground. When you watch a tim in his normal patterns remember them.. Remeber where you see bird senter fields.. OAk ridges are good spots.. pines are good on hot sunny days, most all critters like to be out of the heavy wind as much as possible, Rain typically moves birds to the fields, Sound natural as can be.. everyone wants a hot gobbling bird to walk in to the gun barrel.. most times it aint happening.. scratch leaves and use soft clucks and such in common feeding areas.. act like a turkey.. its not always how your call sounds, ive heard some hens that probably had an adams apples lol
  9. I was told by several coyote hunters I associate with that a permit is needed even for coyotes killing livestock. I was always under the impression before this that you could shoot one on your own without permits if livestock was being harmed. But also a friend who is a nuisance trapper through this state said the same thing, DEC must give a permit to allow a certain number to be killed.
  10. Nice, My neighbors calves are getting pounded on by the local yote population. Trying to get him to call dec and get a permit and allow me permission. Told me to just go up there and kill them but im not going in illegally.
  11. When a hen is bred for days, but the hen population is higher than the male population like in most instances.. how does the (1)dominant bird do the majority of the breeding? The hens do not take turns getting bred. It just doesn’t happen like that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Seen and heard several jakes this weekend.. only one big Tom which was only a few steps from dying. Never even heard another Tom gobble. The few jakes is a good sign. But as mentioned habitat loss and bad weather is the worse Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Alot of times its liquid fertilizer. But some ground around me was sprayed with gly/ or something as they are dying now.. every farmer does things a little different. And i have yet ot have answers for some of it lol/.. I also believe i seen a no till planted corn field yesterday. As for the turkeys its probably more due to there being more green growing available grasses and forbs..
  14. Called in a stud bird for my boy yesterday and into range but could not seal the deal. He walked away into other property and picked up hens and went silent.. We went to a few other farms with no luck but Jakes.. And he doesnt want to shoot Jakes anymore
  15. My 500 mossbergs shoot great as well. I just got a cool after market stock to put on this one so it’s my go to 20ga now. I’d have kept my first mossberg 500 combo if I didn’t lend it to my brother and have him pawn it on me, as well as my 17hmr. First 2 guns I ever bought Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. My 20gauge 870 with 20$ tightwad 570 choke and my handloads #8 @35yrd Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I can’t argue what is seen down there. And from how it’s been described, habitat seems much more beneficial to turkey in your areas than ours. Hats off to you fellas, more birds means more fun! LOL Less ag farming and more natives and cover. Just seems these parts here get farmed harder and harder each year , using techniques that aren’t designed to incorporate wildlife. Not saying we have no birds, but the numbers are definitely low. Hunter density has risen, and mature hardwoods are spread across every hillside. Timber management all across the western southern tier here would benefit a lot. I will have t check thee numbers out bc I have many many sportsman friends and hardly any but maybe a couple even participate in Fall turkey season, and the bow hunters rarely ever put an arrow into a turkey during fall either. Not arguing your research. Just seems off around these parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Turkey numbers in certain areas have increased, but overall have decreased. Just ask across the state. The majority don’t see the beautiful birds they used too. The areas that have increased obviously have the better habitat for turkey or better farming practice IMO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. good luck with the ez out.. they are trash and rarely work lol. Typically tap drill size and drill out broken screws.//bolts
  20. between bare dirt and oats that will have birds in it for sure
  21. Id imagine there are several on craigslist or online websites.
  22. Ive seen with my own two eyes, one tom breed a hen.. a short while later chase a group of jakes off and the second tm of the group then mounted the hen. IT defintly happens. A hen doesnt care who breeds her. She just needs that seed. She also stores those male seeds internally for several weeks. Jakes and Toms will breed hens, The only downfall of jake breeding a hen, Is that he may not be equipped enough to get the job done successfully. But that wont stop them from attempting.
  23. Yea or replace the barrel if you wanna cheap out on it. But new guns are fun. There’s some darn good pattern shooting shotguns on the market. Even the cheap guns throw amazing patterns Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Yep my 835 and 535 shoot Winchester xr #4 awesome even thru the factory choke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
