  1. At those competitions are you doing multiple different entrees to win? And they choose a winner based on overall? The one i was watching they always did chicken, pulled pork, ribs and brisket. That's a whole lot to cook in one day. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
  2. That's awesome Bruno! I watch BBQ brawl on the food network and it's amazing all that goes into cooking it. Good luck and keep us posted. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
  3. looks like you did a good job of getting some open ground, which is the toughest part. I would just wait til you know its gonna rain the next day and seed it again. The worst that happens is you used an extra bag, and i would bet you will still have a pretty decent plot there by end of Sept.
  4. While we were out working on hunting land this weekend, couldnt help but laugh at our wall of clover. On one of the trails that we frost seeded in the spring, there was a literal wall of clover that ended where we stopped seeding. The clover all up that trail by the stand is just amazing and it ends right in straight line down the trail and its 4" higher. Frost seeding definitely works there. Going to do some more in different locations this next spring. Planning to rotate frost seeding that every 3 years or so pending how it looks. And frost seeding is an easy way to get some food going and a good day out in the wild come spring.
  5. gonna be a wait and see for me. I have one more day needed this weekend at hunting land to cut some trails and thats pending what day my hunting buddy is off. I have shot two arrows to date with my bow. ugh. Need to start shooting. But early is all good with me.
  6. I think more landowners are catching on that they can make some extra $ this way. Before the local neighbor might have permission to hunt but now many are leasing for the extra. A lot of owners lease to farmers for crops in the summer than can get a lease for hunters in the fall, leasing is still way cheaper than buying. A lot of land is also getting grabbed around here for those solar farms which makes less hunting areas.
  7. About 1/2 the apples of last year as the trees were just loaded, but a decent amount in this tree. Prob be about gone by season though. One of the trees has a lot of apples in bad shape, 1/2 rotted. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
  8. Not venison but made 14 lbs of onion, garlic, cracked pepper with spinach and Feta cheese, and 14 lbs of smoked sausage. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
  9. They are def a larger seed. Won't be back out there til season now, but if they take they are pretty easy to identify. The radish sure took well. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
  10. I threw out a bag of winter peas in one spot but not able to really til them in. I see a lot of them have shoots coming out of the seed. Do they root into the ground like that or do those really need to be sewn into the soil to grow? Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
  11. 2/4 plots looking good. Biggest was a bit spotty so seeded some bare spots again. Now it's up to mother nature for the rest Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
  12. Not much on cams but that is usual for preseason. Does, fawns, one spike buck. This first doe is onto us though....wink wink Third pic that doe is def enjoying our plants. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
  13. We checked plots, changed out current cam cards, put up a few more cams, prepped the last 3 stands and did some random trimming. We are ready! Last thing is I might cut a couple of spots in trail where the swamp grass grows so high but that's it. 10 stands, 4 plots and 12 cams ready to go. 2/4 of the plots look really good at Littlefield and wayback. Other two were kinda sparse at CSS and lawn stands. The larger one we did two weeks ago at lawn stand we reseeded a few bare spots and will hope that takes. 2 of them grew really well and have lots of deer fodder growing strong. Not Lomax plots by any means but not bad for what we have to work with. Now to have breakfast and check cam cards. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
  14. Don't do it Paula he's trying to get you involved in Russian collusion......it's not worth it. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

  16. this did me in last year. Was wading to stands https://www.localsyr.com/news/local-news/friday-marks-one-year-since-flooding-from-fred/
  17. we seperate from Blue NY and we are fracking in under a 1/2 hour.
  18. Nah - we would then be able to eliminate all the spending programs put into place and would prosper and be able to bring business back to NY without all the overreach. We could be Texas. lol
  19. i am willing to surrender all those above to downstate. Lets make a deal.
  20. A guy at work is a pistol instructor and he is trying to figure it all out. I saw this yesterday. My biggest question is how do you live fire a pistol without a permit? It's illegal to possess a pistol without one and the instructor can't use theirs cause that's also illegal. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
  21. last season i only had these two bucks all thru the summer (first two picks) Then i had multiples during season all over the cams including those two.
  22. im like a kid on Xmas eve today. Tomorrow going to check plots and pull some cams. Hopefully it isnt packs of socks and underwear under the tree!
  23. I think i would rather see bucks now as well. Then i would be thinking i would have those around and more to come later. This year i do have more bucks on cam in the summer than the past years (biggest is a 7pt) so will have to see if we get as many additional bucks around during the season. I guess its a good problem to have and sure wouldnt want it the other way. I always thought they must summer very close and then once the fall arrives they wander farther daily looking for does and my location is in that extended range. I also always think that after the first week of gun season we wont see hardly a track around is due to the fact there is a golf course right across the road on the back side of the property and they go there. Theres no hunting, the golfers are gone and should be lots of food and open space. Trying more food plots to keep them around more this year. Will see if it pays off.
  24. every year on our property its the same. A buck or two in the summer and all the way thru Sept. I always start to wonder ....wow no bucks....then october i get 6-10 new bucks around. Sometimes this doesnt even happen til Mid October. Then they are around a lot til after the first week of gun season then its a ghost town .
