Last time I looked Hunting and Fishing regulations were also. I got your point. It is perfectly all right to bend the hunting regulations to fit your need. I am personally not trying to crucify you or make you out to be some kind of monster as you put it. Seems you are missing my point which was: If you choose to justify your actions with yourself that is fine but someday you COULD get a ticket for those actions. If it works for you have at it.

Post card of a day.. Happy Birthday

I would rather have my head in the "sand " than where yours is. When you play a sport or a simple board game there are rules to be followed and consequences if the rules are not followed. Like them or not they are not meant to be changed by the players to help the participant(s) win or enjoy the game more. Hunting is no different.

I am not telling you anything....If you choose to break the law and be unethical that is entirely up to you. If you are comfortable with it I could care less. I have to look at my mirror in the morning not yours.

Tell that to the conservation officer while he is writing the ticket.

Town of Bolton Warren County Rescue and Recovery: On Dec. 16 at approximately 4 p.m., Forest Ranger Evan Donegan responded to a call from Warren County 911 reporting two people had fallen through the ice on Edgecomb Pond in the town of Bolton. The Bolton Fire Department was just getting one subject into the ambulance for treatment when Ranger Donegan arrived. He quickly donned a cold water rescue suit and assisted the Warren County dive team to shuttle equipment across the pond to where the underwater search was initiated. Approximately 50 minutes after the subject had submerged, a diver located the man's body in approximately 12 feet of water. The subject was brought to shore in a sled by Ranger Donegan and Bolton Ambulance. The body was released to the county coroner and the State Police are continuing their investigation. DEC reminds ice anglers to use caution and commonsense as ice fishing season begins across much of New York State. Four inches or more of solid ice is considered to be safe for anglers accessing ice on foot. Ice anglers should note that ice thickness can vary on every body of water and even on the same body of water. For more information on ice fishing, visit DEC's webpage.

My brother in law subscribes and passes it on. Not impressed

I have had the same experience. I know they are stealing the "bait" from one spot but have yet to catch them on camera. The only ones I have got on cam had a very surprised look on their face as if hey stumbled into them. Very smart and elusive critter.

Might want to check and make sure you bought the correct amperage switch. It is not uncommon to find switches that look the same in 15 or 20 amp. configurations.
-
Might also want to see if you can get the other one out, replace them both, and grease it.
-
As I said before I would punch it out. A propane torch should get it hot enough to come out. If you soak it in this for a 1/2 hr. or so, heat it, and can't punch it out something else is going on. A shear pin should not come out hard.
-
I personally would not drill. If the hole is not aligned properly you will be drilling into the rake shaft which may explain the hard drilling since the shaft is hardened. The hole has to be aligned to get the old pin out if is rusted or bent and to get the new one in. This is on a Ariens but is the same principal on most.
-
More than likely this....Heat with a propane torch & pound out with a drift pin smaller then the hole diameter. When it is reassembled with the new pin grease the hell out of it. There should be grease fittings on the shaft. This is important or you will be replacing the gear box which is pretty expensive.

Gun owners are the overwhelming majority in the state. During the last election they didn't turn out. I would hope that people have had enough of Cuomo's crap and turn out to vote. We are overdue for a "upstate" Governor and one can only hope it happens.

That show was the beginning of the anti-hunting and anti-gun movement. Remember it well.

what would the old hunter in you tell the young hunter you were

Marry a wife or a husband with a GOOD job so you can take more time off for hunting and not worry about the bills. -
I always think about it but this year I will be a "caregiver" for I am not sure how long. Wife is having surgery tomorrow and not sure how long she will be out of commission. So for now I will be chief cook, bottle washer, and whatever else comes along

One of my favorites. I have a Browning A-bolt in .223. Deadly accurate right out of the box.
-
No way unless you are one hell of a shot and can make consistent head shots...The minimum to consider using should be a .22 mag with v-max bullets with shots a hundred yds. or less. You would be better off using a shotgun with 3"mags. than a .22 rifle

Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb will be announcing his candidacy for Governor this morning. If we ever needed to get behind a candidate this is the one Lets finally put Cuomo where he belongs http://assembly.state.ny.us/mem/Brian-M-Kolb

Steuben Jerry What a way to end my FINAL gun hunting season. Uh-oh Steve, dare I ask why you're calling it your final gun season? While the last few “gun” seasons have not been that great this year was the worst. With the gun season being 23 days long I hunted 18 of those days. I spent just under 59 hrs. hunting and did not see a single deer. In contrast I bow hunted 23 days for just under 52 hrs. and saw a total of 75 deer. Twenty-three bucks (I am sure a couple were ones I saw more than once) twenty-eight doe, and twenty-four I could not tell. Bow hunting for me has always been a passion and gun hunting has pretty much been ho hum. The primary reason I have kept gun hunting was to provide companionship and assistance for my father. Since he has little or no interest anymore my interest has dwindled considerably. In years past I would make a harvest with the bow and spend gun season pretty much trophy hunting. That kept me going but it didn’t take long to figure out that even if I shot one it would more than likely have nothing to do with my skill as a hunter. It could be just as simple matter of another hunter spooked it out of his area and into mine. In the three wmu’s I hunt the pattern is pretty much the same. Once gun season opens they go strictly nocturnal and you can go a long time without seeing one in the daytime. Also I have other interests like trapping and predator hunting which gun season interferes with. To me I would much rather put my efforts into getting one with the bow and spend the gun season doing something more productive and enjoyable. If I don’t have one by gun season…OH WELL. Can’t be worse than going bow and gun season and not getting one. The other thing that turns me off about gun is sitting in the woods waiting for it to get light and shots are heard well before legal shooting; or heading out of the woods after sunset and hearing shots WELL after the legal time. Also sitting in the woods hearing the ones that shoot 4-5 times and in some cases reloading and shooting some more. You know that deer has either been missed or is wounded and may or may not be recovered. It probably happens during bow also but you can’t hear it. I am also a little bit tired of picking up water bottles, food wrappers, beer cans etc. while doing some scouting or still hunting. Happens during bow to but not near as much. I could go on and on but I just wanted to give an answer that you will hopefully understand. I get no satisfaction from shooting one with a gun unless it is a trophy. It’s like bang, flop, gut, and drag. You do the same with bow but I consider any deer shot with a bow a trophy. I may still go out from time to time during gun but it is not my passion. You asked That is it in a nut shell
