  1. I like the concept of the bill but IF it should pass it is going to complicate things for gun owners tremendously. One of the bill sponsors was interviewed the other day: A gun owner crossing any state line WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ABIDING BY THE CCW LAWS IN THE STATE(s) that he or she enters. Cumo & others will still be able to pass laws that will hinder or make impossible the ability to carry from one state to another. Most of us have a hard time interpreting our laws and am sure some other states would be quite difficult also. I support it but wonder about the consequences.
  2. I am not a waterfowl hunter but I think your son did a excellent job on the video.....and you should be proud.
  3. Truer words were never spoken (written)
  4. Translation please The "wife" was banging the "bus driver" who went to the restaurant where she worked in the kitchen and got killed by the "husband"
  5. Story quote,,,,,,,"but he was standing twenty yards away with his head tipped back. I never turned so fast and let four quick ones ring out. Down he went.." Precisely why I am not a fan of gun hunting. Good story for him because he lived up to his dying father's last words but in reality it is just another "lucky gun hunter" story.
  6. Nice looking pup....looks like he is glad to be out of Kentucky
  7. Had to take a couple of days off so I decided to go out this afternoon. Set up in the woods on a travel route between bedding areas and feeding area out of the 25 mph winds and didn't see a thing again. Sounds like tomorrow will be a wash out with the rain & winds so may wait til the cold weather hits.
  8. No scouting trip is a "waste of time" You have to look at it as an opportunity to get a feel for whether there are deer there or not and where they are traveling. Sign or no sign I always look at it as a way to see new country and sometimes you get lucky and can be surprised by what you find.
  9. I learned a long time ago to not let it bother you. It is not uncommon to have someone walk in once where you have been hunting all year and shoot one. Not an enjoyable experience but unfortunately it is part of the game. I have even had my own brother in law do it.
  10. Makes two of us but I would like to shoot a deer first. Can't hunt day & night and still keep your sense of humor. And I believe you still need to do some recovering. Good Luck With That
  11. All the above replies...are correct.... EVERYBODY GETS A TROPHY
  12. I wouldn't count on it..... I have hunted every single day since the 20th in three different regions 1 to 2 sets a day plus covered a few miles and have yet to see a deer. A total of 39 hrs. I did see two sneak out of the woods tonight as I was headed out after dark(5:00 pm) but have seen no sign or movement in places where they normally travel. This is the longest I have ever gone without at least seeing one. I am taking a couple of days off for a attitude adjustment, and honey do list. I hope that when I get back out things have changed. If I sit out there long enough maybe one will walk by. Good Luck.
  13. Not True: Possession and Use of Rifles for Hunting Furbearers To determine whether you may use a rifle to hunt furbearers, answer the following questions: Is any deer season open in the location you wish to hunt (including archery, muzzleloading, regular, late, and Deer Management Focus Area)? If NO, you may use any caliber rimfire or centerfire rifle for hunting furbearers. If YES, can deer be hunted with rifles in that location during the regular (firearms) deer season? If YES, you may use any caliber rimfire or centerfire rifle for hunting furbearers during any open deer season. If NO, you may only possess afield rimfire rifles .22-caliber or smaller, or centerfire rifles less than .22-caliber (e.g., .204, .17) during any open deer season. Once all deer seasons are closed, the restriction ends, except: You may never possess a rifle afield in Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. In the Northern Zone, it is illegal to carry a rifle larger than .22-caliber rimfire (or .22-caliber or larger centerfire rifles) at any time if accompanied by a dog, except when coyote hunting. It only applies to counties that do not allow deer hunting with rifles: you may not possess a centerfire rifle afield, during the day or night, to hunt wildlife, including furbearers in any county or portion of a county where deer hunting with rifles is prohibited during the regular deer season.
  14. Then You will get a big kick out of this...enjoy https://www.nyantler-outdoors.com/2017-new-york-whitetails.html
  15. I have always had good luck with Dell but regardless of what you buy be prepared to be frustrated with Windows 10. Things ain't what hey used to be
  16. Sounds like the wife should be doing all the thinking...or maybe she is
  17. That's worse than me. I got out 30 times during bow but saw quite a few deer. 75 total 23 where bucks for sure but either they were to far away or real small. I have had some rough gun seasons but have never gone this long without seeing one. What really is messing things up here is all the "hunters" out & about. They are hunkering down and not moving unless they have to or are pushed to. What frustrates me the most is I am not seeing much sign either. I hope to get it figured out but they may win this year which means more for next year I guess.
  18. Congrats to all that have filled some tags. With one week gone and 24 1/2 hrs. hunting already I have yet to SEE a deer. Sure hope things pick up soon. Not shooting is one thing but not seeing any or seeing much sign is another. I know there are some left out there I just have to find them.
