Shot my bow last night. Used 100gr. Thunderhead fixed three blade, Muzzy 100gr. fixed three blade and 100gr. field points. All shot pretty much the same POI. from my old Matthews solo cam, set at 53 pounds. After using the Thunderheads for years, I'm thinking about switching to the Muzzy's. They seem to fly just a tiny bit better out of my set up.

Thanks burmjohn! This is a great hunting site, filled with excellent information on a wide range of hunting and outdoor activities. There is also an array of insightful and knowledgeable hunters and outdoors people as members. Who are willing to share their hunting stories, photo's, and advice, that makes coming here so interesting. Great job, for maintaining an outstanding place for us all to gather. A tip o' the hat to you and our moderators!

I use the 100 grain Slick Trick with my crossbow set up. They are very accurate out to 60 yards during practice. Not sure if it relates, but hope they work well for you too.

So true Doc! The small property that has deer will be more productive than the large property that holds few deer. And to answer the the original question, my opinion is to have at least ten acres per hunter. I have the 45 acre property by the the lake, the farm where I grew up is 375 acres, and only my buddy and I hunt these. But every now and then we will invite a friend or relative to join us. My Grandsons will hunt here as well. I also have another farm of 400 plus acres that I have permission to hunt and share with my brother and three other guy's. The 45 acre property is a natural funnel and at certain times, we see more deer there than all the other properties combined.

Long range shots are definitely not for me. 30 yards is my hunting limit. That being said, if another hunter regularly practices 100 yard shots and can consistently hit his target at longer ranges. Understands what it takes to pull it off and knows when not to attempt the shot. Then who am I to judge, for hunting different than I do. It beats the devine intervention shot. If you are skilled enough to make long range shots, I will withhold judgment. As stated above, out west,a 50 yard shot is as common as a 20 yard shot here.

That was one heck of a yearling buck. He would have been a super deer in 2 or 3 years. Too bad.

Oh yeah.......some tasty, smokey, goodness right there!

I use a camo bandana . With my hat pulled down low .

At 58, I don't hunt from trees much anymore. Can't imagine being in one at 70. And definitely not without a harness!

Good choice! Now get out there and put some rounds down range and enjoy your new baby! Good luck with it this season!

Still need to brush in a few more ground blinds, move one ladder stand and put on the new broadheads (same as last years), find more camo and boots that will fit my grandson (he's growing fast). Other than a few small things, we will be ready to go!

Bump. We are the same age! You in years, me in spirit!

A very nice batch of stuff, and all for free! Whoo Hoo! Nice!

Go for it. Brush it in real good, and you will be much more comfortable on those rainy - snowy days. Good luck!

At Christmas time someone always gives me a pack of these. Sometimes, I'll even use them to gut the deer. But I ALWAYS use them to put the liver and heart in, to bring to a neighbor, who cooks them up.

Make a report with the local PD. Hopefully they will step up patrols in that area in the future. And if they catch the shirthead, breaking into another place nearby, perhaps they can tie him to your break in and maybe you get some stuff back. If you put out expensive cell cams, what's to say they won't steal those too? Get a regular trail cam and hide it along the driveway, where you can at least get a discription of the dirtbag's vehicle to pass along to the police. Too bad this happened to you. Hope you get your stuff back.

Nice hideaway for those cold drizzling days! Great job brushing it in, too!

I have the Savage Axis in 7mm-08 and it is a very accurate for a low budget rifle. Have heard good things about the Ruger American too. I upgraded the trigger spring and put better glass on it and am very happy with the performance. These days, $500 or less can get you a very accurate rifle. Glad your insurance came through for you. And I hope scumbags that stole your stuff, have bad mojo come back to them 100 times over.

Springcreek outfitters missouri is a scam
grampy replied to Wiseman's topic in Out of New York Hunting
You can't really blame an outfitter if you didn't do your homework. Did you check references from past deer hunters? Did you check the number and quality of mature bucks killed in that area? Did you call the outfitter and talk to him or any of the guides about expectations you and he had? Perhaps early season very hot weather shut down deer activity? Did you ask about that possibility? These are all basic questions that should have been asked BEFORE booking any hunt. Sorry that your hunt was not what you expected. But if you didn't do your part, what did you expect? -
No, I don't have a permit for Leggo deer.

Always manage to leave the ONE thing I NEED, out of my pack! But don't know it until I look for it.
