There was one on the albany craigs list not too long ago. C.L. might be worth a look.

Had a one legged girlfriend once. Her name was Eileen.

Robin, thank you for taking me along with you on another trip! Your video's are very pleasant to watch. The camera angles, editing and music are outstanding! Are you planning a fall trip, with the fall foliage as a backdrop? Thanks for posting and look forward to seeing more! This is an awesome thread!

You are right of course! I'll find out this weekend, how my gun likes them. It shoots the Nosler BT's very well. And most likely I'll hunt with them this season. So if anything, I will have fun shooting the fusions this weekend. Can never have too much trigger time!
-
I recently picked up a couple of boxes of the Federal Fusion in 140 gr. for my 7mm/08. Got a deal on them for $50 on two boxes. I will get out to shoot them this weekend, and was wondering if anyone out there has used them and if they will perform well on deer from 20 out to 250 yards.

The Federal B.T. is a good place to start. Buy a box and see how they do. They should shoot just as good from your Ruger as they do from your Browning. Good luck!

Being that it's a friends property, my reaction would be quite a bit different than if it was my property. I would ask your friend if he is friendly with the neighbor. If he is, perhaps a talk explaining what you found will work and ward off hard feelings between them. Maybe the landowner himself doesn't even know, it could be a relative hunting the property. That's the nice guy approach. Since this garbage is on their land, you don't want to trespass to leave a note or take it down. But a 4' x 4' white sign with blaze orange, WTH, or something to that effect, facing the mess, might get his attention. Or call the guy and tell him he has one week to get rid of it or DEC will be involved. That's the not so nice approach. Take pictures and get the gps and call DEC and let the chips fall where they may. Or call to ask him if he is going poaching this season! And his feeders are now full of holes. That's the take no prisoners approach. Speaking only for myself, I would work my way down the list until the crap was gone.

Yup. Good luck hunting with your young cousin this season!

If you don't HAVE to go in there, then stay out till you hunt. Unless you have multiple sets over a large area. Then possibly you could use a late season set, now, that won't be hunted for quite a while. Good advice already given about just duplicating the shot close to home.

Perfect!! Beautiful job! The idea with the fence post and barb wire from the property where the buck was taken was spot on. It made a nice euro mount of a great buck into an eye popping trophy.

So true! I hunt properties only a few miles apart . Have seen many times where one property is dead and the other is blowing up with activity. Only to switch around in the next week or so. Really the best advice, is to hunt every day you can. And spend as much time in the deer woods as possible during the last week of October through November. Because hey, you never know!

Bowhunting October Whitetails is one of the best hunting video's ever made! IMO. Try to take a walk around the fields. At certain points you will find where main deer access trails enter the field. Try to set up inside the woods from the field 50 yards or so and down wind from the trail. The older bucks will stage here until dark so be ready for them! You will find a number of these runs on this property. Try to pick one that will give you a downwind access, to slip in and out with as little disturbance as possible. Looks like an awesome property to hunt! Best of luck to you this season!

The worse day of hunting is still better than the best day at work. I know it's been said many times. But how true it is. Good luck to you out there!

Awesome bucks, but they will most likely die of old age if not hit by a car. With little or no hunting access it is cool, to at least see what a few years of age can do for a whitetail buck.

Being in the woods during a rain can be so soothing to the soul. This time of year, all you need is a light rain jacket and you are good to go. If you get a shot, well that's good too. If you made time to go, just go! If you are like me, you wont regret it!

Ewe guy's are so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!

Opening day deer, 1973, shot with an Ithica Model 37 16 ga. shooting Remington Sluggers. He was a small spike, following a group of doe's while I sat shaking in my boots on a stone wall along a field edge. I still hunt that property. And can still vividly recall every detail of that hunt.

Awesome!!! Congrats!! Just goes to show, when we work together we make things happen!

Cool pic's and a great buck!

I feel it's all about the parents or mentors in just about anything. Take driving a car for instance. What is a young person going to learn from a poor or reckless driver? So many things, good and bad, are learned from what a young person observes. We can't lump all the responsible parents and mentors, with the few wingnuts out there who know little more than the one's they are mentoring.

Deer activity will pick up the last week in October and run through the month of November. Peak activity will be a few days before and after Veterans Day. Same as every year in this area.

Natural ground blinds are my #1 way to hunt! In my opinion, nothing beats being on the same level as the deer you hunt! And to have a young hunter help build it and share it with you during the season, makes it all the better. Best of luck to you and your son this season!

Not for me. That is the complete opposite of how I like to hunt. Though it is legal and many deer are killed this way each year. And some hunters are very good at successfully organizing large drives. If we do drive deer, it's only a two man drive. With one sitting down wind and the other walking SLOWLY with the wind at his back. Usually about 50/50 on who gets the shot. I just don't like to hunt with a bunch of hunters. But that's just me!

I don't need to spend money to enjoy watching football, or any sport. Though I did win $100 in the office Superbowl pool a couple years ago. Didn't even know I won until I came to work on Mon. Never been much of a gambling type. Always had to work too hard for my money to toss it out. Everything costs money these days. But rooting for my favorite teams is still free! Unless you go to a game of course.
