  1. No phone or watch..... Not sure how I forgot that stuff, but I did. No deer but the chipmunks made it interesting. Congrats to those who got a kill! For the rest of us, we have a long season ahead. I'm not stressing over a bad opening day. Rain tomorrow, so my next day will be Wednesday.
  2. Very sorry for your loss Zem. My sincere condolences. Thoughts and prayers to you and you family.
  3. I am always aligned to the side with my bow or a gun. I am right handed so I always set up to have the best vantage point and angle. Good tip you brought up Biz on that one.
  4. The good news is, all that cheese should keep you in the stand longer then most before having to break out the TP. The bad news is, brother, I hope you have the wind dead in your face in the morning with no swirling, and hoping you won't be sharing a blind with anyone! Even my tummy is making noises just looking that feast. Looks like a great meal you put together none the less.
  5. It looks that blind is sagging a bit in spots. It could just be my eyes. I would not shoot a broadhead through those screens if you haven't tried it during the process of shooting at targets to get ready. It's not like shooting through a sheet of paper to paper tune. It's cloth, and I have always felt that it would screw up the natural flight of the arrow and slow it down. First the BH hits, possibly hindering the rotation, then the vanes/feathers hit possibly causing even more error in the arrow flight. I took the screens out of my blinds for just this reason. I would have to think a mech BH would be even worse. But, this is just my opinion, so perhaps others will chime in on this subject matter. As for the seat, I have a couple chairs like this one, same company, different camo pattern: https://www.ganderoutdoors.com/product/details?pdesc=Ameristep-High-Back-Ground-Blind-Chair&i=221527&CAWELAID=120030640000017133&s_kwcid=adwords__&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInrCzqfjj3QIVwVcNCh2f0QxBEAQYAyABEgJJDPD_BwE They work well for me in the blinds and even sitting behind my natural brush blinds. I am not that tall so these work great for me. I tried using my camping chairs in the blinds, but for bow, the arms were always in the way.
  6. Good luck everyone! Be safe! Use those harnesses. Shoot straight, aim small miss small! Most of all, just enjoy the time in the woods hunting!
  7. 50 Shades Of Grey. Haven't read it, but I have heard it will pit a tingle in your....................
  8. Smoked turkey breast and smoked taters. Juiciest turkey I ever made, and the skin was crispy without using the oven or grill. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  9. It works. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  10. Ouch! Hope that heals up quick. Better wear a hair net, you don't want to get CWD. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  11. Rain tomorrow night here. NNW wind 5-10mph. Have to change up where I wanted to be in the AM, not a big deal really. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

  13. Looks like you and your son have first blood of the season. At least on this forum. Congrats to you both!
  14. Because next year I will be in the ADK's in unfamiliar territory, so I will have to have a good compass if I get turned around in the big woods. I am pretty familiar with the areas I hunt now, and most have roads that intersect the land, so as long as I keep my wits about me, I won't be lost. If I do get lost in less then 3000 acres with roads running through, I will magically have a truck appear, use the hood for shelter, burn a tire as an emergency signal, and a film crew will show up and tell me they filmed an episode Dual Survival with just one survivor without my knowledge.
  15. Today while washing clothes and treating them, I also decided to make sure all flashlights and my headlamp had fresh batteries and were working. Among things I decided to check were my compasses. WOW! I have a pretty old plastic lensatic style compass, and another I bought a few years back when I got back into hunting which is a Cammenga . Well, the old crappy was was so far off from north is was almost funny. It had north way off, and pointed way SW. The Cammenga pointed a pretty hard NE. Now, I do understand that most ( I think all ) compasses do not point true north, they point magnetic north. But- both of my compasses were way off. I can understand the cheapy one that's probably 20+ years old being off, but the other one not so much. I thought Cammengo are the company building the military's compasses? Looks Like I will be in the market for a new compass before 10/20/19. Any suggestions?
  16. As I said, carry on. I DGAF what you post! I made no authority about anything, that is all you being argumentative. I just hate when people ruin a perfectly good thread about hunting or NYS opening up new lands for those of us who primarily hunt public land by bringing a political aspect to the plate when there really was no need to do so. I honestly don't give a rats ass about how you feel or what you post. I made a comment, you didn't like it, and YOU had a fu&^%$ meltdown, not me. Best of luck this season, I hope you kill a nice buck.
  17. Have you joined the rest of the bat shit crazy folks on here? By "smeer" I meant the left going to extremes to not allow Kavanaugh into the seat. I was in no way giving you grief.
  18. My butt is fine. But if you want to go into that, well, I like hot foods. So, I always have issues back there. Still don't get what your issue is with new public land. You have made no statement or comment about it, you just got pissed off because of a question I asked. What didn't I rebuttal? I spoke what I had to say, you just seem to want argue. So to clear this up, and leave politics out of it, what is your problem with this state creating new public land?
  19. I get that. I hunted from a camp before I was old enough to hunt deer. I was the "new blood" and I was a pusher on drives wasn't allowed to carry my shotgun most times. I can't remember, but I think doe permits were still on party basis back then ( 1985 ). I have also hunted from a tent for hunting trips later on in life. It's not really a camp, but it sure was hunting from a camping situation. Again, I get it, I do get that that the new date caused a few mom and pop places to either loose a lot of business, or just have to fold ( as mentioned in other threads like this ). I would not care if they went back to the old season date starts. Like I said, I am not arguing. Just asking questions.
  20. I never got to hear any of Fords lies. I had a few things to get done in the woods this morning ( I hated being in the woods this close to the season opener ). I also only caught part of Kavanaugh's 'testimony'. Yard work and so on. But what I saw of Kavanaugh did seem like he was telling the truth, and distraught about the impact this had on him and his families lives. He answered questions firmly and point plank, or at least as much as any politician will. But as he stated himself, this will never go away no matter what for him and his family. I'm not sure where this whole smeer will end up, but the Republicans sure seem to have Kavs back.
  21. Have at it. I am going to enjoy your political commentary. Just remember, just because YOU have an opinion, doesn't make you right. Carry on. and I do mean, CARRY ON! OH, and I have no idea what anyones post count would matter, who cares. Bill? Is that you?
  22. I'll be out Monday for at least a morning hunt.
  23. If you feel the need to make a thread about opening up new public land to people political, and that's your stand, so be it. Carry on. I personally think this is a great opportunity for more people who don't own land to have hunting access. There's a good amount of public land in my area, but more isn't a bad thing. Would rather that land be a WMA then a new housing development. Just my opinion.
  24. I understand the reasoning for not liking the Saturday gun opener VS the Monday opener. If you have a camp that was the weekend to visit neighbors, get a little crazy with the booze, and catch up. I don;t understand how it cost the whole week. I am not trying to start a ruckus, I honestly don't see how changing the SZ opener by two days can cost a week. If you prefer to be in the woods with a bow that week you certainly still can. Again, I am not being a smart ass.
  25. How did you loose the third week in November? If I may ask. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
