  1. That's a stinky job! Coming up to help with whatever, will keep you camping and hunting for years in the future. Good for you Rob. Too much entitlement going around these days. Helping out the landowners is always so much appreciated, by the landowners!
  2. Nice pic's! That spot sure has good deer activity.
  3. I've been seeing a few more small bucks lately, but no hard horn yet. Soon enough though. Will check the cam's we just put out, in a couple weeks. Will likely see hard antler by then. I agree too, that the mature bucks will be the first to shed velvet.
  4. ALL... fawns, will carry their spots until they grow the first winter coat. More coyotes everywhere it seems. DEC should really consider not having a closed season on them. That would save "some folks" from having to shoot, shovel, and shutup. When their properties are being over run with them.
  5. I'd believe in wolves and mountain lions in NYS, before I'd believe in Squatchies running wild! At least wolves and mountain lions do exist..........somewhere.
  6. My popcorn was getting stale. Guess I'll make some more...............
  7. I too look forward to the photo's on the Maine trails! Keep safe and have fun!
  8. Clapton is one of my guitar heros! Will have to check this out. Lots of Christmas music in our home around the holidays. Thanks for sharing this!
  9. Seen a few in the backyard this summer. It grosses the Mrs. out when I hold them on my hand. Very cool little critters.
  10. Now don't go and ruin this thread by making too much sense!
  11. Great question Rob! Now most of these "sightings" say that along with the sighting, came a foul odor. So perhaps we should call them Stinky Feets???
  12. What an awesome program!! There should be more stuff like this today! Huge thumbs up Bob! I'm sure this will be a success on so many levels.
  13. I can remember deer hunting in temps way below zero many times. I don't think I've lasted more than a few hours, before coming out to warm up. I can tell you too, that the older I get, the less tolerance I have for extreme temps, high or low. Yes, during predator hunting, temps are many times zero or below. But we usually are only making short calling sets, of an hour or so. Before moving to the next set, and warming in between. Also much easier to stay warm longer, with the clothing available today. When it's brutal cold, I just put on multiple layers of wool and synthetics. That keeps the body core warm. Problem for me is that the feet and hands give up, long before the body does!
  14. Nether.................I'd only shoot with a camera, because 100 percent sure, it's some moron in a cheap gorilla suit!
  15. With the proliferation of trail cams, and the numbers of people in the woods these days. You'd think if there were Bigfeet out there, someone would have solid proof, or a dead Foot, to prove it. Makes for a great campfire story though!!! Carry on...........
  16. Welcome to the forum duke! I don't have any experience with this type of tent. Actually first time I've seen one like this. But I think it will keep you high, dry and comfortable. Just watch that first step in the middle of the night, going for a wiz break!!! Not sure how sturdy it will be in a high wind either? Or moving around at the edges, will it rock? Was thinking, even on a ground tent, you can buy some real nice cots, that are very comfy.
  17. 14 years old. 6'3" size15 shoe, and still growing! May need bigger blinds next year!
  18. Spent the day at our hunting property with my lifelong friend and hunting partner. We were doing 'deer stuff', instead of 'work', for a change. Some observations..... Lots of apples and acorns. The plots are WET, but growing.Fields are cut and looking good. Lots of deer runs and tracks. Even spotted a couple of young bucks. We re-brushed in some proven 'rut blinds', in the thick stuff. Near the big swamp. Moved a tree stand. Set six cams on different parts of the property. Started putting a plan together for youth weekend, for hopefully, my grandsons first deer! Picked out good spots for two new pop up blinds. After dinner, my grandson and I set the blinds up in the backyard, to air em out.Anyone else observing and or, getting ready? Doing stuff like this gets me pumped up! Season will be here soon enough.
  19. 1700 to 2400 depending where I am. After age 50, it gets higher each year.......
  20. I agree, it is interesting. Interesting, in that these farm deer, look nothing like the wild deer on our farm. Especially the yearling bucks! It is the exceptional yearling here, that will grow a small spindly eight point rack. More common for a yearling here is a spike or fork horn. Its obvious that selective breeding plays a huge part, to get the antlers that grow on FSW's farm. And how rare it is for superior genetics to come together in the wild. To produce a record book buck. I do wonder, if one of these huge bucks, or even one of the superior doe were to escape FSW's farm, and bred with a wild deer. Would the result be similar to what is on the farm?
