  1. I know that spot!! My BIL and I were in a tourney years ago, and he got a 6lb+ LM from there in 20+ ft of water!! When the boat traffic picks up on that lake, the bigger fish go deep. Great picture!!! Nice king!!!
  2. Would sell so much faster on here if it had a camo wrap!!
  3. Way to go Steve! I think you are local to me. If ya need anything, or help getting started pm me. Say hello to Bill for me too.
  4. Got the OK from the doc, so I'll finally be "live from the water" on Thursday morning!!! Going up to Saratoga Lake, with my old lake property neighbor, who let's me hunt his 75 acres in exchange for a fishing trip. We always have a lot of laughs. Going after some of those Toga LM!!!
  5. My grandson came over to shoot after we went and picked up his new arrows. For the first time he beat me on our target scores. I always try and shoot my best, no giveaway's. He's been close before, but now the student has beaten his teacher. So proud of him!!
  6. Won't find a better deal than this on a good bow! And Bill is an awesome guy to deal with!
  7. This is the perfect way to buy a new bow!! Shoot a bunch, with an open mind, and let one speak louder to you than all the rest. Regardless of brand name. Best of luck with your new rig Belo!! Sounds like ya got a winner!! Pic's please, when you get it out to shoot!!! Congrats on the new truck too!!
  8. You are the definition of the word friend Larry. No doubt you raised an ailing friends spirits. A whole lot of good time buddies out there. But a true friend is there when the Chips are down. You do fine work sir. Have another one of those drinks on me! You certainly deserve it.
  9. Me and the boat are now good to go!! Just looking for the next nice day!
  10. I'm sorry, I have no information that will help you. And I really hope you find the perfect solution. I just wanted to say that you are a wonderful son. And I'll send good thoughts and a prayer to you and your Mom.
  11. Awesome Buck! Beautiful Mount!
  12. I really like all sorts of hunting. Predators, squirrels, rabbits, grouse, pheasant, woodcock, turkey, woodchucks, coons. Never really done much duck and goose shooting, but may try it more when I retire. But nothing else gets my blood pumping like deer hunting does. I look forward to it, and think about it year round. To set up and have a deer come within a few yards, is so exciting to me. Even if I do let most all of them walk these days. Something deep inside me, connects to being in the deer woods on a frosty fall morning. Always has, always will. I enjoy being out there even if I don't see a deer. The fall deer woods is my happy place. And the meat is delicious!!!!
  13. wolc123, as with any decision regarding change, we will not all agree, as we all have different reasons to support or not support any change. I too am very thankful for the best two weeks of the deer season to be able to use crossbow, if I choose to. To each their own. Simple as that. I still will be out with my bow, for as long as I can draw the string. The bow has been my true passion for decades now. And will remain so, even if full inclusion is passed.
  14. I honestly feel the decision should be made by NYSDEC. And not used as a political pawn, by certain city politicians, who have no clue about hunting, and have never held a bow of any kind in their hands. Hopefully someday I'll get to post a "Happy Dance" picture too...........grin.
  15. Awesome!!! Great pictures and top notch company! A few fish is just icing on the cake!
  16. Well at least one member is happy! We are all entitled to our own reasons for or against full inclusion of crossbow. Belo has stated his stance many times, and I respect that. And I agree to disagree.
  17. Happy Birthday moog.... Arcade hunter.... Fletch !!! Hope your special day brings you the joys of all that you love, and all who love you! Soak it all in fella's!!
  18. I think there are many sorry to hear that. Especially some of the older hunters like myself, who are having difficulty drawing their bows. Hopefully full inclusion will garner more support next year, or the year after. I thank Ric at the Crossbow Coalition for his tireless work on this each year. And highly encourage anyone interested, to support Ric and the CC.
  19. Sounds like you have some good people in you corner, thankfully! Best of luck to you. Hope this one will be the best ever my friend.
  20. I once forgot to take off the transom straps. Kept backing in, till my front tires were almost in the water, and the front of the boat started floating. Another tournament angler saw me do this, and I was the butt of many jokes for quite some time................grin. I earned that one. Never be in such a hurry that you don't do a final walk around, to check everything before backing down.
  21. I have got a few smiles, and heartfelt thank you's. After seeing someone, like a dad and his young family having trouble backing their boat to the water. I just tell them put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel, and move it in the direction you want the trailer to go. I do try to help when I can. Like NFA_ADK said, if you're not familiar with doing this, practice in a parking lot before going to the launch.
  22. This got brought up in the 'Live From The Water' thread, so thought it would make a fun thread of it's own. Where do i even begin??? I've run boats since my teen years, and have seen so many dumb things at boat launches. Even committed a few myself. I have seen three different tow vehicles sunk, due to not setting a parking brake while in neutral, or leaving it in reverse. Seen boats sunk at the launch, or take on a bunch of water, because the plug was never put in. I did this ONCE!! (never tell someone else to do this, and assume they did) I've seen some really good knock down drag out brawls, where even the "ladies" got in on the action! Seen young kids swimming right in the launch itself, as their parents are passed out drunk at the picnic table. Seen enough bumpers mangled by jackknifed trailers that a bodywork guy could retire. Seen grown men cry when after 25 attempts to back the boat into the water, they still could not do it on attempt number 26. Seen so many boob flashes as women attempt to board the boat and slip, or are moving around in the boat as it gets launched. (this is not a bad thing) mostly........ Seen the skegs on so many outboards torn off by the ramp because the motor was not raised and left in the down position. Even a few lower units took damage from this as well. Seen people pulled into the water that were holding the boatline, or just lost the boatline, and the boat just floats away with no one in it. I really could go on and on, but will leave plenty of room for other comments that are sure to come. If you ever want some really good free entertainment, just go to any boat launch on a weekend afternoon!!! One of my favorites is the Mayfield launch on Sacandaga. Two ramps of fun in the sun!
