  1. Way to go maytom!!!! Everything I've heard about that bow has been glowing. My buddy shot one and raved about it. My current bow is a 17 year old MQ-32. When I finally upgrade, the Halon will be my choice. Good luck with your new bow. No doubt, it will bring you years of smiles!
  2. I'll be taking my soon to be 13 year old grandson, and possibly a co-worker and his 14 year old daughter. Just have not been seeing or hearing many birds on our farm property so far. But there are some. Added challenge I guess!
  3. 30 pages now! Has anyone changed their point of view, by the content of 30 pages of he said, she said, this way, that way, and no way? Didn't think so. Carry on............................................................................ Yes, this is a hunting forum, open to discuss hunting related topics. But sometimes, the topic denigrates to the point of the proverbial dog chasing it's tail. I think valid points were made for both sides of the discussion in the first 10 pages. Guess I'll cruise on over to the beer or food thread...........................................................
  4. Just a 18' bass boat. So yeah it would have pulled it. Would have been a solid 2nd car for years with no car payment! But as usual, grampy's a day late and dollar short!.........smile
  5. If I thought it could pull my boat, I'd have been all in on this great deal!
  6. Congratulations to Jordan Lee! On winning the Bassmaster Classic! This young man came from way behind on day one, and dealt with a broken motor (lower unit), on the final day, then had to hitch a ride early to weigh in! Way to deal with adversity and keep your head in it to win it! The future of big time bass fishing looks bright!
  7. Welcome! Happy that you found us, and that you are giving hunting a try! There are some top notch hunters here that will always be willing to help you. There are a few really good members, from L.I. too, that I'm sure will chime in as well. Looking forward to hearing more from you. Just pull up a seat and join right in!
  8. A big 'ol Happy Birthday to you sir!!!
  9. I agree 100% with this. I'd be more than happy to pay more for my tags, if it put more ECO boots on the ground. I really think the ECO's do great work! There's just not enough of them. The area's assigned to each officer, is usually 100's of square miles. I think, before more legislation is passed, in the form of AR's or Crossbow, and any number of other proposals that are currently being talked about. It would make more sense to recruit more ECO's to enforce those laws. The green line is way to thin. We need to shore up that line, before adding more laws to enforce.
  10. You really have to check out Maytoms display boards. They are the nicest I've ever seen. Stunningly beautiful!
  11. Lone Silver Wolf, thank you for your service sir. I'm an Army veteran, serving from 74 to 77. All the men who trained me were Nam vets. So were quite a few I served with. Though I was not old enough to serve in Nam myself, I've listened to their stories. And have been awakened by their screams in the night. My heart went out to them then, and still does today. Along with any combat vet who has looked out from under a steel pot, with haunting eyes. I'll never fully understand. Cause I was never there.
  12. I've only fished local tournaments. But have done so, on and off for many years. On days when I did well and was carrying a heavy bag to the scales, I felt like KVD! Can't imagine how it must feel to fish the classic! But from talking with guys, who have some experience fishing larger tourneys, it's a grind. And not all glitz and glamor. Guy's sleeping in their truck and so forth, with very limited sponsorship. For every pro in the top echelon of fishing, there are thousands struggling to make a check. Me, I just prefer to keep it simple and fun! And limiting my Classic dreams to the deck of my boat.
  13. At guitar practice last night, I played this a couple times. Hope the original artist doesn't mind. Couldn't get all the way through, without a big lump forming in my throat. Whole lotta feeling and emotion in this song. Good song to use on my campfire tour this summer.
  14. Girl Power! Thats some nice shootin right there!
  15. There is a member here, Robin, who really has the Adirondack back woods camping down. He's posted some fine videos here too. Check em out.
  16. Summit Viper. I may only use it a couple times a season. But it's very comfortable, relatively quiet and perfect for setting up on smoking hot sign, during the pre rut. I'm not a small guy either, 6'1" about 200lbs. And can sit in this thing comfortably for hours. I really should use it more than I do. Really is a good tool to have available, for the right time and place.
  17. Happy Birthday! Only the best of the three F's for you today. Family, Friends and Food! Throw in a Favorite beverage or two and you have a winner of a day! Soak it all in and enjoy!!
  18. Cool stuff! In my dreams, I've fished the Classic, with a eight pound lead on the last day! I've settled for cashing in on local tournaments, now and then. Just to ride along with any of the pro's, as a Marshall, would be an awesome experience.
  19. I haven't been able to shoot for about a month now. But my grandson is wearing out my 15 yard basement target lately. Good to see the torch being passed on. He will be much better than I ever was.
  20. Pretty cool stuff there wooly! When it's done, it would make one heck of a mascot for Hunting NY! Or at the very least, for one of those emoji thingies.
  21. Perhaps a little bit of both....smile...... So cool to hear stories like this! Better watch out when she moves up to a big girl bow! She will be lights out to the competition!
  22. Doc, I really like your blinds! Seems we are very similar in our hunting set up's. Some nice deer have been taken in each of these over the years. Hopefully my grandson will get his first deer, from one of these. As they are all set up for two now.
  23. Over the years, I've built dozens of natural ground blinds. Just using what I'd find lying on the ground nearby. Usually with a large tree, upturned root ball or log as a backstop. This is how I hunt 75% of the time now. To see the deer on their level and to have them at times, literally close enough to touch is simply amazing to me. In productive spots, I'll have more than one, for changes in wind direction. I can be very mobile as well, to keep up with the changes in deer movement, stage of the rut, or a change in food sources or weather patterns. And it seems my success rate and enjoyment, have both risen, since I came out of the trees!
