I am a member in a camp which participates. The break in taxes for our piece is substantial. Additionally, it keeps the powers that be motivated to manage the timber over a period of time rather than the...cut once every 20 years method. As a person who hunts the land, i believe it has helped with holding deer and other wildlife on the property as most sound habitat management does. We are fortunate to have timber managers/loggers in the camp so they already have a grasp on that side. Knowing people who will do the work the right way is key because being in the program then serves a two fold purpose. I would look at it as a long term investment if you/your family plan to keep the property. There are several stipulations though. One being that if you sell or want to get out, I believe the 10 year "contract" stands.

I put one over a 5' wide creek - I used 3 8' PT 4X4's, running the two outside 4x4's in line where the atv tires would travel across. I then used deck board. While it works, I would have preferred 2x10's as Moog explained. It is just what I had on hand. Guardrails are also must in my opinion. I also did not have to worry about flooding during the construction.

Cool thread right here, At camp, we have areas or pockets of woods that stands are in and will also name stands based upon who sits there often or who built them: Cherry Knoll Braddosh Lot Click Log Flat Iron Beech Ridge Jim's, John's, etc. At home, I've only named a few: Oak Flat White Pine stand Back Corner Ladder Kid's Ground Blind Suicide Stand (I need to rename this bc I know it's a serious thing - the stand is just a B to get in and is way up there - I'm open to suggestions)

Does anyone have any advice for a youth harness and entry level compound for a very petite 10yo girl? One of my daughters has really taken an interest the last couple years and I think its time to have her start climbing and shooting. I have researched bows and have been told good things about the Mission Craze and Matthews Genesis Mini, but not sure i can swing it financially.

As long as the price is fair and i could afford it, i would pitch in. Especially if it is your only private access. Private land is increasingly difficult to come by and it sounds like you have a pretty ideal situation. Keeping the peace and permission for a few hundred dollars seems reasonable even if you don't feel the plots will benefit you.

Route 66 Smokehouse does in Wynantskill. Not that close but its good...and expensive.

My bolt set up for the 370 has been Carbon Express Pile Drivers (factory nocks) with G5's. If possible, I would upgrade from the bolts that came with the 370. My best addition to the 370 was the Nikon scope though.

I have a 370 as well - I use piledrivers too (maybe because of you haha) and my issues were with the BH, not the bolt. I bought two piledriver 6 packs and confirmed my original BH choice was not going to work due to inconsistencies. Just my experience.

There was a guy on Beach Rd. in CP that did them. I have never taken a deer there but i have friends who say he does a good job. I have taken deer to Jimmy Maki as Greene Hunter stated, but he's in Southern Albany County. He is a good guy and does a good job. The only thing i don't like is that he doesn't wrap the meat so you can just put it in the freezer. It comes as if you are buying from a market. Therefore it will freezer burn unless you rewrap.

I grow Hungarians which many I know refer to as Half-Hots. I like them for the little kick that bananas don't offer me.

Centerpoint Sniper 370 as has been touted a couple times. I also swapped glass for the Nikon Bolt and this upgrade was well worth the $150.

Beach Bucks are sweet! I've seen a few nice ones down in the OBX over the years.

I use the .22 for challenge/practice. They are all over in my neck of the woods as well. But they always are due to the black walnut.

Agree that these guys are great. I was just turned on to them a couple months ago. My favorite part about these guys is that they always have a smile on their face and are doing what they love. Too many folks who have made it big turn into robots and advert specialists which is too bad.

Took a walk with the kids on Sunday. Found a good cluster of rubs and scrapes in the Oak flat we scouted. (4B) Checking cams this week after soaking for almost a month, will report back then!

I posted this elsewhere, but i saw two bucks sparring in 4j last Thursday 10/3. Definitely have seen a few nicer bucks in 4b/4j during the cold snap we had.

My hunting camp more or less butts up to Stony Lake. Not very deery but beautiful nonetheless!

There was a younger fella by the name of Lowell on Rte 20 in Princetown/Duanseburg that processed a deer for me a couple years ago. Did a good job, i just asked for basic cuts and ground. I got his number from here i think. (518)231-3301.
