I agree with grampy , crossbow should be added for entire season instead of early firearm. Unfortunately I don’t see these sort of changes going away. Especially if NY passes the no lead use on state lands bill, it will be another nail in the coffin to the decrease of hunter participation.

No plate on it either so they would get him for not registering it. Good luck with him .

Yep I do love putting my woodsman ship skills to the test seeing if I can figure the deer out . I will say though it wouldn't hurt my feelings none if this turns into a yearly thing and we can keep it for a bit. It’s getting a bit old loosing lease after lease.

Found a local Craigslist add for a lease, 40 acres of solid woods and 19 field . Split in two parcels, creak on one , small pond on other ( we can camp and fish also ) . Looked at the land on my hunt stand app and as of now looks promising. Kinda excited to put some boots on the ground and give it a good look over.

I’ve been doing some searching and I’m finding a bunch of different recommendations. The one that jumped out at me were the guys using windex, saying it worked very well. Thanks all.

My Bemans are gone....
rob-c replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Easton made Beman’s . Easton’s 6.5 is their newest hunting arrow. I’m down to 10 Beman hunter pro’s myself, so when they are gone I’ll be shooting Easton’s. -
My First Deer Rifle: Remington 760
rob-c replied to Splitear's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Very nice , the story is the cherry on top of a nice fire arm. My dad gave me my granddads 300 savage 99 , and every time I carry it I think of them both. I’ll never forget when my dad gave it to me , he say’s if that rifle could talk the amount of deer it’s killed legal and illegal . -
I hope I see a photo this season with your hands wrapped around that first one. Any would be a great kill ,but I love the kickers on that guy.

Fingers crossed for ya ...

Nice , sure would be fun. What pistol are you using ?

Try and shoot as many bows as you can. Absolutely nothing wrong with a Bear bow but you may shoot it and then say shoot a PSE and be blown away on how it feels. Second don’t get caught up in I have to shoot a 70 pound bow, many guys are finding with today’s bows 50-60 pound bows are more than enough to harvest whitetails with. As for arrows, broadheads etc. plenty of good choices out there one really can’t go wrong with any. The biggest thing to pay attention to is a properly spined arrow for your set up. Keep us posted, and once you get bit by the archery bug its a fun sport/ hobby.

I also switched to a leathermen and it has been very handy to have more than just a blade .

So I was installing some handlebar riser’s on my quad and found a hummingbird nest under my headlight and dash readout . We bought our quads used and have always stored them inside, so it must be from the previous owner. There were three egg ‘s in it and I stuck my finger in and touched 2 and they disintegrated . The second photo you can see the 1 tiny egg left .

What rest are you using ? It’s not just out of time is it ?

Hit the range this morning with the 10mm & 44mag
rob-c replied to rob-c's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Well I’ve always wanted a 1911 and decided I wanted one in 10 mm. I wasn’t about to spend $2000 on one that I’m going to abuse in the woods etc. So being a Ruger guy I was looking hard at a SR1911 , but they were having some problems with the toggle lugs cracking with full power 10 loads . So I found Rock island armory, tons of great reviews on line and just a good all around pistol for the price. I’m shooting loads now at 40 cal ballistics to break it in ( RIA recommends 500 rounds to break it in ) then I’ll be loading to 10 mm levels. The only thing I dislike about the gun is it chucks the cases into the next county,I reload with star line brass and i hate not finding all my cases( I see a DIY brass catcher in my near future ) . I’ve only had a few failure to feed and even then it’s just a manual push of the slide and the round chambers , zero stove pipes,I like the front fiber & white dot rear sights , the weight is enough to help with recoil but not overly heavy. I’ve probably got about 200 rounds down the barrel and I like it, but take it with a grain of salt as this is my first semi and I really have nothing to compare it too.I would someday like to do a pig hunt with it that would be fun . -

They are Hogue Pau ferro grips , I have large hand’s and these have a palm swell that fill my hand more than the factory rubbers did. I’m going through the same with my 10mm now . I added Hogue palm swell side plates to it yesterday afternoon it and it feels better, but we’ll see tomorrow night when I shoot the league. Im thinking I’m going to have to install some shims under them to fatten them up even more . -

How about a picture ? I’ve taken deer with mine out to 80 yards with a red dot. I’ll be heading back to get it sighted in at 100.
