I go to the Columbia county Fair every yr. Been going for 53 yrs. Only missed the 4 yrs in the mid to late 70's when Dad got transferred to Ohio. It's definitely gone downhill in the past 10-15 yrs. But everytime I go I become a kid again. Lots of great memories. My wife and I really enjoy the Mass state fair the " Big E".

I had a 12 foot john boat that I used by myself for yrs. I had ladder racks on my PU and I could easily load it onto the racks by myself. I used the bed as much as possible, but if it was full of equipment, I didn't have a issue getting the boat onto the racks. Also had a trolling motor for those larger ponds, small lakes.

That's nice... congrats

Any recommendations are welcome. I'm on the NY, MA borter, so I'm at least 7 hrs away. The last charter we booked called 30 min after we left telling my brothers wife we should reschedule because of the rough weather that was coming in the next day. This was obviously before cell phones. Haven't tried since

I'll keep that info for the future. I caught a 25# king the last time I was there, but several times before that I we only caught slimeballs, AKA lake trout.
-
TF, what charter did you use. It's been 20+ yrs since I've been on a charter on Lake O. I'm getting the itch... Beans and salmon look tasty.

Yep... Not going to find me on social media either. Few fourms that I frequent is about all I can stand.. Happy anniversary... -
In the third pic, either the bucks we're a lot bigger bodies back then, or the men were smaller. Or both...

Too cool. I've got some B&W photos of my dad, uncle's, and brother in the late '50's early '60's. I'd love to post them, bi there in storage at the moment. Trying to sell our current house and purchase another, but so far 3 buyers for our current home have had to back out because the bank won't untimely give them a mortgage.

Machinist Tool Box $50 Local
mowin replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Non Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
Yes. It's one of the few things I have of his that survived from when he was medically discharged from the military in '43 and enrolled in a machinist apprenticeship. It was his first purchase after he became a machinist in I believe '45... So you could offer me a million dollars for it and I'll tell you or anyone else to hit the road. NFS. -

How About Some Rain
mowin replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
We got enough rain last night to barley knock the dust down. I've got 25 + lawns. I mowed 6 last week. I'm even skipping irrigated lawns that are in full sunlight. Most of my lawns are 1.5+ acres. Now there 1.5+ acres of desert. -

How About Some Rain
mowin replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Ya.. many yrs I've struggled to get lawns done do to excessive rain. They grew great, but really sucks mowing in the rain, or rain soaked lawns. Then we get hit with 90*'s and no rain. I've skipped most of my lawns the past two weeks. There scraggly, but green. Have to cut them next week no matter what. -

As someone who owns a lawn care company, this drought sucks.... I obviously can't dance, because my rain dances haven't worked. -
Shot MP Shield for first time ... and left
mowin replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
I've got a original shield in .40cal. Really enjoy shooting it. It's my EDC... My groups are pretty even right to left, but a tad low. -
The only two I really want.... M1 Garand Original Remington 1911 I'm waiting for a 1952 Savage 99 in 300 Savage. I know, not the rarest caliber, but never owned one before. Should be in my hands by the end of the month.

Ok. I've smoked just about everything. Whole hog, whole venison, and everything in between.....Except salmon. I'm not confident with fish. Did a little trout a whitefish that was ok, but salmon has me intimated. Just not confident it will turn out ok. Looking forward to any advice to help me accept the challenge.

I'm a frequent lurker and occasionally post on SMF. Same user name as here. I've done pork shots many different ways. They have always come out fantastic. Compliment well deserved.

Adjust the cheese rue to your taste. This is a recipe I found online. I like it more juicy, so I adjust the rue to what i like.

Smoked Mac n cheese is totally different than smoked cheese. Cheese needs to be cold smoked so it doesn't melt. So under 75* Smoked Mac n cheese is hot smoked, so you want the cheese to melt. Here's what I do..

. Those were great. Lasted as long as the pork shots. Will definitely be making them again. I put a small piece of jalapeno and covered it with a dollop of the chive cream cheese. The only thing I'd do different is my offset stick burner imparted a little too much smoke, so I'd do a hour or so then under the broiler to crisp up the bacon. My pellet pooper would do exceptionally well the full two + hrs. My apple and cherry was very well seasoned but the stick burner definitely has a higher smoke profile. So, kudos to you for a fantastic appetizer. They will always be known as TF's WTB's...

Started the fire around 8 this morning. Using cherry and apple. Beef ribs, SLR, baked beans, Mac n cheese, pork shots, and TF's WTB's.

Competition style ribs are very different from the backyard rib. Judges want a bite to the bone, but not FOB. The average backyard party will want FOB and be saying that they are the best rids they ever had. I perfer FOB.. my nephew and cousin like a little tug. There's no wrong method.. your family and friends will let you know what they like best.
-
Looks like a home run to me... Gotta love the 321 method. I've been doing a 221 last few times on SLR. Not FOB, but a nice easy bite to the bone.
