The mice got to my Honda Foreman as well 3 years ago during winter, when i stored it at camp. They made a nest by the battery also and chewed most of the way through the positive cable and the starter wires. Some electrical tape, a few minutes and a few choice words.. it was running again. As for a deterrent i have yet to find anything good. Around the house I use un cooked white rice. Theyll eat it, then need water after. The water makes the rice basically blow up in their stomachs and kills them. pretty safe way to do so and works great. I just hope and pray each year. Im hoping this year isnt the same since my foreman was stored at camp again... fingers crossed

I don tthink the new polaris batteries were very good to begin with. My grandfather just picked up a 1 year old Ranger last year. And his battery is shot already. Even after re charge. it wont stay juiced up. Dont cheap out when you replace it, i did twice now and only got a year or 2 out each of them. Ive never used a trickle charge on my atvs and they seem to fire fine..

Just walking up and down main street there are some neat shops. There is a Runnings. If it were later in the season, there are Bar/resturaunts on the water. The Pier, you can fish or just sit back and relax .. lot of shopping opportunities lol I Drive through everyday.

We pick them every year in April as well. Same couple places every year. They arent super thick, but maybe they would be if we didnt pick them same places. By we i mean, usually 5 or 6 of us going to town on them. Lol they are good raw, or on anything! Man i love leaks..

Was hoping for some good pics here.. Wanted the rest of the property over the ridge in the background, along with some strutters up front. Well I am satisfied with this! lol

Not so "live" anymore, lol but firgured its the best place to put it.. My step son went with his dad. It was a first ever turkey hunt for both of them.. Saturday he missed a nice tom, but yesterday he got back at them and took his first.. a Jake! He was beyond pumped. Glad he made it out!

The bottom one is a video. you can hear them fat boys spitting and drumming. I just took a still shot of it. Jay, I heard people seeing birds breeding for several weeks now. I used to think it was based off ground temp, (hens would check and no the ground temp was warming up enough to breed and lay eggs, Sounded good i thought lol). The last few years ive seen them breed on a ft of snow in end of March, plus hearing from others seeing it also.. Maybe they breed the same time of year regardless.. But One thing i do know is the reason for the May1st opener ... to let the toms take those hens to pound town before getting thumped.. So it must be the same each year roughly.. Any turkey sex experts out there? lol

Love getting Strutting pictures.. Hoping to get some gobbling shots. Also trying to find out where they are roosting now, and what their morning travel patterns are... They clear cut a wood lot and a side hill where they used to roost and spend a lot of time.. But I have 2 new "logging roads", I can probably use to my advantage this spring.. Connects 2 new clover food plots, and several other fields

Plant clovers now if you want. Id kill everything first when it turns green and on a warm day first, then just spread your clover on top before rain. If your going to use a nurse crop, you may want to wait until nights aren't as cold, frost threat is gone and soil temps rise.. I did a heavy blend of clovers last year at end of May with no nurse crop and they did great. But i eliminated weed competition first. and we got plenty of rains

My youth(step son) bailed on me, pretty bummed. He wants to be with his dad doing what they do.. Dont blame him, but it is his weekend to shine! Oh well, Here is one of many pics from 2 card pulls yesterday..

Pygmy, you aint kidding. I can only imagine what it looks like at 20 and under. If i ever get the shot trap setup, i would gladly play around with it, even change chokes and such. But these are too pricey to mess around too much with. coonh, sure is! I think i could make it a little tighter if needed but im happy with it. Would maybe like to see it not so patchy in spots but, I think im ok.

Which would you choose?

Got a quick moment to shoot one of my Handloads yesterday.. This is from my Mossy Maverick 20ga w/ 22"bbl and .572 UnderTaker Choke . Still have yet to shoot the 870 w/ 26" bbl and .555 Indian Creek Shells used: Winchester Double X 1185fps 3" #5 shot @ 40 yrds (Top shot, for comparison) 72 Pellets in 10" center of Pattern Hand Load TSS 1200fps #8 shot @ 40 yrds (Bottom) 240 Pellets in 10" center of Pattern These TSS #8 (18.4g/cc) have the energy comparison of between a #2 and #4 in Lead, but less surface area.. Meaning more penetration. For those that wondered..

Amen Lawd.. There was a little more to it but you got the majority of it lol.

Same here. I finally got 2 cams out a little over a week ago. Typically they are up at march's end. Damn weather, and snow i couldn't get to my camp. I intended on setting up 5 cams but somehow i only had enough batteries for 2 lol. Bet my stepson found my "stash" of batteries lol. Going to try and check today or tomorrow to see whats on there. And hopefully get a couple more set up.

