I too have tried all kinds of stuff over many years with little positive results. Gave it all up a few years ago. Until.......last year. Was reading on this forum about guys using Evercalm, and getting surprisingly good results! So I picked some up and tried it. It works! Saw deer cross my trail and not come unglued. They would put their head down, smell, lift their head up, twitch their tail and move on! I saw this at least half a dozen times! Did not try the estrous version, but may give it a try in a coulpe weeks. It's about the only scent product I've ever used, that did what it claimed to do.

I am the worst at guessing numbers. But one look is all it takes to know he's a shooter! Hope you put your tag on em! Interesting, two bucks like that are still hanging around together!

Happy Birthday, to a guy who knows rifles! All the best to you sir!

Happy Birthday Gentlemen! Hope your day gets filled up with all the good stuff! -
You know u have a coyote problem when..
grampy replied to Gencountyzeek's topic in General Chit Chat
It's clearly a serial foam buck molester! Knock on doors, to see if any other foam bucks in the area have been molested. Perhaps a neighborhood foam buck watch group could be formed, to protect all the innocent foam bucks from molestation. These predators will stop at nothing to satisfy their sick passion for foam and plastic antlers! -
Your favorite brand of hunting gear
grampy replied to StevieSacs's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I just have a mish-mash of clothes and gear. Bought and amassed, over many years. But when all thrown together, work just fine for me! I'm good, comfortable and ready to go in most hunting conditions. Some brand names would be..... U.A., Field and Stream, Carhart, Rocky, Woolrich. Along with brands I've never heard of, when I saw something on sale, or that I thought I could make use of. -
Thanks for posting! Really enjoyed the video! What call were you using? We started calling a couple years ago and have found it's a lot of fun! Usually after deer season is when we get going. But I bet this time of year would be more productive.

Just getting to meet you all and spend a day hunting with you will be a "trophy hunt" for me! I don't need to shoot a deer. If 'any' deer is taken by 'anyone', that will be the best picture I could take back home with me! How cool would it be if you tag this buck while I am there! Just 'SEEING' one of those WNY beasts will be a huge thrill for me! As my average 3 year old buck, is lucky to make 100 inches here in 4-H! Just counting down the days...........

Great work from all involved! Go Luna!

In a couple more years, he'll be a real nice buck!!!......................cough.....grin. Too bad you didn't get a pic of his right side! As there is a sign that says 'save for grampy'! Will be there in 9 days!!!! So excited to finally get to meet you guys!

Beautiful buck Jay! Congratulations buddy! Way to go!

I totally understand, and truly sympathize with your frustration. And I'm hoping a new area will be even better hunting for ya. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Hunt a different area than where you found the bait pile. If you are caught within shooting range, you can be charged, even though it's not yours. Seems as if that area has way too much going on, to be enjoyable to hunt. As for the ECO, could he be mistaking YOU for the dirtbag in that area? I've met a few ECO's over the years and most have been very professional and helpful. This one, from what you have told us, does not fit the norm.

If you went back and found no blood for 50 -60 yards, wait until first light tomorrow. Sounds to me like a lethal hit. Blood will be easier to spot in the daylight too. You can also call Deer Search. After talking to a handler, he may decide to take up the track tonight. Especially if there are numerous coyotes in the area. What part of the state are you in?

Great looking buck! Hope you put your tag on him!

Good to have ya back Red!

Only been out twice. Opening day saw 11 including a real nice buck. And last Saturday saw zip. Will get back out this Saturday with my grandson. Getting near peak foliage and still cutting the grass!
-
Congratulations!!! Nothing like doing it the first time! Um...you know, with the bow. Great shot too. Way to get it done. Especially in 4-H! If I want a doe this year it will have to come with the bow, as I did not draw a 4-H DMP.

Best of luck and wish you a speedy recovery Dom. This time next year you'll be running in the woods like a teenager!

Welcome Dave! So glad you are joining us, good to have you here. A BIG congratulations on your doe this morning! Way to go! Four deer in four years, is awesome! I'm sure you have a bunch to share with us too. So nice you and your Dad are hunting partners! Doesn't get much better than that. Best of luck to you both, for the rest of the season! And join right in anytime, would like to hear more from ya.

You're on. We'll find a way to make it happen! I'll look forward to it! -
We welcome you to the dark side, with the opening of the crossbow season Larry. It's not so bad! And I've enjoyed the pain free hunting a time or two! Even shot a doe with it year before last! And ya know, the sky did not fall, like many predicted it would. Enjoy and good luck sir.

The song with your friend, and the story of the doe hunt were excellent Mike! Enjoyed them very much. Nice work on both! So good to have a hunter be able to express himself in a contrite, modest and caring manner. And not the "smoked em" fist pumping that is seen on TV. Of course after meeting you, I already knew what kind of hunter and guy you are. A darned good one. Congratulations my friend. -
130lbs? 8 inches high? You got me beat!
-
Good luck! Now get out there and lay your hands on him!
