  1. We don't want to fight with them, all they have to do is admit we're right.
  2. Look on www.gunbroker.com. While an auction site not a valuation site it might give you an idea of what comparable ones are selling for.
  3. Here are a couple of and from the firetower on Woodhull Mountain in McKeever. Our group is in the Adopt A Natural Resource program and we maintain the trail to the firetower. We were up there Friday 8/5/11 cleaning the trail out. Had quite a few good size trees down in it, but it is trimmed up nice now.
  4. I was just thinking that myself. As long as you keep you cross-spoon out of archery season! Or would it be spoon-gun? Or maybe spoon-bow?
  5. Congratulations. I figured I wouldn't ba able to go this year so i just bought my bonus point. I think I'm up to 6 now.
  6. I know, but you can use a bow during gun season. I don't see me doing it, but maybe he really likes his bow. He may have been cheating, I'm just saying it is possible that he wasn't.
  7. I use my '06 aplenty, but it wouldn't surprise me to hear that the .300 Savage has killed more deer around NY than any other round.
  8. Doesn't say where he killed either buck so they could both be legal. The first one was 10/18 so it was during early bow (NT and ST) and the big one was 11/4 so NT gun was open. It is possible that he killed the first one during bow and tagged it with his either-sex tag, and killed the second one with his bow during NT gun, which is legal. OR... not so much.
  9. For now i wouldn't try a crossbow just because I can't afford to spend the $$$. In the future I would like to try it just for something different. I've gotten bucks with rifle, shotgun and recurve and I'd like to get a couple with my muzzleloader and revolver just to say I did it, so why not a crossbow. If they legalized large-caliber airguns for deer hunting i'd give them a whirl too! ;D
  10. I got one, and then about a month later I got another one. Called the DEC and the girl said to throw one away. I don't think so. I put it away with my important papers so if I lose the one I don't have to pay $5 for another!
  11. Barnes has load data right on their website. That's where I got the recipe for my .450 Marlin with the 250gr TSX FP. ;D http://www.barnesbullets.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/280RemingtonWeb.pdf
  12. I tried those Remington copper sabot jobs a long time ago and they patterned like buckshot out of my Mossberg. I always had good luck with the Lightfield sabots, but I haven't shot my slug gun since they opened Oneida County to rifle. ;D
  13. Life/Endowment. Have been a Life member since I was 4 months old. I also belong to the JPFO (even though I'm not Jewish).
  14. http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/6099.html Almost at the bottom of the page. "Privileges Lifetime license privileges are equal to those of annual license buyers." So it doesn't say "When you buy your Lifetime License you will get X number of tags", it says "When you buy your Lifetime License you will get whatever number of tags we decide to give out in any particular year".
  15. Looks like he'll be a nice one. Is that temp correct?
  16. I've killed two bucks with a .450 Marlin and I was surprised how little damage there was. They had nice, neat .458" diameter holes right through them. If you wanted to you could eat right up to the hole on the one I shot in the neck! I think the big ol' heavy bullet is just moving slow enough that if it doesn't encounter a major bone it just shoves through without causing a bunch of bruised/bloodshot meat.
  17. I participated in a trapper survey about five years ago and since then I get a variety of them every year. Last year I got the trapping one a bowhunting one and a moose one.
  18. It does seem odd that if they were going to implement a youth hunt it would be in the middle of bow season and not the last three days before gun opens. What I personally would like to see is a week closed between the end of ST gun and the late muzzleloader season. I don't really hunt ST gun but I always hunt late ML and it seems that I never see much activity the first four days or so after gun ends. Moving the start of ML back even a few days would give them a chance to settle down a little. One thing that has never made sense to me is the cost for an annual Bow, ML and trapping license is the same, but the Lifetime trapping is almost twice the cost of the Lifetime bow and ML. Seems to me if having them the same cost yearly is good enough, then it should be good enough to have them the same in the Lifetime.
  19. How about scenario 9 where: 1957 school teacher has young, impressionable students and does NOT sleep with them. 2005-2011 school teacher repeatedly sleeps with students while being paid with tax dollars like this two hundred-something. http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=39783 And that's just the women! In our local school a couple years ago we had a teacher giving booze to one of his students who he was also messing around with. Then one of his teacher buddies went to the girl to try and get her to lie to the cops. The first idiot lost his teaching license but was allowed to resign (should've been fired) and the second idiot was supposed to lose his teaching license back at the end of '09 but according to seethroughny.net he was still paid $43-grand in 2010. And this is what my $7000 in school taxes goes to pay for?!
  20. From Chicago Tribune writers of all places. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/videobeta/8a2253ac-e257-4bb8-8334-143e5804a7c5/Sports/Two-novices-go-deer-hunting-GRAPHIC-CONTENT-
  21. I'm not actually sure. Last season I was in Philipson's and I saw an electronic bleat can and I thought "Someone's going to get in trouble with that" so I looked it up intending to show someone it was illegal when I stumbled across that.
