  1. Nice! Blew through her like a hot knife through butter. Congrats.
  2. IMO, speed is way over-rated. I've killed plenty of critters with old vertical recurves and compounds that were rather slow (like 200fps) or less. My current Xbow runs about 330-332 fps. Is it the fastest? No. But, it's very well built, accurate and has been without issue. It kills just fine. When you increase the speed, you then may have other considerations to deal with (such as noise, potential accuracy issues, increased stress and wear-out of strings, cams or cables, etc.).
  3. A good, well manufactured compound crossbow is fast, handy and not a maintenance problem... IMO.
  4. I've got some from the 60's and 70's.
  5. I've got some Day One Camo fleece bibs... been great for several years.
  6. Welcome... I'm fairly new here also. Nice group.
  7. I also always bring a back-up. Ya just never know what may happen.
  8. The weed seeds were likely in the soil. As soon as it's opened up to light, moisture, etc. they germinate. Mowing before new seed matures will help. If not, the seed will mature, fall to the soil and germinate again (probably for next year's crop). It becomes a tough cycle. Post emergent, foliar contact herbicides applied after weed seed germination but before planting / germination of the intended crop may help but, obviously, timing is critical. Grassy weeds and sedges can be very difficult to manage.
  9. I love wool! My go to warm coat is a Beaglewear (they are out of business though).
  10. Congrats. I too love SS rifles. If I was told tomorrow that all hunting can only be with SS weapons, I'd be fine with that.
  11. Concur^^^. RAP is not near the gun that the Tikka is.
  12. No problem here... don't drink coffee and never been to a Starbucks!
  13. I've been known to bring reading material to pass the time. Also, have your cell phone (or other contact device) handy for emergency use. BTW, loved the above tip about a "grappling" hook. I have been known to drop gloves etc. from time to time.
  14. What, gravity is not your friend?
  15. Nice buck. He doesn't look that old to me... maybe 3+?
  16. Check out Schnees out of Bozeman Montana. I've had some for twenty years. Love them.
  17. Note the three critical words in the beginning... Democratic State Legislature. Bingo. Kookyfornia is a lost cause. NYS may be not far behind. It's a pity because NYS is a beautiful place.
  18. This ^^^. I hunt as often as I can... regardless.
  19. Therein lies the problem. Quit watching the dumb, edited to the hilt, shows. LOL
  20. You should be proud... it's a beautiful specimen.
