  1. Happy Birthday! And best of luck this season too!
  2. Congratulations on a great buck! When it's meant to be, it's awesome!
  3. Crown Royal and Seven Up, or just on ice, when I do partake.
  4. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you well! And good luck for hunting this season! My fears were confirmed a couple weeks ago after the CT scan. Asked Doc to give me until after Thanksgiving to get some hunting done before surgery. This will be the 4th time under the knife this year for me. Not a one of us are ever guaranteed our futures. So live each day to the fullest. Hunt like each deer will be you last. Love your loved ones like there us no tomorrow. Thank God for the blessings in our lives. Live simply. 2017 has been a tough one. Already looking forward to a much better 2018!!! I'm certain it will be!
  5. Holding a leash and looking for a lost pet perhaps? Still no right to trespass.
  6. Thanks my friend. Got him with my 17 year old Mathews HQ32. After shoulder surgery in May, I've worked really hard to bow hunt this year. Still so very painful to shoot. So this may be my last bow deer. Proved to myself I could do it "one more time". Probably crossbow now, from this point for me. Me and the old bow are retiring. My grandson will now fill my bowhunter boots. But hey.....ya never know.......
  7. Just got home. Buck down! Shot him at 4:30. Saw him run out and stop after the shot. Found blood followed it for 50 yards, didn't like what I saw and pulled out to give him more time. Went back and found him! Went about 200 yards. This has been a very trying year for me. With some medical issues. My season will end on the 28th of this month. I was so happy to get this deer! Hunt like every deer could be your last. This is a trophy to me. 3 year old 4 point.
  8. Congratulations! Dandy buck! Way to go!
  9. Robin, thanks for taking us along, again. This is always one of the best posts of the year! Beautifully done sir.
  10. Got in before light, saw a shooter buck 80 yards away, at 8am, nose to the ground, then he was gone. Nothing after that. Changed location around 1, sat to dark, nadda. Be back out in the morning. Things can change in an instant!
  11. Heading out to a good deer funnel with lots of doe. Hopefully one of the boys will be hanging with them. Gonna be wet on and off. But going just the same.
  12. Any time now............just when you think nothing will show........it does. Remember, it's November 2nd. anything can happen at any time.
  13. No higher than ten inches. The height of a milk crate. I much prefer to be on the deer's level when hunting.
  14. Beautiful Buck! It all worked out perfectly for you! Now you and the Mrs. can get ready for the bundle of joy! Congratulations on both of the anticipated arrivals!
  15. Work in a public school district. Running the printing and graphic arts dept. for 7 schools. Also work with special education students in a school to work program. After spending 25+ years in commercial shops, this is by far the most rewarding employment I've ever had. Been here 14 years, will go another 6 to retirement with a NYS teachers pension. I'm not rich, but bills are paid. And time off is ample. I'm 60.
  16. You back in Mendon or did ya move to Cal? Either way, good luck buddy! On the hill close to home, or PR? We just pulled some cards a day or so ago, not far from you, that showed activity slowed down in the last few days. What bucks we did see on cam were mostly still at night. But things could pop at any time now. All it takes is one hot doe! Good luck and I'm there if you should need any help.
  17. No wound or blood, so not an arrow. I too will go along with the air rods!.................WTH.
  18. I will definitely do this to mine for next year! Was thinking about it and you just made up my mind. Thanks.
  19. It will be sooner than later, when you get it done buddy!
  20. Congratulations John! Nice shooting! Way to go!
  21. I will be out there! But not sure if I'll have the crossbow, as I'd really like to get one with my compound, this year. But it is nice to have a choice!
  22. I have also freely admitted many times, that I am most likely the worst on this forum, on guessing weight, antler scores or anything else, based on photo's. So always take my estimations with a grain of salt! ...........lol. So if you decide to shoot that bear, post up the weight and let us know! Good luck!
  23. Perhaps you could try in between that thick ravine and the picked corn field? Those big guys will most likely come from the thick stuff and stage in between before entering the picked corn.
  24. We don't get any gobblins out here. So I'll accept any leftovers!
  25. I'd go with that too. Maybe even a little more. I've never killed one, but see a lot of bears. And see what the ones the local guys get, weigh.
