  1. sz is a 9 day not 7 following the close of regular,,, bow / muzell late season xbow is fine as long as you have muzell tag
  2. all law enforcement is spread thin as far as low numbers
  3. with current temps as long as its not in direct sunlight all day i would say no need for ice,,,,,
  4. ive seed deer hit them hard late season during cold and snow as they stay green
  5. yeah getting help is real hard to find since you obviously dont want it if you can tell the diffrence between ground from front legs vs back legs in say chillie or other dish i call bs
  6. clover seed can stay on the ground for long time its a hard seed and also maybe there was some root left
  7. Why would you leave the font quarter/legs that is a waste nothing wrong with shoulder meat, makes good ground meat or slow cooker stew meat,,,, thats just a waste, what your reasoning for not using it
  8. from what ive been finding the bait fish are not stacking up like normal and there hasn't been any real hot bites just pick one here and there, not like last yr with getting limits in ten minutes
  9. well your moving when rattling i would guess and drawing there attention right towards you/source of sound so i would say yes
  10. not if you are perfectlty still, but if you dont have a good back ground and they pick up you moving
  11. my land /plots are full of rocks and shale you may want to get a harrow drag instead of a tiller rocks are rough on tiller get soil test and go from there, low ph go with rye or wheat, or add lime, brassica mix grows fine for me, its not the rocks that dictate what you grow its ph
  12. justified shooting.... they will protest anything just because ,,,, thank god the police went home safe
  13. same time every year, can be surpressed by warm weather etc but if you look the does are bred, or at least a majority are bred the same time every year, and dosnt matter if u see it or dont it happens,,,,and being in the right spot matters alot on a 90 acre property one day i saw 8 diffrent bucks another guy same day same property saw nothing
  14. one thing i would point out u say its like adk's woods nothing is like adk's they rate snowfall in feet up there and you can go miles upon miles with out seeing a road and deer numbers are low and are controlled by winters not hunters...it sounds to me that its not a price issue but more that theres not farm ag and hedge rows.....if you dont like the property or its not your style then pass, and as far as a shed as a deer camp ,,,,that to me is great but if u want water and electric may not be your cup of tea
  15. lots of woods , thats a plus you make your 60 more appealing to the deer and you can pull them in....
  16. price seems right for finger lakes area, once you get you can clear cut small areas acre or less, this will give you diversity and bedding plus food, do it during the winter and u will be suprised how many deer show up, plus you can set it up the way you want yes it will be much diffrent then hunting farm land but you may also find all day deer movement. theres plus and neg. to bigger woods hunting
  17. shoot what makes you happy as long as its legal, I know guys that hunt hard on public and shoot good bucks, theres guys in the adk's that track deer for miles and kill big bucks, theres guys that shoot the 1st buck they see...If you put your time and effort in theres good bucks to be found, and plenty of deer....I hear guys complain about mismanagement but some of those guys sit in the same spot every year if you dont like what your seeing for deer change it up.....
  18. winter rye kinda looks like grass blades are a lil wider,,, but when it first few inches looks like grass for sure, also tully agway has plot seed,,,
  19. All i can say is my private is close to a lot of State land and im always shocked at the lack of shots i hear on the state opening day, and on private i think there are several factors back in the day most guys used smooth bore slug guns with open sights and would think nothing about throwing 5 slugs at a deer running threw the woods, seems to be a lot less group deer driving, overall less hunters , more accurate rifles from guys sitting still in stand waiting for the right shot, and guys passing on smaller bucks that never use to happen back in the day
  20. found some local shop had 2 boxes left of 150 gr fiocchi bought them only ones i could find
