  1. Still some rutting going on. Saw a 4pt and 6 pt this morning with nose to ground. Called in a small spike with grunt. My buddy saw a big buck today cruising the top of a ridge.
  2. I own 8 cams and my favorites are the cheap $39 moultrie. Takes decent pics and don't have to be worried about people taking it.
  3. On my way home from work Saturday, I went by the stateland I hunt at 4:15. Not one car there. I was surprised.
  4. Didn't hear a ton of shots. Heard one at 6:30 which isn't bad considering I've heard a bunch in almost pitch black in years prior. Heard about 10 shots by the time I left the woods at 9:15. I saw a spike dogging a doe and another small doe. The neighbor show the big 8pt with kicker we've been watching since August. Back at it tomorrow AM.
  5. My season is done as well. Had the best season in my 5 seasons of bowhunting despite not taking a buck. Got 2 does in the freezers and passed on multiple smaller doe as well as an 8pt, two 4pts, and a few spikes. Also had 2 monster bucks in bow range, things just didn't work out. Amazing season.
  6. My doe hung yesterday and today and it was in the 60's yesterday. I have it in the shade, with ice in the cavity and covered with a tarp. Never had any issues.
  7. I shot two doe this year with fawns in tow. I passed so many doe the past few years because they had a kid with them and I didn't fill one tag last year because if it. This year I told myself that unless the fawn was really small or had spots that I was shooting. First doe I shot a month ago, the fawn stayed for a few minutes and then left. The doe I shot yesterday, the fawn followed her mom after shot and then I heard the mom crash. The fawn followed the blood trail all the way back to beginning and bleated a handful of times then went back to where she crashed. Two hours later I saw her leave, wandering away, eating as she went. Bumbed me out to be honest!
  8. Rut in full swing here in 3G. At dawn, had a 4pt work a scrape 60 yds to my left. As this was happening, a monster 8 chased a doe by at 80 yds to my right. Got settled in hoping to see some fireworks. A bit later, heard a twig snap behind me. Turned around to see a big wide rack in the briars/brush and he keeps going and stops and destroys a sapling. No interest in my calls. 20 minutes later, the big 8 from earlier is still chasing the doe and they are heading for me. I draw, they run by at 40 yds and disappear. A little while later, I hear movement behind me and see a nice dark racked 8 chasing a doe in the briars towards me. They scented me and stop in their tracks. Her at 15 yds and he at 30 with just his head poking out of brush. He knew something was up and ducked down in the briars and disappeared but he didn't go far. The doe didn't move an inch for 45 minutes, just stood and looked around and wouldn't let me move at all. Snot icicles running down my beard. She had me pinned and I hear something moving in back of me, couldn't move my head because she and the buck in the briars would see me. The doe turns her head and I look behind me and see the monster 8 at 20 yds strolling trough without the doe, just passing my shooting lane. Have to just watch him go. Damnit. The buck from the briar patch shows himself again at 50 yds but stays behind a tree and just watches the doe. A group of 6 does pass behind me. The one doe eventually walks off and the briar buck starts chasing her and I didn't see them again. Spike runs by and hangs out for bit. I see the 4pt again with nose to the ground. A doe and doe fawn come by at 8 yds with no bucks in tow, I couldn't resist and shot the doe. She pilled up in 60 yds. Incredible day in the woods. 2 doe tags filled and 2 buck tags left.
  9. The pose you had her in at the end makes me feel awkward.
  10. Had a great day in two towns in 3G yesterday. Millbrook- Had a small 8 come in to my rattling right at first light. Did a loop and then came straight in nose to the ground and wall looking all around. I let him walk. 2 hours later, a doe and doe fawn came in the same trail, again to 20 yds. Tried to bust me but I wouldn't move. Stomped and bobbed heads for 10 minutes then they left. My buddy 300 yds away saw a monster 8 at 80yds but it didn't pay much attention to his rattling. A bit later he had 5 does chasing each other around his stand for 15 minutes. Pawling- My 3rd hunt on stateland. Finally saw some action. A small doe worked her way along the oak ridge eating acorns about 90 yds away. She worked her way towards me after 45 minutes and just stopped and stared at me for 15 minutes, she knew something was up. She had me pinned and then I hear crashing in back of me. She she looks toward the sound so I turn around and see a 4pt barreling down the hill towards her. They square off at 15 yes out. He is insistent, keeps sniffing her and she keeps running around. After 10 minutes of that, he basically says "screw it" and puts his nose to the ground and heads off in another direction. The doe stares me down for another 20 minutes until it was pitch black, then she moves on. Such a great day to be in the woods.
  11. Anyone reporting from 3G? Going out tomorrow morning.
  12. I think he's 2.5 and scores 85"
  13. On my commute from Dutchess, through Putnam to Westchester, there were 4 new dead bucks on side of road. All smaller bucks, fours and sixes.
  14. Depends on how far onto their property and the likelihood of me getting caught or not.
  15. I liked the first few seasons and then it was the same thing over and over and I stopped watching.
  16. I never take vacation during the season. Just weekends/holidays/ the occasional sick day
  17. I found her. Pretty spotty blood trail but she went only 60 yds and bedded down in some red brush. Good ending to story! Thanks
  18. Son of a bitch. Saw two does out at 70 yards coming out of the field coming down into woods I was in right after 7am. They stayed on field edge and headed to my left. Figured that was that, 15 minutes later really have to piss and I stand up and let it rip. Hear leaves crunching behind me, turn around and see the two does coming towards me, 20 yds away. Put my dong back in, grab bow, the mom comes to 10 yds and I shoot. Hear the shot, they split apart and both hang out at 15 yds for 5 minutes. Try to get another shot at mom but they see me move and they blow and slowly walk away. Get down 15 mins later, no blood on ground but arrow is slimey and smells like crap. Damnit. Backed out and will start tracking in 3 hours. I'm kicking myself! Rushed the shot, didn't anchor properly I think.
  19. Whenever I want. Depends on how much confidence I have and what else I may have to get done during the day. Never sit all day.
  20. Hope to get there one day. Seems so long though, I can't imagine. I've been in a few 3 year relationships and even that feels like a long time. I'm 29 btw.
  21. Chants are now? Never saw one before. What about hens? Are they now?
  22. Found a few pounds of chicken of the woods recently. These are great! Love the texture.
  23. recipe for canning zucchini? Have a ton of them
