Happy birthday fellers! -
I have (3) 35mm Stealth cams that functioned a few years back. Havent put them in the woods for at least 10 years now. Stumbled across some pictures i had from them from over a decade ago. I remember the excitement and anticipation waiting on the 1hr photo center to get them developed. then to have only half turn out right lol. I would have to say those cams are probably 15-17 years old. Would be neat to run them again, but what an inconvenience they are. I also still have one of the first, if not thee first Stealth cam Digital 1.3 MP cam. Has about a 10 second trigger speed on it, Runs on "C" batteries I believe. This cam still works. I actually threw it back in the field 3 years ago for chits and grins lol I didn't leave i tout for long since it runs through batteries in a matter of 2-3 weeks.

There is a mix that grows very well that I will be planting again this fall in a somewhat shady spot im turning into a soft mast orchard in the woods.. Its called "Inner Sanctum" by Grandpa Rays outdoors. It is: 40% Spring Triticale15% Balansa Fixation Clover10% Alsike Clover10% Frosty Berseem Clover10% Forage Kale10% Medium Red Clover 5% Ladino Clover Turn it into a perennial plot by frost seeding your favorite clovers into it in March next spring. Good quality seed, and works well for shady and less than ideal spots.

Totally agree with both!

I guess you have. I always wanted to visit Shreveport. Had a g-friend way back in the day whom moved there. Everyday does feel like Fathers day with the right surroundings no doubt! Perfect, I have yet to get the boat out on the water. Hoping to soon or summer is going to be over just like that.

How did all you fellers Fathers Day go? My youngest boy turns 1 today so we did his 1 year pics, and celebrated on Saturday at The Almond Rod and Gun Club. It was a wonderful day, with friends and family. I woke up Fathers Day morning put up an acre of electric fence around one of my soybean plots for late season action. Then enjoyed the rest of the day with friends and Family, BBQ, Yard games, jokes, lies etc... It was a great day. Then at the end of the day after Dinner time, and several beers later. My wife walks out to me with a brand new Ruger American Predator in 22-250 for my birthday/Fathers day gift. That was an even better ending to an already great day. I told her no guns until after we move in to our 1st house we just purchased. But she didn't listen lol. I must be doing somethign right lol. Hope everyone's day was fabulous as well!

When and where?
-
Id leave the gun in the cabinet and take the bow.
-
How big is the plot?
-
From one of my other cams, it seems the coyotes are following the adult does around looking for their fawns. I got many pictures of coyotes walking only seconds behind adult doe according to the time stamps. Neither of the 2 were running. Seemed just casually walking along..

Got quite a few fawn pics. My favorite from this card pull.

I noticed a big difference. Especially closer to bedding areas. Ive even just made partial screens to cut up bigger plots, some that came out into a plot half way or so. To make them go around and put them in bow range when they go around. OR plant right across and cut a hole out where they can slip through. I wont p=do plots without screens again lol. And highly recommend this seed/company. -
Thanks for the info. Its treated us well! Dont need to sell, Just looking to part with stuff we dont use. Bought a house, one less thing to transport lol.

I dont have any 2018 models. But have 9 of the 2017 and older models. All cams have been bullet proof so far. Many Many many pics taken. (knock on wood)

Selling our canoe. We used it once a year for the last 6 years to go on our annual Canoe Rigata. Not sure of the brand or length but it is in great shape. Im guessing it is around the 15ft mark, give or take. Comes with 1 set of paddles. Asking $250

Hoping my brother got to mowing our clover plots before this rain. Friday I put in our screens for a couple plots and property lines. I usually do no till everything, but with these i ran a disk over lightly. I really need the screens. So i very lightly scratched some of the soil, to put the seed down a tad farther. I wasnt sure when we were going to get the next rain, since we can hardly ever trust extended forecasts anymore. Then packed it in good with the atv tires. The sense of security for myself and the critters is much greater when vision is limited. The daytime movement is escalated. it just creates better everything. access is easier etc.. Sorry i did not take pics yet. Like to see what kind of better daytime movement it will promote in the new places i did the screens, since daytime movement has always been decent there until gun season. Screen seed used: Northwoods Whitetails Food plot screen IT is Egyptian Wheat and Hybrid sorghum. I used it last year and with no fertilizer used and a mid June planting date. It got to be about 8-10ft tall. -
Moog, I think it will work for you No problem. Rear tine would be the way to go, But it is going to be more work than you intend on doing I would think. They work great for smaller areas like gardens etc.. up to an acre, makes me sore just thinking about it. If you do go this route, remember you only need to scratch an inch or 2 of soil, after you killed all vegetation off. And you dont need a perfect seed bed. Not to derail your thought process, But if you are only looking to do brassicas, and or other fall blends. You can do all those small and grain type seeds without scratching any soil at all. Small seeds are very easy to germinate. You just have to rely more on rain is all. if you have a quad or lawn tractor, find a lawn roller for it. Ive also done them by just killing off vegetation and spreading seed before good rain. and walk away. Pics to prove it. For example, you can see no soil was tilled in this picture.. I even plant my soybeans without scratching soil.

Myself, I would not shoot one. Maybe if it was buck with a few years under his belt. But even then I would probably have to force myself to do so. Id love to see it hang around and grow old. Gain a little history, but thats just me. Have already let a giant doe walk on my property in Macedon a few years ago, several times. She looked like a cow coming through the woods. I just find some really cool majestic type of thing related with each piebald/white deer Ive seen. Id hate to pass it and see one of the d-bag neighbors smash it. But thats life. What I would love to see is a youth hunter, an old timer or lucky lady hunter take it. But personally I probably wouldn't, unless it was a "boy deer" lol, and met my standards for buck harvest. Doe, Id gladly take a different one to watch her in the future..

Of course, save the state money and let others do it. They also release pheasants every fall here and people line up the fields soon as season opens. 245 is a deer highway, I can only imagine it this summer/fall when they are really using it. excited to see some rut action on my early morning drives, but not the accidents. Last year they planted oats, and possibly wheat in 2 of the fields. Some timber management would do wonders as well. I agree. If they took better care of the state lands, I would consider deer hunting some of them again. I know of a few places that do good each year, only because there are some certain "producing trees" in the middle of nowhere. and i dont think anyone else knows it lol
