  2. My deepest sympathy along with heartfelt prayers to you and your family. No more pain for her now, may she rest in peace.
  3. In my neck of the woods, back in the day. They just had to be anatomically correct to get the green light!
  4. Not long until retirement for me, and I'm seriously thinking about getting out. I have been looking at an area just north of Cedar Falls, Iowa in Bremer County.
  5. I remember a piece of scrap 2x4 wedged into the crotch of a pine tree. Don't remember any naps in that one.
  6. And yet, the same lawmakers keep getting voted into office. No hope in sight.......so sad. No one on a state level that I have voted for has been elected. So apparently, this is how the majority of people in this state prefer to live.
  7. This really sounds like an awesome event! I'm sure it will be informative and fun!
  8. That's pretty close to you rob! And I'm sure a ton of opportunities for shooting, bow and gun!

Sure wish that there was something like this back when I got started! Sounds like a great opportunity for all hunters to stop by and learn something new, share information and enjoy the company of other hunters and archers! Best of luck on what I'm sure will be an awesome event!

Best of luck to you new bowhunters this year! It would be so cool if you would post your progress, highs, lows and any questions that you have. We are here for ya! Enjoy the ride and take it slow.
  12. I'm happy to say, that you have in the last year, come down with a life long love of deer. It's a fever I hope you never get over.
  13. You are so cool that you get two Birthday threads! Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy your day sir.
  14. Happy Birthday! All the very best for you today sir! Family, friends, a yummy dinner and whatever makes you smile!
  15. There are some darn good people that visit this forum. And phade you are one of them! My avitar pic was taken with a cam my grandson set. That cam was given to him by you. I'm sure the cam that is being gifted, will bring as much joy to another kid as it did for Zac.
  16. Oh yeah, shot with my "antique" MQ-32 ! I've shared a bunch of good times with it.......
  17. Not too bad out tonight. So here's my first shot at 30 yards. And first group at 30. Can only hold full draw for a few seconds due to bad shoulders. But I want one more deer with my bow this year!
  18. For a first rifle, I vote for the bolt action too. With the right glass they can be very versatile, with up close, mid range and longer shots. But guns are like cars and trucks. Everyone likes different ones for different reasons and applications. If you get the chance, shoot as many different types and calibers as you can. After doing that, you will just "know" what speaks to you loudest. If you like the rifle and shoot it well, there are no "bad" choices.
  19. Welcome, always happy to have a new hunter join us! Lots of good people here that will be willing to help you out. Keep us updated on your progress. Best of luck in all your hunting adventures!
  20. Way to go Bowguy! We need to have something like this in all areas!
  21. I wonder if he was ever in the Army? Cause I had a drill sergeant at boot camp in 74, just like that!
  22. Awesome looking property! Looks like you got more than a little sweat equity invested!
