With king Cuomo, behind giving DEC the responsibility of managing crossbow inclusion, I'm surprised it wasn't passed. Usually what Andy want's, Andy get's. Perhaps there is a small chance of this making it to the floor for a vote. But it's doubtful.

Happy for him too! He's been so close in the past. If you are going to win one this is the one to win!

Happy Birthday! Enjoy the best of family, friends and good food! What a great day for a Birthday!

That reminds me. Instead of going shooting yesterday, I should have been changing the oil and filter, and replacing the blades in the lawn tractor yesterday. I'll need it in the next week to ten days for sure. Guess I'll be working on that after work. And then cleaning guns!

The time and workmanship is clearly evident in this labor of love, restoration! She is beautiful! And this is one, you just don't see very often. Trucks from the 40's and 50's are absolutely the coolest! Cudo's to you G-Man for a job well done!

Hopefully posted just below your daughters thunder chicken! Good luck to all the young hunters!

My Dream Rifle Shoots Like A Dream!

On Friday I picked up a Rifle, that I've dreamed of for a long time. A Sako 85 Classic in 270 topped by a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40. My buddy moog5050, made the purchase possible. "Thanks Brian"! So today my grandson and I went over to our shale pit range. Him to sight in his turkey gun, and me to shoot my dteam rifle! I didn't disappoint one bit! First it handles beautifully and immediately felt like an extension of myself. Had to make a couple small adjustments. The trigger pull was crisp and perfect for me. Anyway this is my first 5 shot group after the adjustments. At 100 yards. This rifle will make a lot of memories, for my grandson and I.

We went over to our shale pit range today. He wanted to sight in for his first turkey season. I'd say he did well. This is at 25 yards. He's so excited! Just got to help get a bird in front of him, and let him close the deal. Yes, I'm a proud grampy.

Nice shooting moog! It will be awile before I'm able to shoot. Been missing it a lot, especially a day like today. Hoping to be ready before bow season? We will see. Was able to do a different type of shooting today though!!! Will post later.

Congrats! That is a real nice first trout! Way to go! Now you are hooked! Sea salt and pepper to taste. A bit of paprica, butter and some lemon wedges. Double wrap in foil. Pre heat grill, medium heat. About 7 minutes per side. Enjoy!

I see the nys budget passed, so now we have AR's?
grampy replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
Absolutely right. No telling what those zipperheads, in Albany, cut and left on the floor. Or slid in through the back door. -
If you have no sense of pride or accomplishment with hunting, wouldn't it just be easier to just raise and slaughter beef? I realize that hunting is many things to many different hunters. I get that. But I've never met a hunter who felt nothing for the animal they hunted. Myself, I don't pose for pictures, and beat my chest for bragging or egotistical reasons. But to preserve a beautiful memory of a successful hunt, and to capture the beauty of an animal before its processed for my table. And that goes for ANY, animal I'm fortunate enough to kill. Size does NOT matter! I can pull out a picture from decades ago, and with one glance be taken back to that point in time, to remember every detail of the hunt. So I can't imagine someone not having a picture to remember and preserve a hunt. Unless they have no memories to preserve. And in my mind, that's sad.

In almost 45 years of hunting in NY, and other places. I've honestly, never seen a one and a half year old buck, that wide across the back and that deep in the chest, from top of back, to brisket. Also does not show the stubby, baby face of a one year old. Anyone who claims to see year old bucks like this, on a regular basis, is either sadly mistaken, half blind, inexperienced, or full o crap! Not that there is not exceptional young bucks out there. But anyone who's been around the deer woods more than a time or two, can see the obvious. JMO.

Grumpy old men, still makes me laugh and I've seen it a few times.

Good for you, that's awesome! Good looking litter. Keep us updated with pictures!

Each year, I'm invited to hunt a friends property, that has many lines going for his small syrup operation. I've observed the deer going under, over, and along the lines. They paid the lines no more attention, than they would any natural obstacle in the woods. But the lines have been there for years. Not sure how it would effect deer movement, when they are first put in. or how long it will take for the deer to get used to them.

You've come far pilgrim. Feels like far. Were it worth the trouble? Huh? What trouble?

SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program
grampy replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Deer Hunting
Perhaps if you had set up on that smokin hot buck sign, I brought you to, you would have a dog in this fight. -
Jeremiah Johnson!

If I shot it, 3 years old. If my buddy shot it 2 years old.

Tractor Supply and Dicks is where I found it. It's getting common to see Sawyers for sale now.
