  1. Maybe you are right biz
  2. Man,i wish i lived closer. The academy sounds like fun!!
  3. I have been shooting like crazy this year. Got a new used bow and wanted to get comfortable with it and i am now. I shot a 3 " group at 44 today one broadhead two field points. Look out deer!! I dare one to come by my stand Oct 1st. I won't shoot 40 yds,but i could.
  4. 30 is way up there. I will go that high for work if i have to on a scaffolding, but i have no desire to climb that high in a tree. 20' seems pretty high there.
  5. not oysters,they have no stem,these do.
  6. First of all,you guys crack me up. First one at 33? I guessed..
  7. Yesterdays first shot at 45,i pulled it six inches to the right when i aimed for the right spot. Todays at 23,hit the target, phew.
  8. I think i will use a canoe this year to cross a swamp down the road from me for a sneaky way into the woods. My property borders it,so i can leave the canoe down there. Should throw the deer for a loop.
  9. Damn, wish you hadn't posted this. Now i have to go and buy some mechanicals even though i have some brand new montecs in the box still. Just kidding,i don't know that i have the energy for mechanicals,i shoot the halon x pro,it is a target bow and under 300 fps. Set at 60# and 29.5" DL i will use fixed heads for sure. Interesting article for sure, not what i would have expected.
  10. No. 1 for me is not wounding any deer this year. Got a new used bow and getting it set up just so. I have been shooting a ton and i am going to set up more spots for my climber. Clear some lanes now,no little twigs in them to deflect my arrows. I also got lighted nocks so i can see better where my arrow hits. As far as hunting goes,i also hope for an early doe but will save my time for late October. I walked a lot last year, this year i will sit more and try to be slick about my approach to the stands. It looks like the red oaks are full of acorns this year, that is good for the property i hunt. I hope the apples will stay on the trees longer this yesr too, makes things easier.
  11. I just went and trimmed two spots yesterday. I climb up in my climber and look what needs trimming, then do just that. After i got into the first tree and looked around for a few minutes i see a deer approaching. Looked like a year old doe. And behind her was the old big doe. They were mulling around, both within 20 yds. That big doe was a shooter for sure. I hope i didn't use up my luck for opening day already. It was neat to watch these two, they caught my scent once in a while and were on full alert but still hung around for 15 mins or so.
  12. My wife does it first thing in the morning. I like the quote" work out in the morning before my brain wakes up and knows what i am up to.
  13. I had the same problem, and it was a combination of things for me. My Draw Length was too short and my grip torqued the bow some. You could try adjusting the rest to the left a little, but if that doesnt change things you need to look at the whole picture.
  14. My wife is really into the insanity, and i have done it some. It is a serious workout and works ALL your muscles. My advice is to take it easy in the beginning or you will be very very sore. Amazing how long and hard a 30 min workout can be. It is a good program though. I went at it too hard the first time i tried. I am a mason and thought i had pretty good triceps and went hard for the tricep dips. In the middle of the night i woke up with so much pain in my arms i thought i was having a heart attack when the one arm started 10 mins before the other, haha. So do what you can and improve every time you do it.
  15. A well tuned bow should shoot both broadheads and field points the same. I have been working on that with mine,my BH were hitting left,so i adjusted my DL and grip and finally the rest to the left and now they hit the same. Broadheads hit different sometimes because it takes longer for the fletching to correct a less than perfect arrow path. You can hit fieldpoints in good groups with a terribly tuned bow. I would try to adjust your rest down just a hair,or raise the nock point up a tad. I practice with both tips to constantly confirm my form and arrow flight.
  16. Broadhead and FP at 40 yds. Very happy with these...
  17. I got mine today and got my DMP for 4F,i am a happy camper. I will fill all my tags if i can,4 deer if it pans out.
  18. Little low at 46yds with a broadhead.
  19. Shooting lower from the tree? That's interesting, most people shoot higher. Is the string making contact with your clothing when you bend maybe?
  20. Hock3y24 is a deer killing machine. I am counting on him to get the harvest post up in the first few days again. I just hope i will be lucky enough to join him on the board early as well.
  21. I am still working on my form,i had some issues with my BH hitting left. After many trials i figured out it was my bow grip. And Draw length. Got those taken care of and now BH hits with FP at 40 yds. I am shooting just about every day,and just have to move a couple stands. I cant hardly wait.. I will focus on the end of october as well, but i also am looking for a freezer doe asap. Deer meat is running low after last years dismal season for me. But that is/was motivation to get everything, including me,working just so.
  22. I still want to move a few of my set ups,and rather sooner then later. I also hope to get a few spots trimmed for my climber...
  23. I live on the other side of Cooperstown. I hope to not encounter those guys running around. There is another buffalo farm just a few miles from my house and i see those when i ride my bike or truck past there, they are pretty intimidating animals. I dont know how the owners think they are gonna catch them now...
  24. Pitbull or any other breed, these scared biters are the worst. I know exactly what you are talking about, you almost dont even know the dog bit you till after the fact. I had a friggin little poodle bite me at a customers house while she was right there. That poodle was lucky, because i would have drop kicked it hard, maybe i should have anyway. The owner never apologized, and that little turd bit hard, though nothing like a pitbull. I agree with people that something should be done about that dog,you cant trust one like that.
  25. Buahahaha, that is great. I need one of those, didn't seem too terribly loud, hahaha.
