Your top 3 favorite guns that you own
Steuben Jerry replied to rob-c's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Remington 700 in .270 - dubbed my long distance whitetail heart surgery gun. Savage 93 in .17 HMR - because I love my rimfires, and this one shoots the best Remington 870 in 12 ga - had it for years, took my first deer, turkey, and grouse with it. -
Good bear!!

For the tightest groups, it's always best to shoot while in the prone position..

Yessir!! Mandatory on summer shopping trips!

Let's assume that you are 100% correct that Wolc isn't as well versed on the subject as you are. Don't you think it's better to respectfully point out the alternative view without resorting to name calling? I disagree with a lot of people from time to time and usually enjoy a healthy debate. Until the back and forth starts to devolve. The entire country needs a return to civility, and this forum doesn't have to read like a comments section on a Fox news article.

Hey FSW, how about this instead; "I have some information you may want to consider" It comes off a lot better than "Hey, stupid".

Very cool pics! Now that you mention it, I've noticed quite a few more snakes in the yard than prior years. Cut the grass last night and was dodging three different ones with the mower (garters and brown snakes).

After much consideration, I'm going with the 9mm. Cause experience tells me that in a few years, that 45 isn't going to fit in the case any more..

It's my first Vortex. So far so good. I was lusting after the same Viper you have, but went with the lower priced Diamondback.

What glass is that? I have a diamondback 4-16 - looks just like it. Came with the sunshade, right?

Happy Birthday!

how often is the buck you shoot one you have on trailcam?
Steuben Jerry replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Deer Hunting
I have to admit, when I came across that photo on the county website, I was feeling kind of put-off with the fact that I was in fact being "surveiled". I guess you really are on camera everywhere you go. Even my back 40! -

Even crazier is a year later I discovered that same morning I shot him, my county flew over to take updated pics for the GIS system. In the pic, I am tending to the deer and taking pics with my John Deere next to it. Hard to see, but I know what's there. -

I've got trailcam pics of just about every buck that someone else shot on our property. Out of all the bucks taken on our place, I've only shot one that I've had a pic of. Bad luck? I don't know, I'll take the buck and skip the pics, lol. My 2015 buck is in the pics below. Took him opening morning of rifle. On the afternoon sit that day, I pulled a couple of cards on the way out and found the pic of him from the day before. First time I had seen this buck on camera or in person. Ironically, I was going to sit in that same stand the previous day to close out the crossbow season, but I picked another stand. The trailcam pic is 20 yds from the stand I didn't sit in. Was grateful to get a second chance before the craziness of rifle season started. -
I was always interested in hearing his read on things.

Philo beat me to it. I've had both of the above, and have to say they don't compare with Zweigels!

Has Your Scope Ever Made You Bleed?
Steuben Jerry replied to grampy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Had it happen once about 20 years ago with a Rem 870 shooting slugs. Had a shot where I tried to twist around the tree I was standing next to while lining up on an incoming doe. Took the scope right between the eyes, just above the nose. Stunned for a few short seconds, and then realized what had happened as I watched an alarming amount of my blood dripping into the snow. I was kind of numb from the cold, so feeling around my face with my fingers, I was trying to determine if my face was laid open as bad as I expected. I started walking back to the truck, using handfuls of snow to press against what I was sure was half my face split open. I walked about a half mile to the truck, and when I got there I looked at my face for the first time in the sideview mirror - WTF, I barely had an inch long cut, which had pretty much stopped bleeding by then. No, I didn't hit the doe, and yes, I got my chops busted for at least a day for giving up the afternoon primetime for my boo-boo! -
Not bad. Drinks light for an IPA. I'd get it again.
