  1. No problem at all Rob! Was hoping to see and hear about others "getting ready and observations"! Here is more from me. First thing this morning, went to the lake property to move a stand and sure up some ground blinds. Lots of deer sign, in the usual places. Good to go over there! After leaving there went over to the farm property. Put up two new hub blinds. In very promising spots! Have high hopes for these, come rut time! Again plentiful deer sign, but no rubs yet, that we saw. Checked some cams, have few small bucks, doe with fawns, fox coyote the usual array of critters. Oh....and this guy! He has potential. Taken on my "lucky" wooly cam. Also got this pic, but have no idea what it is??? What do you guys think? Bear????
  2. Making family memories is priceless! Great pic's, sounds and looks like you all had a great time! Is there such a thing as a peanut butter and jellyfish shake??? Naw...probably not. grin..
  3. I'd bet there have been mid to high two's taken in NYS. Perhaps even a three hundred pounder? I've read stories about Canadian deer getting near four hundred pounds.
  4. Bermuda. Ain't never been there, they tell me it's nice! We are considering a cruise too. So will follow this thread. Take pictures for us, and enjoy your trip! Safe travels.
  5. Archie! I love it.....lol. Great pic's Biz! Looking good for you this season!
  6. I agree with the others above. Ya gotta hunt where you have the shot. Also about 10 to 12 feet high is perfect. Not too high or low. I use bungee cords around the tree, and stick in pine or hemlock branches behind and below to really break up my outline. The thicker the better. Keep movement to a minimum, and when you do move, do it in slow motion. Good luck! Let us know how ya make out with that spot!
  7. I'm still happy to shoot my scrubby, three year old eight points, on the farm, here at home. Never really cared about putting my name in B&C. In all the years I've hunted deer, I've only seen one deer in the wild, that may have been B&C. And only saw him once. That was in the late 70's hunting the Cooper River bottom, in SC. That said, my dream hunt would be up in the wilds of Canada. Not really for a Booner, but for the experience, and a chocolate colored rack. If I were to book a hunt, to try for a record book deer today, I'd try Kentucky.
  8. I know some of the guys here, and elsewhere, that still make purchases at Dicks or F&S. Most all of em are good guys, from this forum. I respect their right to buy wherever they want. Or to save a buck or two. But for myself, I can not, and will not compromise my principles. I cannot support a company that will take my money, and use it against me.
  9. For those of us that stuck to our principles, !!! By sticking together, we made a statement! We made a difference! Be proud! Lets keep it going. Between my grandsons sports, back to school stuff, my own fishing and hunting stuff, along with the impulse purchases, we make. For us, that adds up to over two grand this year, that will be spent elsewhere. $2000?? Just a drop in the bucket, for their bottom line. But multiply that by hundreds of thousands, or perhaps a million, easy to see the impact we are making!
  10. I love seeing ANY of the local deer! Nice pic's!
  11. Beautiful pic's Bionic! Thanks so much for sharing buddy!
  12. Dirty Harry said,..... "44 magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world".
  13. Awesome job Matt! My favorite so far! You know why.
  14. Still a fixed 100g three blade NAP Thunderhead, or a Muzzy for me. If it ain't broke, don't try to "fix" it!
  15. Thanks! Been in touch with Turheyfeathers. Nice of him to put us together! Will be sending you a PM for sure! This is exactly what I was looking for!
  16. I thought we all agreed that the Pa. Chest Girth, was the only way to measure deer........grin.
  17. I just was reading how the pro's had a bass tournament, in the Waddington area. They were weighing in over five pound average bags of smallmouths! Now the smallmouth is my favorite freshwaterfish, to catch by far. Sooo, I'm thinking of towing out that way to do some fishing. Any advise on where to stay, and tips for catching those huge smallies, from anyone familiar with that area?
  18. Really nice display! What area were most of those bucks killed? And which fair was the display?
  19. For us, its SE Maine. Lake Sabago, Ogunquit, Wells, Kennebunk, on up to Portland. I love lighthouses and rocky coastlines. But the solitude of the Maine woods, the whisper through the pines, is hard to beat too!
  20. We've been going to Maine for years. We absolutely love it. Was last there in May. While most of our friends and coworkers head south, we go north! Your pictures and commentary are AWESOME ! Thanks for taking us along with you. Keep safe in your travels. And keep us posted!
  21. Great bucks! I've never killed a droptine buck. That pic you have of one is NICE!!! Good luck this season! You have good reason to be excited!
  22. Some classics I remember from the drive in. The Graduate Mash Walking Tall The Billy Jack movies Psycho Jaws A bunch of John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies Vanishing Point Friday The 13th......the first one Aloha, Bobbie and Rose.......killer Elton John soundtrack from 75 Intermission cartoons were so cool too.
