  1. Up to the farm after work tonight. Two very nice toms out strutting for a half dozen hens. No gobbling though that I could hear. And too far away for pic's with my phone. But very encouraging for the youth season!
  2. Have you guys found a spot yet? You all would be welcome here. Not what I'd call a turkey hot spot, but do have some birds. 4-H 30 miles outside Albany in the hilltowns. Would not want anything in return.
  3. The cost of just tossing returned items, is nothing compared to the potential loss they would have if someone were to get sick.
  4. Looks like Michael J Fox in Teen Wolf! Cool picture!
  5. I'm certain too, that a Trex deck will add value to your home, if you should ever decide to sell. So it's not like you're tossing out $. And I'm sure the closer you are to NYC, the higher the labor costs. Being in Westchester, you are fairly close. So home pricing is higher too. My point is that most quality home improvements add value to the home.
  6. Good luck Doc. Hoping it will be a relatively easy fix. Any property owner, outside of public service, either has, or will go through septic issues at some point. Good you have a starting point now.
  7. LMAO! You know, come to think of it there were some stray strands of carpet scattered about, along with some imported olive oil fingerprints from previous handling. But hey, it's all good. Big thumbs up moog!
  8. Thank you b N b! And everyone, for the kind words. When something dreamed of, becomes a reality, all is well. ....smile...
  9. Yes, our farm property. We haven't really seen much turkey activity until this week. Be so cool if we both kill our first birds in the same spot! Thirty plus years apart.
  10. Need to get it done for him during youth weekend. As I'm scheduled for surgery on May 4th.
  11. For the money any of these trucks cost, they should all be mostly problem free. But agreed they all have their problems. And buying any new vehicle is just a luck of the draw. It seems.
  12. Got a report today from my buddy, a huge tom was strutting in the field, on the farm with a bunch of hens. The same field where a long, long time ago, I killed my first bird. Be so cool if I can bring it full circle with my grandson. We will see?
  13. Yup!!! Agree with ya 100% Steve. I was a long time Chevy guy. And had nothing but trouble with the last two new GM trucks I bought. So I bought a Nissan Frontier in 06. 155 thousand on her now with all original motor, tranny and drive train. Have put on one exaust from cats back. All new water hoses, a wheel bearing in each front wheel (it's a 4x4), and brakes when needed, along with tires of course, and just did rear shocks, that's it !! She is still running great! Good thing cause I can't swing a new truck right now. I know, buy American. And I will if I can. But I get more for my money from the Nissans and Toyota's that are mostly made in the USA now anyways. Out of the four brand new GM trucks I've bought, not one lasted me more than 110 thousand miles before having to sell or trade.
  14. So envious of you new truck guy's!! Way to go! All look very nice! But, I gotta make due with my old 06 for now.
  15. Steve, I would also like to add, that I hope you find a way to cure the mounting problem on your uncles Sako. Keep us posted as to what you come up with, as your opinions and solutions are solidly recognized. And I'll admit, that I don't know enough about these yet to give you a working plan of action. Be interesting to see how you guys work it out. And I know you will!
  16. Hoping it's something that will heal quickly on its own. Prayers sent.
  17. Looks like you guy's had a great day out there! You'll get em next time!
  18. Nice truck! Congratulations and good luck with your new baby!

    trout fishing

I've fished the Catskill Creek in Preston Hollow, and as I remember, it's usually stocked between April 15th and May 1st. Good pool just south of the store by the bridge is one of the stocking points. Hope you and your grandson have a great trip! North of the store behind the church is a real nice stretch. Good luck!
  20. Nice catch! Did you make any casts when you didn't bring in a fish?
  21. Not really a true freehand. Sitting on milk crate, pretty solid elbow to knee. Most all my hunting is from a similar position. So I like to practice that way. But when standing, I do like you if I can, and find a tree! Or hopefully they are 50 yards or closer! Oh, and a Primo's trigger stick is very beneficial too!
  22. Dang it, I'm out of likes! It looks like a beauty to me!! Very nice indeed! I too, hope you use it. As it will never make memories tucked away in a safe. And with the heirlooms that we hand down to our loved ones, aren't we really passing along memories?
  23. Respectfully saying, I've shot and owned my share of Rugers, Savage, and Remington rifles. I can honestly say none of them have performed like this Sako. Each shot taken "surpised" me, and when I checked the target, and saw the hit I just said, wow. I know there are many, more accurate guns out there. And almost anyone could out shoot me at the range. But this rifle, is the most accurate I've ever shot....by far. And held rock solid through almost two boxes of ammo. Can't wait to get out and shoot another box or two.
  24. Thanks guys. I'll admit that I've never been a great target shooter. This rifle definitely exceeds my capabilities. When we got to our shale pit range, I saw that winter had dealt a death blow to our bench. So the only thing I could do is put the lead sled on two stacked milk crates. Not the most solid option of course but that is how i made the adjustments and those shots from above. This is a pic from free hand sitting on a milk crate at 100 yards. Most of my hunting blinds have the crates in them, so this simulates my hunting conditions. Also a couple of these shots are from my grandson! And to clarify, his two shots were from the lead sled not free hand.
