  1. Drop shot will work, as well as 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig head. Still rig it wacky style. But Texas rigged works too, if there is a lot of snags or grass. Always keep an eye on your line. It you see even a little tic, set the hook. I have successfully fished Senko's down to 20+ feet. It is a bait that fish don't usually see that deep. And the bass, especially the deeper smallies can't seem to resist em.
  2. Joel is my most prized protege,' and quite the knowledgeable bass fisherman! I will always fondly remember sitting at your kitchen table, talking bass fishing with him and Ana. What a great kid.
  3. Way to go!!! That is a real beauty!!
  4. That, or at least a pair of pink fuzzy dice on the rear view.......grin.
  5. Have you given trying canoe a thought? More room, can still fish shallow water or streams. And I think for a larger size feller, it would be much more comfortable.
  6. Sorry brother, but Jeeps are made for adding cool aftermarket stuff!! Looks awesome by the way. And what's next to go on there??? C'mon.....there must be at least one more thing.....right?
  7. You are absolutely right!! If a player is truly GREAT, or HOF material, these obscure "stats" they have these days, will only be a small part of what gets them there.
  8. Wherever you and the family end up moog, hope you all have a great time! Let me know if you make it this far east.
  9. How about a day spent hiking at Thatcher State Park? The trails are not too hard, and the views are breathtaking. Could even have a little picnic in between short hikes.
  10. You sometimes do get that in Rec league baseball unfortunately. Ask around, and get your son on a travel team. there are a few levels of play on travel, and your son may need to try out. But the kids that play travel ball tend to be more in to the game, and more skilled. And usually better coaching too. At this level your son can still improve his skills and do well, even on a bad Rec team. (We've been there too) That will carry him over to the next year, where he may be on a much better team.
  11. Yeah, for sure!!! That is one big, fat eye right there!!! I have never caught one that big.
  12. I really like a deer hunter not afraid to think outside the box!!! You my friend are always thinking. That's Awesome!!! As long as it's legal, there is no right or wrong way. And in my humble opinion, the hunter that is not afraid to try something new, is a better hunter than the one who does the same things over and over. Eventually, the local deer will catch on and avoid you!!! Some new ideas will work, some won't, but you won't know if it works for YOU, unless you try it!! Good luck, and give it a try my friend. And always keep thinking!
  13. If you go out in the canoe, try a Senko type stick worm. Tie on a #3 worm hook and just hook the worm once through the middle (wacky rig). Toss it out along the edge of the weed line or close to any cover, and let it fall. Most times bass and pike will hit it on the fall, and hook themselves. If no bite on the fall, just raise your rod tip and reel in the slack, and pause.Do that two or three times then cast again. I have taken kids and others with little to no experience, and the Senko always got them fish! Fish pretty much hook themselves with little to nothing done by the fisherman. Colors don't really matter much, pick up a pack each of light and dark colored ones. If you PM me your address, I'll send you some hooks and a couple packs of the worms. If there are fish there, these will catch em!
  14. Might effect the mount. Won't effect the meat at all.
  15. Nice haul Andrew!!! What did that biggest one weigh??
  16. Congrats man! That's one lucky kid to have an uncle like you!
  17. Grandson is ripping it up in A1 Travel ball. Batting over 500. Three for three tonight. And made a couple sweet plays at 1st.Love our home field. First hit down the left field line.Second hit pulled to right field. Last hit to right center.Inside pitch, watch it all the way to the glove. We won 9 to 4 over a very good Albany team.
  18. This is what I do if I'm making my goulash. Onions, peppers, garlic, about five different spices and seasonings. And ground venison!! Have had so many people that 'don't eat venison', tell me 'man, this is awesome'!!! Most times I don't spoil it for them, just smile and say thanks! Enjoy! But of course my wife only makes "Her" sauce from scratch.
  19. On Sacandaga I like Laskies Grove to launch, down in Mayfield. I NEVER-EVER go to the state launch on Saratoga!!! Always, South Shore Marina. And never a state launch anywhere on a weekend if I have another option. Some of the dumbest things I've seen humans do, have been at a state boat launch. A tournament is the place to see maximum efficiency for loading and unloading boats. I've seen 40 or 50 boats launched in half an hour or less.
  20. Really nice of you! Way to go!

I shot one last year at the club range that belonged to another member. We traded rifles for a few shots. Was chambered in 270. I liked it very much and it shot great. A bit different from my Sako, feel wise, but still VERY nice. It grouped as well as mine too at 117 yards. Well worth it, even if you pay the full $500 I think.
  22. I certainly will. Most of my shooting will be in the back yard or over to the club. But a 3D shoot or two will be great practice, towards the end of summer.