Your best bet is a clover blend, and a cereal grain(cereal Rye preferably). remove leaf litter. and spread right before rains, Ive done it several times in clearings I made within the woods. and right over the top of recently made logging roads. As long as the rain isnt super heavy where it washes the seed away. you should have good results. I use DeerAg and or GRO products. with the absolute best results ever in my years of planting. But you must keep leaf litter out after each fall to keep plot established..

what are peoples results planting chicory
LET EM GROW replied to land 1's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I Plant it/frost seed it every year within a clover blend.. the deer wipe it out as soon as it gets up and establishes. Id recommend planting it with a couple different clovers. Chicory will thrive in hot months of summer, where the clovers dry out some and wont be preferred.. -
My first trophy With a bow i worked hard to pay for at 15 yrs, Missed 2 pope and young bucks that fall, ended up harvesting this guy as a first.. Antlers plagued on the wall. The prior spring I took my first bird too! 9" Longbeard 1" spurs. Mounted on the wall. Great year for firsts... but we wont mention the others lol

Whatever you do, make sure they dont leave the hole, especially if you poison them lol. A guy near me put out a 50lb bag of dog food, soaked in straight engine coolant for them. Well, several of the pups made it to houses a 1/2mile away and died in a kid pool trying to get water and the rest weren't far away dead as well. It got reported and lead back to him.. he got hammered with "goodies" from the DEC.. think 10k in fines.. Id just put a cam on it, Sweet pics. I would think your presence at camp would make the mother hi tail out with her pups.. I could be wrong.. This cam was tight to a den on the property line.. thousands of pup pics that summer. Counted 9 pups in one picture

Nice, I like the creative thinking! I know exactly what you mean. I made a 90 degree v block, with a machine screw for the clamp, then clamped to the table, or held tight by hand. It works great for any round parts, and is adjustable per diameter, but used on a drill press but i could make a jog for a handheld like you have too, worse case.. Im really not a fan of the rpms it was turning. And work would fire me if I brought them in to load lol. Tricks i learn from work. Now that i think of it, i bought an old school small drill press that is at my moms, i should go scoop it up. I think im going to let these fly tomorrow if the rain holds off.

I heard that as well, but everyone keeps saying every gun shoots a little differently. The 555 IC was recommended by many, and so was the more open chokes from .570 to .580.. so we will see. Id like to think any of them will be better than shooting factory lead out of the barrel, regardless of what choke. I see un believable patterns with a more open choke like a factory full, then turn around and see the same gun shoot a choke .030 tighter and the results are the same + -. I got the hardest part done, now the fun begins, except each "boom" is going to be like 10$ ... lol until my shot trap is built

Thanks for the advice. I was wondering that as well, Im not a huge fan of changing up recipes since they are tried and true, with pressures and all. I Didnt want to change it up the first time around. I may try that for next time, thanks again.. The rolled real easy, But the drill press wouldnt slow down enough for my liking. And i didnt want to use a hand drill. I would imagine spinning at a more ideal rpm may have helped my results as well.

I have a 20 ga re loader but thought it would be best with these fussy loads to do it by hand, the roll crimp is simple. I just need to trim the hulls slightly before loading the wad into the hull for next time. Theres a little too much extra hull to roll over the overshot card, to make a perfect roll crimp anyways lol And this is with a filler pad under the overshot card too lol. but I wasnt unloading the wads from hulls to trim them. Next time though! LOL

Thanks Grampy TF . She is bound and determined to conquer. Im not stopping her, only helping lol. Just need this weather to break so we can get outside.. been a long winter. TF, i have an 870 w/26"bbl and an IC 555 and a Carlsons 575 to pattern, also a Moss Maverick, 22"bbl, and a 572 Undertaker for starters. Hoping to get some tight patterns with the 870, and more of a hunting pattern with the Mossberg.. Since The Mossy is quite lighter in weight between the 2.. But if both shoot better than store bought lead loads. Its a success in my book, I cant spend too much on chokes this year. Got a lot wrapped up in materials lol

Im also in the process of building a shot trap. Since the price of this shot is not cheap by any means. Hoping if I can catch at least 75% of the shot, after each pattern test. I can tumble it and re use it and be set for several years. We make gaskets and rubber sheets in couple departments at work, so i will dangle 3 or 4 1/8" sheets in front of a piece of tin, with a trough under neath. I think should be suffice. Trial and error at this point!
