This year was average for me. On the island it was on the slower side, only seeing a handful of yearling bucks besides the buck I killed. Upstate in 4G the action was a bit better than years past due to a new foodplot I put in. I firmly believe with the lack of mast in the woods that these deer just vacated certain areas and keyed in on others with food. We have a large apple orchard and only 3 trees had apples this year. That area is usually loaded with deer sign, but this year I struggled to find any sign at all. Tons and tons of spikes on the cams upstate and no real good shooters on film. In 2-3 years with this antler restriction should be very good up by me.

I killed this doe in 4G Saturday night. She was with 6 other does and a spike headed to my foodplot.

Things have really quieted down by me. My bro in law has been out and hasnt seen half the action that took place 2 weeks ago. Talking to some other guys that hunt out here say the same thing. Sightings have dropped off. This is one of my favorite weekends to hunt though because the big boys will be out looking for that last receptive doe...

THE LAST TIME I SAW A BUCK CHASING A DOE ON OPENING DAY WAS 2009. A WIDE 4 POINT CHASED A DOE OUT OF A SWAMP AROUND 2 PM & I FED HIM A .308 ROUND.

That deer is a PIG! Not too sure about the score. The body throws me off.

I put all my clothes in a giant ziplock bag and then put the bag inside of a plastic storage tub. All hunting towels, underwear and socks are marked with an "H"
