  1. Planted June of 2017. Spread seed over mostly bare soil, is all I did. It was a dug rd they made April 2017 to skid logs out. Had a bunch of good rains last spring and early summer. Took off good. before it got dry last summer. Still grew slow as clovers do first year, but it was 5 or 6 inches high by fall, including heavy browse pressure.. First pic was a few days after seeding soybeans and clover blend June 9th, you can see small white clover seeds as well as bean seeds. 2nd pic was taken September 1st.
  2. Found it Matt, thought I deleted them all, guess I saved one. Must be a young bird, cause the cam is maybe knee high at the most.
  3. I got this used off a friend of a friend for $275, otheriwse i would have done the same! lol I dont remember who he is set up with or how, but they get discounts for doing reviews with his youtube channel on several brand of scopes and their long range shooting. His youtube channel is Chuckintv.. If i remember correctly. Out of Jasper, NY. Last i heard he was doing some for sightron scopes. So i am told anyways lol
  4. I dont know if I completely agree. a 3yr old NY buck most likely got to that age by dumb luck. The deer being in the right place at the right time. Each deer is slightly different. Unless you have the ideal whitetail habitat that holds and grows deer all on one property or 2. Its mostly luck, especially during the rut. I mean some skill is involved to a point. But to harvest a mature buck in early season, or consecutively every year or so.. most times some homework is needed. You are really just picking what stand would work best for that time of year, during certain weather conditions etc.. and hoping for the best... kind of like luck.. After watching these midwest deer on tv, it makes you wonder whats it take.. But if you have a little bit of what a deer needs to survive on your property(cover, food, water).. Leave your land alone for some time during season, especially during gun season and only hunt when conditions are near perfect. Youll be surprised what you see when you finally get out and pursue unpressured deer.. Which is probably what the majority of the widwest deer on tv are... unpressured..
  5. This is the Viper 6-20x44 came with sunshade yes. Has the dead hold reticle, which really like for coyote hunting. The eye relief, glass and 30 mm tube combo is just awesome. Love these vortex scopes. How do you like the diamondback?
  6. great pics fletch. I have been getting quite a few fawns pics too. Bunch of lone hens or groups of hens. No poults yet. Would love to get some as young as you have here. that is great.
  7. Just got a few pics of 2 bears strolling through together as well. lol
  8. Put some optics on the 22-250 I received for Fathers/Birthday this past week. Just have to hit the range, find a good bullet, and get zeroed at 200. Ill have to see how it feels when shouldered and on target, Might have to get Low rings for the scope. I like to be have my cheek down and tight to the stock and top of the gun. But we'll see. What is everyone's favorite "somewhat" pelt friendly bullet? In case I come across a critter that is worth tanning or mounting. Was hoping to stick around 50-55 gr mark. Ill shoot factory ammo for the first year, and hope to get reloading for 2019. Cant wait for October 1st to get back out and call..
  9. It sure is a perfect bow setup. In the last picture I have a stand about 5 yards to the left. It butts up to one of the very heavily logged hillsides so picking trees for bow stands is tough due to losing a lot of surrounding cover. This spot works, but id like to get down in the plot further. I only hunt it occasionally. Deer are always around here so getting in and out is not easy. Actually near impossible. I try to leave this stand for bucks harvests only.. when the timing is right. Id rather not hunt it, and keep pressure off instead.
  10. Im not picky as long as it functions properly
  11. Mowed our DeerAg clover Staging plot 2 weekends ago. Took these pics Friday. It is coming back great. Three pics are from going down to where they enter the plot, last pic is looking out towards the bigger soybean/fall plot i plant. The deer will enter this staging plot at all times of the day. There is a doe bedding area near by. The will also hit this staging plot an hour or 2 before dark, stay here and chow then work there way out to the bigger plot as daylight draws to an end.... nearly every day during Late summer and early Fall I need to take thes tring trimmer down and cut it back a little wider where the zero turn could not reach. At the back of the plot(pic 3) you can see some dead standing veg. I terminated, seeded, and hooked it the to the left another 60ft or so for more "comfort and space"
  12. I was always under that impression as well. But I get a ton of coyote pictures/sightings. As well as red and greys. Each every year. lately. A few years back it seemed to go in waves though, High yote pop, less fox pop. and vice versa. Not lately though.
  13. This is the same exact spot I got hundreds and hundreds of yote pup pics a few summers back.. Literally within a few feet of where this camera is, just before the heavy timber harvest. There were 9 pups in that litter.
  14. Thanks, Its crazy all the wildlife here at this setup. Might have stand setup here for fall. Lot of action here and a very nice view as well.
  15. Lot of bear tracks around too. Neighbors seen a few the last couple weeks as well.
  16. This corner used to be good for predators. Ever since the clear cut this ridge. It is smoking hot with predator action. The same bobcat is back every day or two. Get pictures of fisher here throughout the year. And daily there are coyotes, reds and grey fox. As well as too many coon that I care for. Just got back into predator hunting last winter. Would like to get my trapper license this summer. especially for the coon. and eventually get the coyotes too.
  17. Lots of options. Can pick up a good used commercial zero turn. Or husky makes some big lawn tractors with 3pt hitches etc. Or used garden tractor with belly mower/finish rear mower and equipment .. lol
  18. Probably the wrong thread for this post, but this thread is going strong so here goes lol... My "no till" soybeans. No "Plowing started" here lol. Just an update, Broadcast and rolled in on June 1st. Got 2 slammers of rain storms that night.. End result. Beans are up and doing well. "(picture was before fence went up). Fence went up this week. with a trail camera to observe. Trail cam picture is from another soybean plot where I lightly disked up the soil, broadcast seed and dragged in (kind of conventional) same day as the no till beans. Well you can see the difference plain as day. very little beans present from erosion due to heavy heavy down pours. The Protected "No Till" beans even on a slight downhill slope still present and growing..
  19. I might be able to make it. I close on my house that weekend though. Unless it gets pushed ahead, which i have a good feeling it will. Or pushed back. Its a possibility.
