Couldn't say I enjoy shoveling/snow blowing. We got a little over a foot yesterday (2/16) and while it was a lot of work I am not complaining...first time I have to do any serious shoveling or snow blowing this season. First time I have used the snow blower this season and haven't even put the plow on the ATV yet. No comparison to last year when I was shoveling/snow blowing just about every day!! We still have to get through March and I have seen some terrible storms in that month. Just have to cross our fingers. I would still rather blow it than mow it

Not sure which primos it was...One of the cheap ones. I couldn't understand why they would do it like that either. Sounds like a real pain to me. He had decent camera stolen off the land he hunts so his friends got him a couples cheapos in case he gets ripped off again.

Republican Debate
Steve D replied to Lever action's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
What fries me is the Media...They seem to provoke them with their "loaded" questions. "Mr. Trump you said Jeb Bush was or did this or that" "can you please explain"? That sets Bush off...Trump fires back an on & on & on. I think they should quit asking loaded questions and stick to the issues. I also wish Ben Carson would rise up in numbers and make a showing....he seems to have a pretty good outlook and a fresh way of looking at things. Him not being a career politician is also a plus. Just my opinion. -
Just did one last week for my brother-in-law who received one as a gift. Step one was to insert a sd card into the camera and power up camera. Step two was to turn camera off and remove sd card. Step three was to insert the sd card in to a port on the COMPUTER. Once the sd card was inserted.... a screen automatically popped up with the time/date stamp. There was a option to change it but there was no need because the info was correct. Hit ok, closed the program, and put it in the camera. Weird way of doing it but it did work. Hope it helps

Vermont is indeed the closest. As with the other four states where it is allowed there is a resident requirement. -

growalot I to have watched a number of friends & family go through the process wishing they had some control over the outcome and it is very painful to watch. For me personally it is about the quality of life and when that is taken away in addition to being a burden to my loved ones I would like to be able to make the choice. -

I don't know the exact number but the last time I checked it was in the neighborhood of 1425 surveyed. No reason was given but they were allowed to submit comments and it looked like a good percentage voted that way because of their beliefs. I don't think it was a very wide spread survey and it would not surprise me if they only surveyed one group of people but who knows. -

A local news station ran a un-official survey and 82% were against it, 14% were for it, and the remaining were undecided -
Hope I an not opening a can of worms here but I hope there are others like me that would support this bill and will contact your representatives. I for one have seen to many people if given the opportunity would choose to end it rather than spend months and months being kept alive with drugs and pain killers when the outcome is inevitable. https://legiscan.com/NY/text/A02129/id/1262059

4 Reasons For A Deer Hunter To Be A Grouse Hunter
Steve D replied to Mr VJP's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I personally would rather grouse hunt than deer hunt if there is a population. In this area you could walk all day or even days & not see or hear a grouse. Used to get into them years ago in the Tug Hill & Watertown areas but hunting them around here is a complete waste. It is a shame to because it is about the only "wild" game the wife will eat. -

What's on Your (not hunting or fishing related) Bucket List?
Steve D replied to wildcat junkie's topic in General Chit Chat
God help him if you do think about it -
Great call in my opinion...Nice part about it ...it has everything in one call, sounds realistic, and has adjustable sounds. No need to carry a grunt call, bleat can etc. Only one I use any more Beautiful Buck by the way!!!!!!!!

Picking a "coyote gun" should depend on when and where you plan to use it and why you are hunting. If hunting to kill them any caliber will do but if hunting to try to salvage the fur you have to be more particular. I personally use a .22 mag semi auto. with the Hornady or Remington V-max rounds. or 12 gauge with # 4 copper buffed 3" mags if hunting at night. The .22 mag will perform out to 125 yards plus, will kill a fox or coyote, without much fur damage, and without having to track them long distances. The 12 gauge I use for close up calling say 45 yards or so. The nice part about the .22 mag is I can use it day or night with good results. I have used a .223 during the day and could use it at night but my concern is the .223 traveling father than I would like it to if I miss. I find with the .223 there is quite a bit more fur damage especially on a fox. Don't get me wrong...I like the .223 but feel a lot more comfortable shooting in the daytime so I can see what is beyond my "target" I choose the semi-auto in the case a quick follow-up shot is needed which will happen quite often. The bad part about the .22 mag is because of the popularity of the "new .17's" in all type of configurations, and the.204 has made it quite difficult to find ammunition for the .22 mag especially in the v-max rounds. Before choosing a rifle I would consider when & where you are going to hunt. There are also some nice over & under rifle/shotgun combinations out there...but then you are pretty much limited to one shot. So in a nut shell I have three that I use , the .22 mag, .223, and 12 gauge shotgun. To each their own I guess not one size fits all.

How many guys sell skins green vs tanned?
Steve D replied to Hookhunter20's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I usually sell mine green at a auction primarily because you only receive $2-$5.00 more per pelt if they are put up right. If they are fleshed & stretched and aren't the way a buyer wants them you will get less for them anyway. Some buyers prefer to buy them green so they can put them up they way they want them. With prices the way they are it just isn't worth the effort in my opinion. If they are skinned correctly most buyers will give you a fair price but if they are not skinned correctly you can expect to get a lot less. Rockland County Trappers Assoc. may be able to give you some info. on local buyers or if they have fur auctions. The contact info is: Brandon Kafka @854-558-5003 or [email protected]- 4 replies

That is exactly why I said 99.9%...A couple years ago I had 2 come in from behind balls out. They crossed the road behind me not 5 yards from where my truck was parked. When I first saw them I was sure it was two German Shepherds I had called from a nearby house. When I realized they were coyotes I was able to get one because I was carrying the shotgun but the other one couldn't get out of there fast enough. I have had a few come in pretty fast but that is the only time I had them come in down wind from behind. They will keep you on your toes that is for sure!
-
The most important thing to remember that 99.9% of the time they will approach from the downwind side or try to get downwind of the side the call is coming from.

Times have changed and everyone is on the go with their own agenda. What gets me is when you do see a family together each one has their own phone and is looking at that rather than interacting with each other. They set in the same house and text each other rather than get up and go to another room to have a actual conversation. We are definitely in a sad state of affairs and I don't see it getting any better.

Night time .22 mag semi-auto with .32 grain V-max or 12 gauge shotgun with 3"mag copper buffed 4's. Daytime same guns or may use the .223 semi with Barnes 36 grain Varmint grenades. Depending on conditions and location Scopes are 1 1/2-6x40 with a lit red dot on the .22 mag and 3-9 by 40 on the .223. Lights are UniqueFire 802 in red. 1 for shining and one mounted on the gun for shooting. About $20.00 on Amazon.

The market and prices have been declining the last few years because of the sanctions put on Russia and China's slowing economy. Russia's economy sucks now also and no one can afford to buy fur coats etc. I don't know about you but I would much rather have lower gas prices than higher fur prices. Seems like the only time prices are up is when our economy is in rough shape.

Dom If you are looking for used do a search on "craigslist". You have the option of picking the listings closest to you and can search other cities as well. Some times you can come across a decent deal.
