DEC 11 is the last day of late ML
-
What law would they change and why?
-
Texas heart shots, Jesus bullets and bolts, uncontrolled "aging" of meat....wow
-
This late? Its only the 2nd week of gun season lol

Sure can, as the rifle no longer has a detachable mag, and does not qualify as an assault rifle. You dont have to register it in any way.
-
If you are still hunting or stalking correctly, you are most likely to be shooting at a deer standing still or bedded down.
-
Its not a gray area, the definition is referenced in other areas of NY state law. Section 265.00 subdivision 24.25,26 to read as follows 24. "DETACHABLE MAGAZINE" means any ammunition feeding device, the function of which is to deliver one or more ammunition cartridges into the firing chamber, which can be removed from the firearm without the use of any tool, including a bullet or ammunition cartridge.

You would be wrong. Many AR platform rifles will shoot right along with any bolt action out there. Ive seen them, shot them, etc. Not just going off of whats posted in internet forums etc. It all depends on how you build them.
-
The mag is still detachable with a Mag lock, you just have to break open the upper. It also makes it so that you can put any accessories you want on the rifle. Ive handled and fired many of them with a crap load of accessories and they are very light if you use the right parts.
-
Theres nothing blurry about the law really. It states what is considered an assault weapon. We arent talking shotguns here btw. https://safeact.ny.gov/sites/default/files/assets/documents/Shotgunsbannedfeatures.pdf

When you disassemble a gun, it means it makes it inoperable. When you split the lower and upper, its inoperable. I have shot them and have no idea why you are so against them. If you practice, mag changes actually dont take long at all. You can throw whatever accessories you want on them to boot.
-
Those are only banned on a semi auto with a detachable mag.

Not a ton of shots around here yet. One of the guys dropped a doe and a good 6 that I have no pictures of on the other farm. Nothing here yet. I'm hunting an escape route and funnel but the guys that usually still hunt and push deer up this way aren't here today.

In my stand ready to go. Saw more trucks up at the state land than I ever have when I went by. Surprisingly no shots yet. Good luck everyone! Be safe and shoot straight!

I'll hunt as its under 40 mph. Even then if it's gusts that speed I'll be out there. This year I saw mature bucks moving just like normal in high winds. Plenty of other deer too. I like to stalk and still hunt in the wind as it helps mask my sounds and movements a bit.

question on tree stand safety harnesses
WNYBuckHunter replied to goosifer's topic in General Hunting
Some stands I have life lines in, but others I use tree straps. I leave my straps in the tree and check them each time I use them. They go out the first hunt from the stand and then all are collected at the end of the season. We have so many stands that we just havent ponied up the money to do life lines in all of them yet. -

What changes happen after opening day of regular deer season?
WNYBuckHunter replied to Rockspek's topic in Deer Hunting
In our area it all depends. If they feel pressure, they become scarce during the day, but that just means its time to adjust how you hunt. When the pressure is kept off of our place, the deer tend to move in from surrounding areas that are pressured. -

You probably arent hunting the right areas for bucks. They arent just does with antlers, they behave differently, use different travel routes, bed in different locations. You can just sit in the same areas that you see does in and hope that a buck comes through in the rut, or you can do your homework, scout and put yourself in the right place to kill a buck.
