  1. That's not entirely true, I let bucks walk all the time but still a meat hunter. I also won't let a big plump doe walk if the opportunity arises.
  2. Stories like that scare me knowing he didn't actually identify his target but still took the shot. That could have been a trespasser going under some brush with rattling antlers attached to their pack. I think the guy that wrote the story is the only example of stupidity in that whole article.
  3. I had my first encounter with a flying squirrel this bow season scared the be-jesus outta me when he flew towards my face while sitting in the tree. Pretty neat watching him glide from tree to tree.
  4. Ended up going to bed at 9:30 after the kiddos went to sleep.
  5. Problem is that is the biggest target that would end up stopping a bigger animal person or not. I would opt some something a little bigger in a life or death survival situation.
  6. Depends on the type of survival, Survival in the big woods with grizzlys and other big critters that wouldn't mind eating me? 12 gauge 870. Survival against individuals that want to kill me? AR platform 308 or 223. Survival in the nature of NY I would want 2 rifles a good 30-06 bolt and a good bolt .22lr both with a ton of ammo. Too many things to go wrong with a semi or pump and the bolt should be more accurate with less use of ammo. I can usually bang off 5 rounds on the bolt in 10 seconds actually hitting my target each time. Maybe a little faster with the .22lr.
  7. I have an 870 20 gauge and never had a failure to eject, I also don't waste anytime racking a new one. I have had them FTE if if slowly bring it back but that is only when I'm unloading the gun anyway and is usually never shot. You might need a new ejector pin.
  8. That gun is going to kick you like a mule x2 with a 12 gauge slug let alone a 3". I would be surprised if you don't dislocate your shoulder. Although I'm not sure of your frame but that would hurt like a bugger.
  9. That makes 2 of us, I haven't sat down and watched a football game in a few years and when all the kneeling started I lost most if not all my respect for those players. I thought it was only like 5 or 6 years since the last time they made the playoffs. I guess it really shows how much I watch. On a side note does Cam Newton remind anyone of Flutie the way he isn't afraid to run the ball unlike most of the other QB's?
  10. I can hear the call now, "I'd like to report shots after sunset. My neighbor just shot.""How do you know who it was?" "Because the shots came from that direction" phone hangs up. How do you know who shot after dark? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. Mine is is a 2007 tribute, I like it but wish I could get 60-70 limbs. I would also like to get a new bow most likely the Bowtech Prodigy.
  12. Pretty sure for 2k you could go out to Ohio or similar area and hunt stateland for a week and bag yourself a 120" deer. I have friends that hunt Ohio because "New York doesn't have any big bucks" and pass on 110"-120" deer out there. In my book it would be much more rewarding bagging one that I hunted vs paid for.
  13. I don't think they would. I think those that hunt sunlight to dark would still do the same, I know I would leave my gun loaded. I have to say that in the past I might have had my gun loaded after sunset. When my phone dies and I don't wear a watch so no way of telling what time it is and I'm not very good at it after the sun goes behind the mountain.
  14. haha yeah neighborhood dogs don't run loose. Neighbor has them but never leaves their pen.
  15. I'm planning on making my first coyotecicle and staking it out behind the house about 70 yards with one of those driveway alarms. Any tips. I'm planning on dumping the carcasses too so that will add a little more incentive. Anyone bait and have any tips?
  16. I sinned last night, I put back strap into the burger bin and is now going to become italian sausage.
  17. So my taxes aren't as good as yours because I want AR's? We all pay state taxes and if we hunt we all buy licenses your license fee doesn't mean anything more than mine or my wife's.
  18. Or J-walk or come to complete 3 second stop at stop signs, don't pull through parking spots, Never sit under the light waiting to to turn red to make a turn.
  19. Man card revoked! Who needs comforts when you're hauling ass?
  20. How much tongue weight is there? With a boat that big you should have around 300lbs. (10% of the weight you're towing) Bunks are definitely the way to go, no pressure points on the hull from the bunks compared to rollers. Not only that way easier and cheaper to maintain.
  21. The sugars in the corn can effect deer in the winter months but I don't think unless they were eating only that for months on end you would see a problem. To be honest I doubt there is an individual that hasn't thrown an old apple core or something of the sort on the ground while hunting. During apple season I usually eat 1 or 2 apples while in stand for the entire deer season and throw the cores onto the ground. Actually had an apple fall out of my bag while putting cameras up and had a fox piss on it and mark it his. Fisher decided he would also see what's up.
