  1. Guys compound are center shot n w proper spine recover quickly hence the smaller vanes n less offset on them. Recurves are wood risers. They don't come in n are normally off center of the string. Now you have solid wood to the side n you shoot off the wooden shelf so essentially you're shooting off a corner. Most guys put a toothpick or matchstick under the sideplate which is on the side wall to help w torque n such so now we're even more side of center. The arrows are shot from bow slightly sideways n need the fletch to help quickly stabilize it n often a little more is better as seen when stickbow guys shoot helical or heavy offset feathers. Add a broadhead n you really need the stability. I've always shot feathers even from compounds but there's a big difference in the two
  2. Guys don't understand shelf shooting. The bow isn't even Centershot n needs the fletch to recover. You need feathers to be forgiving of the shelf
  3. We use dry fly spray. Works decent. I had socks in a sense for the individual arrows but don't too often go out when it's pouring. If so just put my body or something over em to keep em dryer, the truck heat puffs em back up. Compound shooters which aren't shooting from the shelf can shoot Blazers n I've seen no dif at close to mid range. Feathers have been on my arrows since I was a kid n Id not change. Good luck this weekend. Break that new Widow in!
  4. He has no respect for you or your property why would you not take it?
  5. Stingers in the recurves jackhammers for the compounds
  6. Heavy arrows will help. To be honest all the new fangled silencers help but imo nothing beats cat whiskers
  7. Imo the deer are in a pattern. Why change that when the easiest deer of the year are at hand? Id not use anything
  8. Thanks bud Theres more I just can't remember them all
  9. Bighorn recurve grand slam supreme, black widow PSA, too many compounds to remember but off the top an Elite answer, Mathews monster, mathews 3D vapor, brown bear by bear, alpine n high country bows, can't remember model, Darton Maverick,Stemmler sting, Hoyt pro hunter, hoyt that Chuck adams used, cant remember model, XI Myles Keller version, martin warthog, Bowtech patriot, there's more but it's a bunch, a hatfield flintlock, bunch of TC caplocks, a rem 700 ML, a TC omega inline, a Rem 700 hundred .270, .300 win mag Sako, Rem 700 .243, Rem SP 10, Rem 11-87. Rem 870, HR single shot.
  10. You don't need to be a butcher. Learning to first just skin than quarter deer is a start. If time is short just throw it in refrigerator. Works great when it warm n late. Now this is where I differ from most guys. After it sits in the refrigerator a few days (except the loin n tenderloins) I take cuts off in pieces. Why on earth would I wanna wrap little chops or steaks in a bunch of packages? Only costing me time n money. I put the chunks in n when I'm ready to eat my steaks or whatever are taken from the block. Pretty simple. Also saves meat. If it freezer burns cut off bad section n you have the rest perfect. Nice evenly spread out meat looks great but we're not trying to win artistic awards or marketing for sale. I shoot lots of deer n I can normally do the whole thing on a warm deer, (hides are stickier cold) from my truck, to freezer (not the best choice) if I so chose, mess cleaned up, stuff away in under an hour. It's minimal time the way I do it n if you want breakfast sausage bring a chunk of the meat to a butcher
  11. Bud I was by no means trying to sway you from your desires. Gadgets are fun n during the time we don't or can't hunt, tinkering w them they can add enjoyment. Don't know how experienced you are or aren't. Some people think a magic scent, sight, etc etc will change their luck. Most times it won't. We gotta learn to hunt n from there things can help. All I was trying to say. No apology needed I talk blunt, been misunderstood before. It's hard to understand where someone is coming from in only words but I wasn't dising you or your post
  12. Find out what he's eating n set up w wind in your favor

    Pins

My pin adjusts but I normally have em set out to 60 or 70. Just redid bow n I'm now resighted out to 50 due to lack of time. Something very cool bout watching arrows fly long distance n hit a target. For hunting I leave my pin close
  14. You have scoutlook, it tells wind direction for you so does just being in the area but scoutlook pans ahead. Pretty cool app. Hear me out, it's great to wanna buy stuff to help. Lots of people where I live/hunt are too set to change, maybe I am too but you should understand it's not real possible to buy a deer. You gotta hunt them n hopefully either you're figuring it out or already understand how n just want an edge.
  15. I'm old school n been doing this a long time. I don't buy new stuff cause it's imo mostly marketing I did however see some decent answers. Bout a year ago a friend bout me a Glens deer handle to help drag em out. Pretty sure Id buy another if Iost that one. Pretty handy device
  16. Buck master try n elite. Very easy to draw bows. I have really bad shoulders too n Im comfortable w them. Try one n see if it helps
  17. Drawing parellel to ground n than bending is a great way to achieve proper form. Bending first can be done but it takes practice n the practice may be more effective w another knowledgeable archer watching you
  18. I don't drag all that much n also never go out of my way except the very last little bit around my tree. Want to ensure good angles so I make a slight circle around my stand. Now something to think about. It's best used during the walk stage when does coming into estrous are at a minimum n buck competition at the highest. Also I use the scent very sparingly, I want the buck to sorta smell it so he keeps looking n moving. If you've ever seen a bird dog or beagle first hit a scent they can't exactly find they're very animated n concentrate to find the source. Nothing else matters to them n they aren't looking for danger. It's all the slight scent that gets em this way. Too much scent n especially the does blow up. That puts other deer on alert
  19. Nice looking dog n great painting! I'm sorry for your loss of Stickers, I myself have put many dogs down way too early n it stinks every time so I feel for you. Good luck w the pup!
