I agree with this, when it comes to fully matured bucks.. In my area anyways where we manage anyways.. Bucks like the 5.5yr+.. They breed the local does in and around their core area and not any further.

If Bigfoot was real would you shoot/ hunt it ?
LET EM GROW replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat

How much Land do you own ?
LET EM GROW replied to JR60's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I own 12 acres, and over the years have made it a place whitetail and other critters want to be. It is not perfect, but it is not bad.. Myself and many neighbors follow QDM practices for years now.. Results are amazing. I do not own enough for a sanctuary so i hunt only in the perfect conditions. If you are buying, I would make sure you can incorporate at least 1 sanctuary on your property, along with food and water.. keep the pressure off... deer have will not have much reason to want to leave.. Sanctuaries are KEY.. followed by food and water -
We are having a tough time lately with our 12 yr old. He would be my step son, He thinks hes invisible and above house rules lately. Grounding him worked the first couple times. But hes a smart little shit... no dummy by far, and he figures out how to get around things and hide the stuff he does. I looked at him and told him.. i was a 12 year old boy once too, whatever your doing i know all about it, and if you don't think i do, I will. lol. I just told him, if you tell us the truth we will not be half ass mad if we we were to find out your lying.. We just take everything from him, during the week and he is to not do a damn thing unitl he proves himself whether it be homework or his behavior around the house... whether or not his dad does also on the weekends im not sure.. Its not easy... I have a needy 8 month old son, and a smart and wild 3 yr old daughter as well.... my hair is falling out and what is left is turning grey fast.. Pretty poor looking 31 yr old lol

Who has winter trail cams out?
LET EM GROW replied to genesee_mohican's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Just got to thinking, I may still have a Browning out .. I'm sure its dead running on Alkaline since November. Whenever this snow melts ill have to go make sure my thought processor is working correctly lol. Damn snow, Now their calling for another 1 or 2 storms in the next couple weeks.. -
outdoor limited no longer ships to NY Targetsportsusa.com will still

They sure sucker, Im most certain. But deer will eat the suckers. Win win temporarily.. As for no till, you can do it all with a hand/backpack sprayer. and however you spread small seed/grains. And all time before a good rain..
-
Yes sir, in this case i would make it an easier to establish plots like clover, grains or brassicas or something with little maintenance, and to add organic matter. I do all no till, and this seems like a good candidate for that. I should have also said with mine, it is clovers, with the addition of planted White oak, apple and pear trees to turn into a small orchard in a few years down the road.

Just plant around them for now, until you can get in and take care of them. Your food plot plus these new "mineral stumps" depending on tree species will aid in nutrition for the deer with the new sprouts that may grow off them. If you get an adequate trail made, Hire them out or find a buddy with a stump grinder. Or rent equipment to rid them when ready.. I planted around mine, deer still eat there.. I don't plan on driving through it so it doesn't bother me.

Would you plant this crab apple?
LET EM GROW replied to Blue Hill's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Also, if you can try and "release" that tree. eliminate the competition around it and give it some sunlight. It will probably do even better than it is now.. -
Would you plant this crab apple?
LET EM GROW replied to Blue Hill's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
If the deer hammer them hell yea, Plant it. I recently found while researching, a method called "air layering" .. it uses existing branches from that tree to start new tree for planting purposes .. pretty neat. and saves money since you know that tree is a producer. if it were me id keep your trees in groups and not mixed, for hunting purposes only. That way you can hunt whichever they are preferring at the time more selectively. Like small orchards, even if they butt up to eachother... thats just me though -
I stopped into my camp while predator hunting a few weeks ago. I feel the deer have "adequate" winter foods in my area with all the recent logging, clear cuts, food plots, and hay fields that were never 2nd cut and the cut ones.. On my stroll I found a lot of browse on White pine, and spruce trees. as well as their downed branches. I piled up some white pine i cut back in September, they ate nearly all the small branches off When i can fnid some time i plan on going in and tipping over a bunch of poplar and hinging some maple to open up the canopy and rejuvenate the forest floor some. As well as releasing some apple trees and blue berry, and elderberry bushes.

what is acceptable accuracy with your bow?
LET EM GROW replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Bow Hunting
I beat myself up over my groupings, they never seem to be "good enough".. But they are plenty good enough for deer hunting situations. If my arrows aren't touching or very close to, out to 40 yards I get pretty upset with myself, and refuse to put the bow down until my are met lol But thats just me, probably from the days of League when i shot very good. -
If i could swing several reconyx i would. Im sure once i buy one id have to have more. That is how its been with my brownings now for 4 years. Ill stick with Browning until they fail me, i have 5 and they have taken thousands upon thousands of pics each, and run dang near 3/4 of the year.

Depends on caliber, and the reticle on that scope combo.. My 243 i have zeroed at 200yrds, slinging a 58gr Winchester. It shoots so flat it only drops 4" @ 300. This would equal out to be around .8" high @ 100yrds. Nasty little predator combo. A bdc scope id probably zero @ 100, unless i intend to take shots beyond 300..

Got out for my first set in 5 or more years Saturday. Had my buddy with me who has been calling, trapping and just killing them for many years now. Called in a young male right before dark.. the rest of the night was slow, heard a few dogs barking and howling from where we killed him a little while after.. that is it with the 4 next sets. Maybe this weekend if I can get out. Was hoping to see a set of predator eyes in a red light though. Maybe next time.. this stuff is addicting to say the least! My other buddy/neighbor hunts them hard too, he went out the same night just a few hills over from us.. He put a hurting on them as he usually does lol
-
I do not have advise, but am following because I have been contemplating one for my Night time coyote setup next year, as ill have to buy my own and give my step son back his 243, man that thing shoots 55gr v-max well! lol I know basically nothing about an AR.. Never ever been an interest to me until now..

Backpack with kickstand
LET EM GROW replied to LET EM GROW's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Tree guy, I was thinking of sewing some straps on to my Ol Tom turkey vest to achieve what that seat cushion does, with buttons so i can use and un use it. OR as TF stated just get a small chair.. The only thing about the chair just might be a pain trying to re setup on a yote that is coming in from the unattended direction.. I see there is one made by ALPS that is the same price as the cabelas one, and the reviews are much better on the ALPS over the Cabelas one.. price is in my "Broke budget" lol -
I have wayyy too many lol ... -People speeding through school zones!!! There needs to be an officer in every school zone of every school Monday through Friday when kids are present! I hate it, Tailgating as well.. -I drive a long ways for work everyday, what really bothers me also is people with heads down, buried on their phones, driving or waiting at a traffic light.. I absolutely rage when i see these things.. and with what happened to my dad, i have every right to.. -I get really irritated by people who dont take pride in their work also. Ambition and determination these days seems so rare, its bothersome. I'm a Tool & Die Maker I strive for perfection in everything I do, career based and at home as well.. -Communication goes along ways too!! lol That's a few for now...
