  1. Not yet.... but between Cumo, and the State Police it won't be long before they tell you how many but also what kind you can own.
  2. HOT OFF THE PRESS NYSP SAFE Act Update 3-11-2016 Effective March 11, 2016 we have been advised by the New York State Police Troop L Gun Investigation Unit that their official determinations have now been made on a number of items and configurations of semi-automatic rifles under the SAFE Act. We have requested they provide a formal notification in writing which we expect to see in the next 30 days. We are working with our attorneys as well as attorneys representing some of the component manufacturers to explore legal challenge options. Below is a summary of what we have been advised: - Any “featureless” configuration on an AR or AK style receiver is NOT compliant. This includes: the Spur, the Thordsen FRS, the Monsterman, the Boar and all other similar items where the hand is below the action of the rifle. - “Featureless” rifles including the Mini 14, Saiga Sporter, Ruger 10/22, Ares SCR, etc. where the hand is behind the action of the rifle ARE compliant. - The AR Mag-Lock mechanism which allows removal of the magazine when the action is open is NOT compliant. - The DS-15 FX series fixed magazine receiver and rifles which are manufactured as a “fixed magazine” ARE compliant. This information is subject to change and clarification. No other clarifications have been issued at this time leaving some products still in the grey area. As always, we are not attorneys and do not offer legal advice, we are only trying to pass along information as it becomes available to us. 3. I for one could care less what they think of us. Regardless of what they think they are always there with their hands out looking for us to support them. Sad part is we always do when we don't even take care of our own people. screw em
  4. Definitely a beautiful mount...Congratulations
  5. This one is also available through the DEC free of charge http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/ask.pdf
  6. As sad is it is...regardless of what the voters want I really believe the republican party is going to find a way to stick it to him and make sure he doesn't get the nomination. They are scared to death of him and the change that he might bring. Mark it down...They will screw him somehow. Just hope they are prepared for the aftermath of the people supporting Trump if it happens.
  7. I would definitely pat them down if they are dripping wet. The wetter it is the longer it will take to dry. Not sure what kind of dehydrator you have but you shouldn't have to turn it off to remove the trays. One thing you will want to do is rotate the trays every couple of hrs. especially if it is one of the round tray type. Rotate them by moving the top tray to the bottom, the bottom to the middle, and the middle to the top, etc. This will give you a more consistent drying throughout the batch. Hope this helps!!
  8. It will never happen...... but here is my choice. I am afraid of what our choices are going to be.
  9. There is a ton of work that goes into any mount. First they have to take measurements of the head or whatever when it comes in so they can match the form to the animal. Then they have to skin & flesh the cape. Part of doing the cape consists of turning and fleshing the ears, trimming around the nose, eyes, and splitting the lips. Once that is complete the hide has to be pickled or tanned which can take some time. Most taxidermist will order the form and once the formed has arrived they will usually have to do some finishing to the form so the cape will fit properly, then they will set the horns, ears, and the eyes. This process usually involves a type of bonding material that has to dry before proceeding. Once they have got that far and the hide is ready to be put on the form it will be glued and fitted on the form and is usually pinned to stay in place while drying. Keep in mind pinning is required around the antlers, eyes, mouth, and usually where the ears are placed. Once that is complete they have to sew the incision up that was made to get the cape off of the animal and any holes/or any other damage that may have occurred. Once every thing is done and left to dry for 2-3 days they will do any touch ups necessary to make the eyes, nose, and eyes to be as life like as possible. It is a long process so be patient and don't be surprised if they can't give a date when it will be ready. A lot depends on their suppliers, drying times, touch up times, and time availability to work on a particular mount.
  10. Want a nightmare....Heard on one of news channels today Cumo plans on making a run for president in 2020 and is already beginning to organize his supporters and lining up his donors.
  11. I haven't seen a total of 28 in the last four years!!!!
  12. Four Season Whitetails quote: "Maybe even a short hound season for deer even though I would not own any deer hounds" Trust me...the last thing you would want to see in NY state is a hound season for deer. I know it is popular in the south but houndsmen in NY are having a tough time as it is and hunting deer with dogs would more than likely end hound hunting for everyone in NY.
  13. Took it...where does it go?? Hopefully to the DEC but I doubt it.
  14. Nice shooting....Has to be about $1000 in illuminated knocks
  15. 1) Ask someone a question and when they answer "I don't know"... Say Who should I ask? 2) You can't fix stupid
  16. Looks like it could be one of Hillary's campaign staff looking for leads Cool Pic!
  17. Saw a program the other night in Alaska where they actually walk out into the ocean and get buckets of salt water. They took the salt and boiled it down until all that was left was the salt. They claimed they used that for a preservative for just about everything but if it was me I would probably go for the dry ice...it will last for days especially in these temperatures.

    wtf snow!!!

Couldn't say I enjoy shoveling/snow blowing. We got a little over a foot yesterday (2/16) and while it was a lot of work I am not complaining...first time I have to do any serious shoveling or snow blowing this season. First time I have used the snow blower this season and haven't even put the plow on the ATV yet. No comparison to last year when I was shoveling/snow blowing just about every day!! We still have to get through March and I have seen some terrible storms in that month. Just have to cross our fingers. I would still rather blow it than mow it
  19. Not sure which primos it was...One of the cheap ones. I couldn't understand why they would do it like that either. Sounds like a real pain to me. He had decent camera stolen off the land he hunts so his friends got him a couples cheapos in case he gets ripped off again.
  20. What fries me is the Media...They seem to provoke them with their "loaded" questions. "Mr. Trump you said Jeb Bush was or did this or that" "can you please explain"? That sets Bush off...Trump fires back an on & on & on. I think they should quit asking loaded questions and stick to the issues. I also wish Ben Carson would rise up in numbers and make a showing....he seems to have a pretty good outlook and a fresh way of looking at things. Him not being a career politician is also a plus. Just my opinion.
  21. Just did one last week for my brother-in-law who received one as a gift. Step one was to insert a sd card into the camera and power up camera. Step two was to turn camera off and remove sd card. Step three was to insert the sd card in to a port on the COMPUTER. Once the sd card was inserted.... a screen automatically popped up with the time/date stamp. There was a option to change it but there was no need because the info was correct. Hit ok, closed the program, and put it in the camera. Weird way of doing it but it did work. Hope it helps
